Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector in Medium Review & Swatches

Around the end of April, I walked into ULTA. The new Urban Decay display for Summer was set up. It featured all their new Summer beauty treats. The one thing that caught my eye was their One & Done. Doesn't that sound nice? On the back of the package it says, "ONE STEP AND YOU'RE DONE! Instantly blur imperfections and even out skin tone" Urban Decay describes this as a sheer foundation, tinted moisturizer, with an SPF of 20. They also promise: it will last 8 hrs, radiance after 12 weeks (it contains peptides, vitamins & moisturizers), smaller looking pores after 8 weeks. I don't know about you, but I hate when a company gets clinical. All I care about is, if it will look good on me. LOL I swatched this in the store and it looked good. I decided to purchase it, because sometimes I don't feel like putting on foundation, concealer etc when going to the grocery store, post office, running errands etc. I've never had any luck with BB creams, so the only other option was full coverage foundation. So I do my other shopping and finally get to the counter. One girl at the register (there were no other customers around) says, "Do you want this?" I was a little shocked by her comment and replied, "Yes, I swatched it while I was over there." Then the other girl at the counter says, "I can't use that, because I need COVERAGE". THEN, they end up talking to each other about the lack of coverage. So, I'm looking at both of them. One has foundation on that is at least THREE shades darker than her neck. The other has so much foundation on, it looks like a mask. I'm no MUA (makeup artist), but for them to give anyone advice...well I'll just leave it at that. LOL They were pretty much telling me not to buy the product! I purchased it. I liked UD's foundation. I've since moved on to Too Faced Foundation, but Naked Skin was really good. I took a before & after picture using this product. This provides really good coverage! I didn't use a concealer or anything. Is this product sheer? Not in comparison to other bb creams & tinted moisturizers I've tried. It looks like foundation! It covered a lot of darkness & evened out any redness in my skin. It kept the glow of my skin, but blurred out everything else. I was impressed! PLUS it gives me sun protection! It has an SPF of 20 as mentioned above. Now the negatives! It only comes in 6 shades. So you might have a hard time finding a match. It's $34!!! For just $6 more, you can buy UD foundation. However, I don't think their foundation has SPF. You might not like the packaging! It looks like toothpaste packaging with a big cap! LOL It worked for me, but my Too Faced is only $39 and I'll just add my own sun protection. LOL Just wanted you to know my thoughts.

  1. It seems like a lovely product Kim, and looks great on you! How strange they didn't want to make the sale, haha! I just use a BB cream everyday, I don't need much coverage really!

  4. I hate when sales assistants or people in general try and put you off a product when you clearly have your own mind and can think for yourself. You were right to buy it, it's really lovely and I can imagine it being nice in the summer or on holiday.

  5. I see a big difference and sometimes you have to give things a try and follow your gut. I always says just because it did not work for one does not mean it will not work for you.

  8. That's so funny about the girls at the register. They definitely don't sound like they should be giving anyone advice LOL Even though this product is supposedly sheer, it still looks like you got pretty good coverage from it Kim. You have pretty good skin to begin with though. I like all in one products like this and it sounds like this product would actually let your skin breathe as well.

  10. That's so funny - and odd! - about the girls at the register. I think this product gives beautiful light coverage, perfect for a day when you're just running errands and don't want to go all out on make-up!

  11. I loved that you shared a before and after, it's so helpful in seeing how the coverage works and like you said, it does in fact supply good coverage, but looks light on the skin! For some reason, I feel like the staff at ULTA and Sephora can be rude, mainly because they're rookies in the makeup and beauty world, so they tend to make such unnecessary comments. My mom has a full face of freckles and she was in search of some makeup products, foundation NOT being one of them, at Sephora. Well, one girl felt the need to tell my mother that she needed to cover those "age spots" on her face, even after she told her several times that they are freckles. She then went on to show her full coverage foundation to "conceal" them. Of course my mom walked out and I was super pissed when she told me about it. Seriously!? Anyway, your story reminded me of that, haha! I hope you're having a great week so far, beautiful, and thanks so much for sharing!

  12. Haha! Don't you love when people give advice that shouldn't? I too haven't had luck with BB and CC creams I have tried them and have some but always go back to foundation. I would love to try this. Maybe a sample at first because of the price. You can definitely see a difference in your pictures so it does give some coverage! Thanks for reviewing this Kim!

  15. Man, way to bite your tongue over those girl's comments...especially if they're not even able to pick out the right foundation for themselves! xD
Ahaha, but yess, was looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this. This is a product I actually own and I love it! I've honestly never really used foundation a ton, though lately I've found for full coverage the Tarte Clay Foundation. But for day-to-day, this UD one and done is my holy grail product now!

  16. This sounds like it would be great for those days when you don't want heavy foundation, like in the summer when it's freaking hot outside. Love your B&A, Kim:) It's good you didn't listen to those sales peeps. You know, I actually really hate SAs like these who chat while serving customers. I'm kinda bitchy like that, but seriously, I find it kinda rude!

  17. You right, the packaging looks like a toothpaste. Doesn't look too attractive.

  18. This look very nice on your skin Kim! that's good to know this has coverage, because from the description it didn't sound like it would. I love UD's naked skin foundation. Do you think if I like the foundation, I would like this too? I just realized none of my current foundations or moisturizers have spf in them, I don't think, so that's too to know there's spf in this. And LOL to those girls working at Ulta!

  19. Dear Kim, I was lol while you described the girls at the counter. This cream provides good coverage indeed, and I like it has SPF. However, I have learned to apply additional sun protection although my foundation or BB cream has spf. Also quite expensive for a coloured cream. Thank you for another useful review!! 20. Your checkout story is hilarious! This looks really good on you! It looks like good coverage but not over the top. Most of us need way less coverage than we think we do. I don't understand the tube packaging with a pump. Either put it in a bottle with a pump or make it a squeeze tube! lol

  21. Urban Decay is my all time favorite brand and this naked skin one & done hybrid complexion perfector looks great. I would definitely try it in this summer very soon. Thanks sweety for sharing such a great post. XOXO

  22. Oh my gosh, I think I would love this product. I love bb creams and tinted moisturisers. This looks so good on you Kim. I definitely going to look out for it when I am in Qatar again. Big LOL for the women behind the counter looking like a hot mess but they want to give you makeup advice. Made me laugh so much ;-D

  23. I can understand they're not sales girls but cashiers... but still !
I think you did well in buying it and having your own experience with the product, I honestly think it offers good coverage - you are ready to go out the door with just this and gloss. A winner in my book.

  24. Some of the girls that work at Ulta and/or Sephora wear SO much makeup it's ridiculous! I know Sephora has "rules" like you HAVE to wear more that 3 eyeshadows and such...it's so weird!
Anyway, I almost purchased this when it first released, but I was a bit hesitant. I like the coverage it gave you, but I just don't think I could pay that much for something that is almost like a BB cream.
