L'Oreal Miss Pop Collection: Barbara Palvin

Have you incorporated BRIGHT or NEON colors into your makeup stash? I have a couple of nail polishes, but haven't purchased any lip color, eyeshadow or blush in those colors. I like brights and neons in small increments. I think too much sends you back to the 80's. HaHaHa I think I'm going to try orange and see how that works out. The reason I mentioned it, I saw this really colorful 60's Mod L'Oreal Miss Pop Collection photo shoot (lensed by Kenneth Willardt) featuring model Barbara Palvin. Before you get excited about this collection, I think it's only available in Europe (available now or in June). In the States, L'Oreal is releasing a Colour Rich Neon Pop Collection in June (it's at the very bottom of this post). Let me know your thoughts! Have a great weekend!

...and this is what the States get (below)! LOL

Harper's Bazaar China: Hot N' Cold

I was kinda liking this photo shoot at first. It showcased gorgeous Burberry Prorsum metallic coats, Stella McCartney, Dolce Gabbana & Louis Vuitton dresses, melted ice cream cones, towering lollipops, and delectable sundaes. You know! All the stuff I LOVE! Then my little sugar-filled fantasy bubble popped! What destroyed it? A CLOWN!!! I know their are nice clowns out there, but for the most part I hate frickin' clowns! Omg'd, I blame it on Stephen King's movie IT. I can't stand them! This one looks like a short, pervert clown! Ugggh! Yuck! Did you spot him? They couldn't have picked a better title for this! The fashion is HOT, but that damn clown left me COLD. HaHaHa  They should've put a really nice, tall & handsome, ice cream truck driver in this. You know the one's with the little bow tie and fake smile! That would've been so much nicer HaHaHa. Do clowns give you the creepers or is it just me?

EOS Product Review: Shave Cream, Lotion, Lip Balm

Have you heard of EOS (evolution of smooth)? There's been a lot of buzz about their beauty products around the blogosphere. Their products are dye-free, paraben free, phthalate free, lanolin free, gluten free, petrolatum free, hypoallergenic...ok, you get my drift. HaHaHa Their ad campaigns & packaging are really cute, but I wondered if their products actually worked? So, I put them to the test!

 Sweet-Bittersweet-Not Sweet
EOS Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream - Pomegranate Raspberry - $3.49
EOS Pomegranate Raspberry Shaving Cream is Sweet

Pros: I really like this shaving cream. The first thing that impressed me was the packaging (it's not in a METAL or TIN can hahaha)! It has a sturdy pump & replaceable cap. It's creamy, rich and has a thick consistency. It's not a foam like most brands. It's more like a thick lotion, but the results are the same. It has a very soft berry scent that can be detected before & after shaving. Your skin feels soft & smooth afterwards. They have an assortment of scents on their website, including one for sensitive skin.

Cons: The only negative I could think of was,  it's slightly pricier than your average shaving cream. However the packaging, scent and having super soft skin afterwards totally makes up for that.

EOS Revitalizing Care Hand & Body Lotion - Nourish - $7.99
EOS Nourish Lotion is Sweet

Pros: Nourish will work for ALL skin types, except anyone that has DRY skin (that would be me! i know! i mistakenly purchased the wrong one hahaha). Again, this product comes in a fabulous & sturdy container! It has an easy to use pump that dispenses just the right amount of product. This is a great everyday lotion. It's lightweight, absorbs quickly into the skin, is not greasy or sticky. It has a really soft neutral scent. So it won't conflict with any perfume you may put on. Also, this lotion is great for Spring and Summer. I think it's a little too lightweight for Fall/Winter.

Cons: Again, it's not for DRY skin types. If your skin is DRY, purchase EOS Boost (it's for DRY SKIN).

EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm - Strawberry Sorbet - $3.29
EOS Strawberry Sorbet Lip Balm is Bittersweet

The first thing I want to say, is that these lip balms are selling like hotcakes! HaHaHa I think everyone is in love with the packaging. I must admit, the packaging for this product is really cute, but how good is it? Well, it easily twists open to reveal a cute ball of lip balm. It has a very nice berry scent. When you apply it, your lips DO feel moisturized and softer. However, for me it felt a little waxy when I applied it to my lips. It's also a little pricey for just one. There's an array of scents to choose from.

You may laugh at me, but I'm serious as a heart attack. The best lip balm / chapstick I've ever tried (and I've tried many) and still use today is Avon. I'm not kidding you! It's frickin' A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! Right now I'm using Avon's Strawberry Fraise. The scent is fabulous, it moisturizes your lips exceptionally well, and right now it's only .69 (69 cents). You can keep Avon's lip balm for 2 years and it won't dry out! It's that good. The only thing is that it's not as environmentally friendly as EOS when you read the ingredients. But I LOVE it1

Nuthin' To Squeal About

Ahhh...Memorial Day Weekend! A time for honoring our servicemen, shopping, and eating BBQ. Well, this past Saturday, I decided to get some BBQ from a place called Squeal. I've eyed Squeal for several years now, but never had the opportunity to eat there. New Orleans doesn't have many BBQ places (many residents just bbq on their own), so the one's that do exist definitely stand out. Squeal is nestled in a quiet neighborhood section of Carrollton, has the cutest little pig sign and is quite the center of attention for the annual Po-Boy Festival. Well my friends, Squeal had it's positives, but unfortunately the food was not one of them.

