Lime Crime i have 2 moods (On Sale): Marshmallow & Raven Velvetines Review & Swatches

This weekend I'm featuring some lipsticks that I own, but never reviewed on AVSB. They are now on sale. Lime Crime came out with a liquid lipstick duo, i have 2 moods last year. I loved the packaging. The girl on it, kind of reminded me of the singer SIA. I also loved the play on words ... i have 2 moods ... because honestly who doesn't! Plus, I had never tried Lime Crime. I didn't think the light pink / cotton candy nude (marshmallow) would work for me, but had hopes for the super dark purple shade (raven) ... described as the 'darkest color ever made without being black'. Well let me tell you the good points! The packaging is super cute! The lipsticks have the sweetest frosting scent! When I swatched both colors on the back of my hand they looked beautiful and very promising. Well (for me), that is where the magic ends (LOL). These are very liquidity! So you have to be really careful how you apply them to your lips. They easily go outside the lip lines and I found myself going over spots that needed more color (if not your lips will look patchy). Raven, the darker color, was extra challenging! I love dark lipsticks, but this was a nightmare to apply. So the formula for these is tricky! Once you apply (and if everything goes right), they dry down. They will dry down and STAY IN PLACE! So that brings me to my next issue. They don't feel good on the lips! They're called Velvetines! And that is exactly how they feel on the lips ... LIKE A HEAVY PIECE OF VELVET CLOTH MATERIAL! I felt the color was glued on my lips. HaHaHa And don't talk about removal! These did not come off gracefully. This formula is just too heavy for me. Now, I am NOT trying to knock Lime Crime. I just recently purchased some of their metallic Perlees, and hope to have a better outcome. Anyway, this is on sale (if you're interested)! I think I'll keep the box, but that is it. LOL Have you tried anything from Lime Crime?

  3. I love the look of this set! I agree with the packaging I always feel a cute pink or dark purple. The colours look lovely on you so its such a shame they don't live up to expectations. There's so many liquid lip brands out there now too that I don't think brands can afford to be bad at producing them.

  4. I've not actually heard of Lime Crime before but I'm now thinking that's probably a good thing since you didn't enjoy the products so much! I hate products that don't feel good on the lips too so I don't blame you for the Not Sweet review!

  5. Yes the girl on the packaging is totally giving me SIA vibes as well Kim :) OMG the concept is fun but these sound absolutely horrible to wear. I would definitely not want a heavy piece of velvet cloth on my lips O_o Lime Crime is a brand I've seen around but I really don't know much about them.

  6. such a shame the formula is tricky...I don't think that I have the patience to suffer a sticky sensation on my lips these days. The older I get, the less I'm willing to suffer for beauty. The packaging and the concept is sure lovely though!

Plus, that dark purple shade looks so perfect on you. I hope you find the same shade in a more comfy and lip friendly formula.

  7. Interesting! I'm curious if the formula is like this across the board because those two shades can be tricky to formulate.

  8. These sound yucky! No one wants the feel of heavy velvet cloth on their lips. That is too bad with such fun marketing.

  11. Oh man! That's too bad about these, Kim. I've never tried Lime Crime before but have always been intrigued coz I've been seeing it for years in beauty blogs. Thanks for the honest review as always:) Velvet cloth on lips...that can't be good!:P
Hope you're having a great Sunday!

  12. I haven't tried anything from Limecrime yet. The darker shade looks really pretty, too bad though it doesn't feel good on the lips. Most matte lip creams tend to give that feel.

  13. How disappointing! I couldn't bear something that would be so hard to remove!

  14. Everything you described in this review is exactly what I have experienced with every matte liquid lipstick I've tried. In the end, I've decided matte liquid lipsticks just aren't for me, and I'm okay with that. It is a shame about these though, because that dark shade really is lovely.

  15. While I do like the purple on you, liquid lips that feel heavy on the lips are a no go for me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Kim!

  16. These are both beautiful shades! The dark ones looks amazing on you Kim! That's too bad that formula wasn't good, and didn't feel good either. I've never tried lime crime before, but I've always had stuff from them on my wish list!

  18. Oh how terrible Kim.
This reminds me of a "tattoo lipstick" I picked up for like 5 bucks and to remove it I pulled lip skin off. It was a disaster.
