Eat Nak'd Fruit And Nut & Crunch Bar Review

PR Sample - I was sent an assortment of Eat Nak'd Bars to review. Natural Balance Foods, the maker of Eat Nak'd, is a British company that makes gluten free snack bars. Not only are they gluten free, but they contain 100% natural ingredients, NO added sugars or syrups, and they are wheat & dairy free. Bottom line, they are 100% VEGAN. As the company describes them, they are fruits and nuts 'smooshed' together. So how are they? The only way to describe them is HEALTHY. They LOOK healthy. They TASTE healthy. I'm not going to lie! I loved the packaging, but when I saw the bars I didn't feel very hungry. LOL They look like smooshed stuff formed together and they're dark. As I tasted each bar, some were a little better than others. However, I never completed eating ANY of the bars (they're very dense). I didn't enjoy eating the bars. I just ate them. You know how you just eat something, with indifference? They're CHEWY. The CRUNCH only comes from the nuts in them. So don't worry about them being CRUNCHY! They are not. On a more positive note, I will say this! I LOVED how I felt after I ate them! I had ENERGY! I felt GREAT! I didn't feel hungry! So, that was really good. I don't think I've ever had a vegan food product, so maybe it's just a personal adjustment on my part. And some of the flavors, were just not favorites of mine, so I tried to not let that affect my review of them. These are just VERY HEALTHY snack bars. I did like that they have the percentage of fruit, nuts & cocoa on the back of each label. Eat Nak'd products are available for purchase across the USA at www.eatnakd.com and on Amazon.com. Have you tried Nak'd Bars? This is the kickoff to GO NUDE WEEK on A Very Sweet Blog :)

Sweet-Bittersweet-NotSweet
supersweet(run & buy it) sweet(really good,buy it) bittersweet(ok, issues)not sweet(not good,don't buy this stuff)

Eat Nak'd Cocoa Protein Crunch Bar - Bittersweet
I tasted raisins, cashews, and nuts. Hardly any chocolate. Very dense.

Eat Nak'd Cocoa Delight Bar - Bittersweet
I tasted dark chocolate, raisins and nuts. Very dense.

Eat Nak'd Apple Protein Crunch Bar - Not Sweet
This has a bitter apple taste. I tasted raisins and cashews. This bar tasted very dry.

Eat Nak'd Banana Protein Crunch Bar - Sweet
It tastes like fresh bananas & nuts. It does have a dry taste.

Eat Nak'd Berry Delight Bar - Sweet
I tasted raisins and raspberries.

Eat Nak'd Ginger Bread Bar - Not Sweet
I didn't like this one at all. It has a bitter taste...like cloves? It has a variety of nuts & fruit.

Eat Nak'd Rhubarb & Custard Bar - Not Sweet
I didn't like this one either. Whether it was the rhubarb or the custard, it just didn't taste good.

Eat Nak'd Strawberry Protein Crunch Bar - Sweet
This tasted like fresh strawberries, cashews and raisins.

Eat Nak'd Caffe Mocha Bar - Sweet
If you like the taste of coffee and chocolate together, I think you would like this.

Eat Nak'd Cashew Cookie Bar - Sweet
It's like eating fresh cashews.

Eat Nak'd Cocoa Mint Bar - Sweet
I'm not a fan of chocolate & mint together. But if you love Thin Mints (Girl Scout Cookies) or Peppermint Patty Candy, then I think you'll like this.

Eat Nak'd Cocoa Orange Bar - Sweet
I'm not a fan of chocolate & orange together.
However, if you like that combination, then you'll like these.

Eat Nak'd Pecan Pie Bar - Sweet
I tasted pecans, dates and nuts.

  1. I always fully trust your reviews because sample or not you're so honest! I think this is definitely one of those things you just have to be accustomed to eating haha, they didn't look very tasty at first glance to me but reading through the varieties some of them actually sound like my cup of tea!

