NYC HD Automatic Eyeliner Review & Swatches

PR Sample - Hey Everybody! Happy Saturday! I was sent two eyeliners by NYC (New York Color) to review. I received their HD Automatic Eyeliner in #001 Black and #002 Navy Blue. With eyeliner, most people want great pigmentation and no smudging. So how did these fare? I found these to have a very creamy formula. I thought the color payoff was excellent (see swatches below)! In the past, I've had eyeliners where I've had to go OVER and OVER lines to get decent color. Not the case with these. The tip of the eyeliner is not thick or thin (medium point), and the eyeliner is retractable. Be sure not to twist the eyeliner too far up, press too hard, or else you'll risk breaking it off. Of course there's more (you just twist it up), but you don't want to keep losing eyeliner. This eyeliner also has an applicator (sort of like a sponge) on the opposite end, that will SMUDGE OUT your eyeliner to give you a smoky look. The navy blue is a midnight blue. The black is more like a smoky black. Both are very pretty. Will they smudge? They will, if you wipe your eyes hard or let out one of those ugly cries. It's not a bad 'you'll-look-like-the-joker-from-batman' smudge, but there will be some color smearing and transfer. If you're having a HAPPY day, then you will be OK :) This eyeliner needs to be applied, and left alone. But overall, I'm very impressed with the performance of these and for only $1.99 who could ask for more. I don't wear eyeliner much. Every now and then. So this is a beauty product where I like to go super cheap and keep a few high-end eyeliners on the side for special events. Those are my thoughts. Hope you're having a great weekend! {photo credit: Glamour Magazine August 2015, Arm Candy, Photography Thomas Lagrange, Fashion Stylist Karla Martinez de Salas}

  5. The price is very afforadable, Kim!
    And I like that you don't have to work hard just to get your desired coloring, it's simply such a good pick.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and have an amazing weekend!

  6. Oh I have an eyeliner just like this! :D (The black one)

    I got it in a freebie bag at an event and never used it, until a lady tried some on me at the Clinique counter and gave me an idea to try copy at home. Of course mine looks terrible, but the little sponge comes in helpful to smudge so it looks deliberately messy, haha!

  14. I just can't imagine wearing eyeliner in any colour other than black, though hopefully that'll change over time as I broaden my cosmetic-horizons haha! This was a great review Kim, have a lovely weekend :)

  16. The blue color is gorgoues!!! It's hard to find a good liner that's creamy but doesn't smudge easy! These sound super nice and I love how cheap they are! Great review kim!

  17. I have heard of this brand but never used them. I find the liquid eyeliner much easier especially if I am lining the top. The bottom I can do with these pencils. Will have to try one, thanks to your review. Hope you are doing well. I am trying to stay cool this weekend as my central air decided to go on the fritz, not good! :)

  18. The navy blue shade is quite pretty! I've wanted to try blu eyeliner for awhile now and this might be worth a go to see if I like it on me considering how affordable it is. Thanks for the review Kim!

  20. I like this eyeliner. I always put an eyeliner on even when I'm lazy to put eyeshadow. I like how the colours look so real.

  21. I use to break my liners all the time because i twisted it out too far, which eventually made to try gel liners. I've seen these before but haven't tried them, but $2 is such a great deal for eyeliner.

  22. I gave up on eyeliner pencils years ago because of unpredictable performance. Some are too dry, others are too smudgy, and overall, none seemed to give me quite the look I wanted. These days, I stick to gel liner or liquid liner - the liquid liner pens that some brands have are pretty amazing, I have to say. Although for $1.99, I'd probably be willing to give these a try ;)

  24. These look nice for such a great deal! A lot of times, the cheap liners are so hard when I try to apply them. The retractable ones seem to be better on the cheap end. I will try these out. You got some good colors too!

  30. WHen I pick up cheap make up - I tend not to expect much from it… I purchased an eyeliner recently and it was not over 4 dollars and I am smitten by its performance. Its like we've gotten used to bad stuff being cheap.