Squeal is Not Sweet
Let's start with the positives! It's an adorable house, with a porch that was converted into a business. So it has a real family-oriented charm. As you walk in the front door, there is a bar with plenty of spirits to make anyone happy. The staff greeted us as soon as we walked in and promptly sat us at the table of OUR choosing. I thought that was really nice.
I love the decor of the place! It's walls are filled with local New Orleans artwork and each table top has a specific design. Our table top was a really cool guitar! It was truly beautiful. Squeal was very clean and the only negative thing I noticed was that it was a little warm inside. They were open for about a half-hour before we arrived, so maybe they didn't turn the air on until opening. We were given menu's and then that's where the problems began.
I knew what I was going to order, because I had looked at their menu online. I ordered their BBQ chicken and the two sides I requested was baked beans and potato salad. The waitress apologized and said they didn't have baked beans or potato salad ready at the moment. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. How can a BBQ place not have baked beans or potato salad...ready? It wasn't her fault, but I was a little perturbed by that. That's like a peanut butter & jelly sandwich without the jelly! BBQ + baked beans + potato salad = just goes together! I ended up getting greens and cole slaw instead. Not what I wanted (at all), but I dealt with it.

When the food arrived it looked beautiful and they gave you really HUGE portions. Great!!! Well, NOT GREAT. The chicken was barely warm ( I didn't care for the sauce. It leaves a bitter taste in your mouth), the cole slaw was dry, and the greens were tough. The jalapeno hush puppies and bread were good! My guest and I, ate a little chicken, some bread and washed it down with tea. The food just doesn't have a good taste to it. It's bland and you have to wonder if any seasoning is being used. It's edible, but that's about it. I was truly disappointed. I didn't think you could mess up BBQ chicken and sides.

I brought the rest of my food home, heated it and gave it a second chance. I came to the same conclusion. I can't recommend Squeal to anyone. I didn't have an appetizer. I didn't have the ribs, so I can't judge those. I looked on Urbanspoon afterwards and found out that either people liked (food I didn't try) or really disliked Squeal (more of the latter). Surprisingly, some of the same reasons I mentioned. So it was good to know my review wasn't far off.

Leonardo DiCaprio: Jay Gatsby is A Sharp Dressed Man

I saw Leo DiCaprio. I mean The Great Gatsby! HaHaHa Thank God I knew the storyline you guys, because my entire focus was on Leo! I'll give you a review in a minute, but can I discuss him for a second? Start playing ZZ Top's "Sharped Dressed Man"! Oh yesss! That is his theme song! Leo was one hunk of gorgeousness in this movie! Did you know Brooks Brothers outfitted him for this movie? They even have a Great Gatsby Men's Collection. The Brooks Brothers suits, ties, cufflinks, shoes, and the watches he wore made me drool! The ivory suit, he wore for tea, made me forget about the cakes & macarons surrounding him. Now that says a lot! HaHa Then he lays back in a bed of colorful pillows wearing this gorgeous cream-colored sweater with linen pants. I tell ya, I should've seen this movie in 3D! HaHa He even looked good in a robe. Whoever cut his hair, did a hell of a job! His hair literally took shape based on his feelings and persona. Simply put, Leo out-shined the women in this movie! Ready to laugh? I was so enamored, I mistakenly dipped my fingers in the nacho cheese cup while watching the movie! HaHaHa

Spoiler Alert: A review? You want one? The movie was very good, but not great! It could've been magnificent! All of the actors and actresses were spectacular. They really got into character. The costumes, jewelry and makeup were gorgeous. No problem there. Let me tell you what the problem was! I've never seen it done before, but whoever edited the movie, jacked it up! It was so choppy, you could barely appreciate the storyline. Also anyone who read the book, knows they left out Daisy's daughter and Gatsby's father attending the funeral at the end (if I missed it looking at Leo, I stand corrected). Ewww, Leo even looked good in the casket! LOL

THE BEST part of the movie was the end! The ending should resonate in your heart & soul. Always remember, you cannot make anyone love you! If something doesn't work out, keep moving forward...don't look back (if it's meant, they'll catch up with you and make a point to be part of your life)! How YOU feel, doesn't mean someone else will feel the same way (nor can YOU force it)! For the most part, family will be there for you when no one else will! The people that party with you & say you're great today, may kick your ass tomorrow! Gatsby entertained MANY, and NONE even bothered to show up at his funeral when he died. Daisy, went on with her life and didn't even send one flower when he died (and he dedicated his ENTIRE life to her)! So sad! Did anybody see the movie? Please share your thoughts and insights. Have a great week everybody!