  2. Oh at least you got to try a lot of different flavours so it wasn't too bad there were some you disliked! :)

I see a lot of these kinds of bars around here in the stores and I always pick them up - but they always, without fail, have dates and/or raisins in them, ugh. So I'd never eat them, haha! I guess they need something to 'glue' all the pieces together though!

As Lizzy said above, I love your reviews as you are always so honest. it's refreshing to see! :)

  8. I like that they are gluten-free/vegan. I tasted these bars before in the past. Now, my sister has got me into making homemade energy bars, so I am loving that at the moment. Thanks for the review Kim. :)

  10. I generally stay away from energy bars, even the ones that claim to be 100% natural... Most often, they're about as nutritious as Mars bar, but don't taste as good! I think I'll probably stay way from these as well, although the energy boost does sound nice :)

  12. It definitely sounds like certain flavors taste better. It's nice that these are vegan and gluten-free and it's great that you got a good boost of energy from them even though you didn't necessarily enjoy the experience of eating them Kim!

  13. Hmm even though these sound promising they don't look appetizing at all. I'm totally into vegan stuff, though I'm not fully vegan, but I feel like these is better bars out there that don't look so unappealing lol!!! Thanks for th review kim, this is probably something I would have bought if I seen it in stores but now I know not to! All vegan stuff isn't weird of hard to ajust to- I buy vegan peanut butter and butter and neither taste like anything but regular peanut butter and butter LOL!

  14. I wonderfully thorough review - I'm a huge fan of these bars since reviewing them, I find them to be a great example of how not to judge a book by it's cover! It's fascinating how different flavours tick different boxes for people :)

  22. Wow, it looks like they sent you the entire range! :D :D :D I've discovered NAKD many years ago, when they first launched (back then it was the only UK brand similar to Lara bars). I am not a huge fan of the crunchy option (there's soy in it, so it's not my first choice), but I adore chocolate orange, ginger bread and the berry ones, I have them practically every day. :)

  25. LMAO at this review, Kim. My face was all scrunched up while reading your description and to be honest, I kind of lost my appetite half way through. This is the main reason why I love you and your blog so much, you're freaking honest which unfortunately a rare trait in the blogging world these days.

Hope you had a great weekend, Kim!

ps: I sent you an email some time ago with my FB link, not sure if you received them or it went into Spam folder? My emails have the tendency to find their way there.....

  26. gluten free snacks...that sounds great? natural ingrediants? even better....I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy eating them but hey at least you felt better after you did...I mean, you said you had energy and didn't feel hungry.

why can't they make stuff that is both healthy and yummy? or maybe we have all just gotten to adjusted to sweets and strong flamours that we can't appreciate the subtle taste of natural food? what do you think?

  27. Hmmm ok, I definitely know which ones I would love to give a try. Thanks for the awesome review!

  28. Some good, some bad. It is great that you received an assortment first to learn which you would want the eat again. It is not easy to find a great, all natural bar. I've tried making them a couple of times and they just fall apart on me!

  29. The flavors that earned 'Not Sweet' don't really surprise me because they just seem a little too extreme but I would definitely try the berry one and I'm always looking for snacks like this on the go for energy and to keep in my handbag. IF they actually taste good, that's even better hehe

  30. They do look dense Kim! I'm not too crazy about these bars, but I'll eat them once in a while. They're a good snack though.

  35. Mmm i'll take the banana, pecan pie, and cashew cookie! Well healthy stuff isn't always exciting and super tasty. At least some tasted better than others! The key also is that you felt satisfied! That is why we reach for fatty snacks - to get that tasty fulfillment!

  36. Too bad some of them didn't taste that good. I think if I had to pick I'd try I'd go with the Eat Nak'd Pecan Pie Bar...since I LOVE pecans. I usually love dark chocolate so what a shame that that one didn't taste very good. Awesome review Kim! I always love stopping by your blog. *smiles*
