Quick and Easy Foods

~ This post is sponsored and written by The Dukan Diet ~

When the sun is shining outside one of the last things you want to do is be standing over a hot stove, slaving away making dinner.  Big meals in hot weather are sometimes not really that appealing but then again neither is the same cold meal over and over.  One of the problems for people who are dieting is that there is not enough choice available to make interesting meals.  One of the best diets year round is the Dukan Diet.  It is simple as it has a list of 100 safe foods that you can eat an unlimited amount of and these foods include poultry, most red meat, fish and seafood as well as a good selection of vegetables and dairy products.  The fact that you can eat as many of these free foods as you like means that you won’t be going hungry any time soon.

The Dukan Diet website offers a wide range of support and best of all lots of recipes for inspiration.  The best way to succeed is to plan ahead so study the list and fill your fridge and cupboards with the food you can eat.  If you’re feeling organised, you can plan all your meals for the week in advance ensuring that you have the right items on your shopping list and chose meals that are quick to make on days when you know you are going to be busy.

A good idea is to marinade fish and meats the night before so the next day you simply have to grill the food and throw together a salad or mixed vegetables.  The list of free vegetables includes artichoke, beetroot, carrot, cucumber, French beans, lettuce, onion, peppers, radish, spinach, tomato and bean sprouts which are all the ingredients you need to make a mega tasty and full of goodness salad.  Serve the salad up with steak, chicken breast or even a mixed fish grill for a quick and filling lunch or dinner.  If you prepare extra then you have a spare meal ready for lunch then next day.  If you are an egg fan then there is a great recipe online for an egg based curry.  There is also all the ingredients there for a stirfry – one of the quickest, healthiest and tastiest meals you can make!

  1. hehe, I agree with needing quick and easy meals! Especailly after a long day at work. Don't agree with the diet though, bah! Eat whatever you want! As long as you eat more than one thing you'll be right :) Unfortunately that means by my own rules I can't have chocolate every day for breakfast lunch and dinner, but I'm sure if I did I'd get bored pretty quickly, haha!

  2. My father, who is a professional chef, ALWAYS marinates overnight. Sometimes more than one night. His beef always turns out tender. Also, if you haven't heard the trick, corn starch tenderizes meat.

  3. I definitely try to eat a diet loaded with lots of lean meats and vegetables. I used to do veggie prep on Sundays and don't do that as often. Thanks for the reminder to prep in advance and eat healthy!

  6. I always find it so funny to read that the Dukan Diet originated in France... maybe outside of Paris it's different but no one I know here is the least bit interested in a temporary diet to achieve results, especially if it means limiting foods; life is about portion control and calculated indulgence :)

  7. Yummy pics, Kim, and this sounds like a plan that's easy to stick to! I agree with you--to prep food in advance (chopping veggies, marinating proteins). I have found that's the easiest way to ensure I eat healthy during a busy work week. Joy on your day! xo T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com

  8. Hi Kim, this is one of the best diets around. My co-workers have tried this and they have lost lots of weight. But the main thing is to have discipline to stick to it to make it work. Very informative review.

  9. Hi Kim! I am always curious about this diet. Many people have tried it and everywhere I read positive opinions. Is interesting that it lists "free food" to have, is important to plan in advance the meals so your fridge is well stocked with that and then you dont suffer the hunger. But let me say dear that I always believe in balance and good control in the portions, I love eating and I think the compromise between the 2 things is the best way to stay healthy, strong and active! If I know I cant have some type of food, will feel soooo upset! Kisses dear, have a good day! xo

  18. So funny you published this today because I was out in town checking every library for diet recipe books! I really need to start controlling my eating habits and thought that a weight watchers boom on my shelf won't do no harm ... Maybe I should give the Duran diet a try!

  22. Thanks for posting this, Kim! As a college student, cooking quick and easy meals are what I'm all about. Especially with the new semester coming up shortly. It's funny because even the quickest meals for me ends up taking longer than expected. The perfectionist in me likes to make sure all the measurements and that everything is precise. But I love to cook when I can!
