2018 BAFTA Red Carpet Favorites

The 71st British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTA) was this past Sunday. Just as with the Golden Globes, many actresses wore black in solidarity of #TimesUp. I really love all of these dresses, but Angelina, Salma, Lupita, Naomi and Gugu were my favorites. The floral design on Salma Hayek's dress was simply stunning. There was some controversy about Kate's green Jenny Packham dress. It was said that royalty cannot take a stance on political or controversial matters. That made me think! Can you imagine a life where you can't vocalize your opinion? I wouldn't make it in the royal family! HaHaHa I hope Meghan makes it, because she's very opinionated! HaHaHa To me it's like being in a marriage where you have no say :S Oh well! I thought Kate looked pretty as well.

Angelina Jolie (Ralph & Russo), Jennifer Lawrence (Christian Dior Couture), Salma Hayek (Gucci)
Margot Robbie (Givenchy), and Greta Gerwig (Jonathan Cohen)

Naomi Harris (Zuhair Murad Couture), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Cardinali), Lupita Nyong'o (Elie Saab),
Letitia Wright (Gucci), Rungano Nyoni (?)

Laura Bailey (Emilia Wickstead), Octavia Spencer (Sachin & Babi), Andrea Riseborough (Elie Saab)
Haley Bennett (Chloe), Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge (Jenny Packham)

What Should You Look for When Buying Your First Home?

A home is not just a building where you happen to live. It is a place where a family lives together. Memories are made in homes, so it is important to make sure that you and your family are in a house that best suits you, while not costing too much money. When buying a first home, there are several important things to keep in mind.

Budget
There are many costs that are associated with purchasing a home. Having a budget and sticking to it is a crucial step. There are programs that can help you outline the costs that will be part of your purchase. These costs range from the solicitor’s fee and survey costs to insurance, setting up a mortgage, and decorating. These are all things that must be considered, on top of the cost of the house itself. The government has sponsored some programs to help people become property owners.

Mortgages
When it comes time to take out a mortgage, most prospective homeowners will have to have one. A mortgage is a loan that is taken out against a home to buy the home, paid back with interest. It is important to do plenty of research, as well as speak to an expert about the best options available to you.

Solicitor
While it is possible to take care of the legal aspects of your purchase on your own, hiring a conveyancer or a property solicitor is the norm. These experts will assist you in creating the contract and managing other legal aspects that you will encounter, like Stamp Duty and other connections with the Land Registry. You may be tempted to only reach out to conveyancers in your area, but there are many firms that work all over the United Kingdom. Conveyancing solicitors in Bristol offer assistance to those moving to and around Bristol but can offer guidance through their other offices all over the UK. Finding a good solicitor is important.

Structurally Sound?
It is important to consider the house itself before purchasing it. Not only should you visit the house, if you have concerns about any portion of the house, do not ignore it. It can be advantageous to have a surveyor come out and examine the property. They will check it for you and let you know if there is serious structural damage. An electrician can also examine the wiring. Faulty wiring can be very expensive to repair and can be dangerous to have in the home. Another thing to examine is the walls; check to make sure that there are no damp, mould, or leaks.

Repairing a leaky roof can be an expensive job. The fabric of the house is critical, but it is also important to consider the area around it. Is the area noisy? Are there shops nearby, or do you need to drive for every little thing? Can you easily access public transportation? These are all things that you will need to consider.

When looking to purchase a home for the first time, there are many things to consider, from the legal and financial aspects, to the house itself. Knowing what you need from your home, research, and assistance from experts can make this process less daunting.

All You Need To Have To Get Those Sparkling White Smiles

The state of your teeth determines a great smile and confidence of speaking freely in front of people, Yellowing of the teeth causes a person to lose faith in themselves and feel uncomfortable speaking or laughing in front people. Mostly the problem of discolored teeth is caused by bad eating habits; it can be due to lack of proper care of the teeth and also it can be hereditary. But the good news is there are various procedures and products that one can use to revive back the white and beautiful white color of their teeth.

Avoid Foods that Stain the Teeth
Some specific foods and drinks alter the color of your teeth, especially after prolonged consumption. Some of these foods and beverages include the wine, tea, and coffee. The foods that cause teeth to discolor are lemons, tomatoes and any acidic food. These foods cause the enamel of the teeth to erode hence causing the yellowing. Other things to avoid include the use of sweets or sweetened food like biscuits since they damage the teeth thus causing teeth decay. If you cannot restrain from eating these foods all the time, considering some are healthy to the body, eat them in moderation and always make sure to brush your teeth after eating them.

Lack of Proper Teeth Hygiene
It may seem like it's not a big deal failing to brush your teeth every day, but the behavior affects your teeth. Failure of cleaning the teeth causes the bacteria from the food to breed on the enamel thus causing the teeth to change. So, aside from resulting in bad breath, the growth of the bacteria also causes the teeth to alter the original color. So, make it a routine of brushing your teeth after every meal and use a medicated toothpaste. If you can't clean the teeth after all meals, ensure to clean at least two times a day.

