Molton Brown Delicious Rhubarb & Rose Review

Happy Valentine's Day Everybody! I hope you're having a great weekend :) Today's Sample Sunday is Molton Brown's Delicious Rhubarb & Rose Bath & Shower Gel. I received this deluxe sample via an order I placed with Nordstrom. I was very CURIOUS about this scent a couple of years ago, when it was first introduced. It was on my list to try, but I didn't purchase it after my disappointment with Molton Brown's Ylang Ylang. I was a huge Molton Brown fan years ago and then trying it years later (ylang ylang) was a let down. Well this scent has restored my faith in the brand. AGAIN, I'm not a fan of rose! So it must be the mix of rhubarb (has anyone had rhubarb pie?) which makes this shower gel delicious "as it states".  The top note is tart rhubarb. The heart note is gentle rose. The base note is comforting musk. I don't like musk or rose, but I love this! So that should tell you a lot. Rhubarb prevails. It's a touch of floral, but has a very sweet scent. It's soft and not overpowering. It lathered really nicely and left my skin soft. Moisturized? I would say not. I'm guessing that's where the matching lotion would come in. Also the scent doesn't linger with the shower gel. With a price tag of $30 just for the shower gel, I would suggest doing a scent/sniff test in the store. But it's pleasant and I can't see it offending anyone. I wouldn't hesitate giving this as a gift. Those are my thoughts :) ROSE seems to be the word right now! So look for a lot of in beauty & bath products. Disregard the glitter on my hand (it's from another product I was testing out). Have a great day! I'll be back with a new blog post Tuesday.

  2. From your description, the scent of this bath gels sounds absolutely divine. To be bad it wasn't all that moisturizing. For $30 I'd expect it to do a better job in that regard.

  5. It sounds like such an interesting scent Kim!

I had a trial size of this brand in another scent (can't remember what it was) and I really didn't like it, but I'm determined to use through all my travel/sample size things so I used it up anyway. I found the same thing, the scent didn't stay long after the shower, so it wasn't to bad :)

  10. I've always liked MB. And funnily enough, we now have another British brand (will need to check the name) that somewhat "copies" the MB packaging and has some wonderful fragrances, but all for around £3, makes a good replacement for daily washes.
Thank you for a wonderful review, Kim! x

  11. I grew up eating a lot of rhubarb - it grew almost wild where I lived. I was never a huge fan of it, although I admit that rhubarb cobbler with vanilla ice cream has a certain appeal at times. After years of giving no thought to rhubarb at all, in the past year or so I've seen it pop up all over the place in the cosmetic world and I think it's so interesting! I'm not a fan of rose but I'd definitely be interested in trying other rhubarb scented bath products.

  13. What an interesting scent. I love Molton Brown shower gels, but lately, they've been missing the mark on some of their products, so glad to hear that this one is pleasant.

  14. You don't hear of rhubarb being in a scent to often. I would love to give this a sniff. I've only gotten a sample of a couple of the hand washes from Molton Brown, but I haven't tried anything else.

  26. Ironically, I never really liked rhubarb, because many people always mixed it with strawberries, and I am allergic to strawberries, haha. But, I do love the smell of rose. I grew up knowing of Molton Brown products, but have not tried too much of these new ones. Great review Kim.

  28. it looks lovely indeed. I haven't used this brand for years now because I was allergic to something from them (I don't even remember what it was) but may be it's time to give them a second chance - the scents are amazing there indeed.

  30. I stayed at a hotel a couple years ago that had Molten Brown and I know it's really nice, but I wasn't really blown away and I've never had a rhubarb beauty product but this seems really interesting. I don't think I could pay $30 for body wash though lol. I love the Soft Soap Pomegranate scent. hehe

    Nice review Kim!

  32. This shower gel sounds so delicious! I'm not one to favor floral scents when it comes to shower gels for some odd reason because I love them in perfumes. I think it's because they tend to be stronger in soups. I'll have to check this one out when I come across it, thanks so much for sharing, beautiful! Have a lovely weekend!