Get your Teeth Whitened
If you want a quick remedy to gaining back your beautiful smile, then the best decision to make is to visit your local dentist. The dentists have all the necessary teeth whitening devices which work within a few minutes in retaining the white color of your teeth. Note that the doctor may require you to visit the hospital for more procedures to get your teeth white depending on the level of the damage.

Use Teeth Whitening Systems
If you don’t have time to visit the doctor to have your teeth whitened them a professional teeth whitening system is the best alternative. This is an easy to use kit that you can use at home to retain back your white teeth. One of the best systems to purchase is the pearly whites teeth whitening system which is available in various sales websites and outlets.

Get back your white teeth with the use of these procedures and products; they are easy to acquire and with available as well. When it comes to getting a whitening system, it is essential that you consult your dentist regarding its safety and if you are fit to use such devices to avoid further damage to your teeth.

NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation in Stromboli & Vanuatu, Radiant Creamy Concealer & Soft Matte Complete Concealer in Macadamia, Pore & Shine Control And Radiance Primer, and Orgasm Lipstick Review and Swatches

I've been testing the NEW NARS Natural Radiant Foundation for about a month now! Let's get started!

Sweet-Bittersweet-NotSweet
supersweet(run & buy it) sweet(really good,buy it) bittersweet(ok, issues)not sweet(not good,don't buy this stuff)

NARS Pore & Shine Control Primer ($36) - Sweet
NARS Radiance Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 35 Sunscreen ($36) - Sweet
When I purchased the NARS foundation, my Smashbox primer (Original, Primerizer, Primer Oil) didn't agree with it. The foundation looked cake-y, powdery and just sat atop my skin. I read an interesting article where you want to use water-based primers with water-based foundations; also silicone-based primers with silicone-based foundations. Two different bases (water and silicone) can cause your foundation to pill when layered on top of each other. Water and silicone do not mix well! DID YOU KNOW THAT? So I purchased two NARS primers to rectify the situation. The NARS Pore & Shine is a mattifying primer (picture of me wearing it bottom middle; the primer is white in color), that controls shine and prolongs your makeup. When I applied it to my dry skin it looked beautiful. It didn't feel drying. It gave me a great blur effect (pores & lines). I was like WOW! But when I applied the foundation on top, my skin looked DRY! It looked powdery, settled into my fine lines and overall didn't give me the finish I was looking for. So FYI, I wouldn't recommend that primer for dry skin types. I had a feeling that was the case, but wanted to try it to see. I feel Normal, Combination & Oily skin types will probably love it. So I then tried NARS' Radiance Primer (picture of me wearing it in the bottom right picture and the primer is peach in color). This primer revives dull & fatigued skin, improves vitality and enhances the look of makeup. Bottom line, it's a hydrating primer that will give your skin a GLOW! This primer felt really good to my skin and hydrating. It doesn't blur, but it truly preps the skin for foundation and gives you a radiant glow. I think a tad too much radiance...too much glow, but it doesn't feel heavy and you can tame it with translucent powder (which I had to do). I tried mixing both primers to achieve a balance, but the end result was too matte.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Macadamia (22 Shades; $30) - Bittersweet
NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer in Macadamia (16 Shades; $30) - Bittersweet
I've been wanting to try NARS Concealers. I thought this was a great time to give them a go. The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer is great if you don't have a lot to cover. It's lightweight and will do the job for what most people need to hide. I need COVERAGE! LOL So I like the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer. It did a much better job covering under my eyes, cheek and chin area. Do I love it more than Tarte's Shape Tape? No. The difference for me is the finish. I found the Soft Matte to be more powdery than Shape Tape. It's a creamy cream, but then it turns powdery. Also, I had a small amount of creasing (under-eye area). I also felt it moved somewhat, whereas my Tarte Shape Tape stays in place. These are good, but I feel there's better out there. I want to try Makeup Revolution's new concealer. I've heard it's a possible dupe for Tarte's Shape Tape. I'll have to see. Let me know if you've tried it! Let me know if you've tried these.

NARS Orgasm Lipstick (Satin Finish $28) - Supersweet
This lipstick came with my order. You guys may remember I purchased a NARS palette from Nordstrom that contained the Orgasm blush. Well I was happy to receive a deluxe Orgasm lipstick. Don't they pair well together? It's a peachy pink lipstick with golden shimmer. I absolutely love it! It has dimension to it. It reminds me of a PINK version of Lipstick Queens Let Them Eat Cake. If you have the Orgasm blush, purchase the lipstick as well. It's really pretty :D

NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation in Stromboli and Vanuatu (33 Shades; $49) - Sweet
Ok guys! Here we go! THE FOUNDATION! I initially ordered about four shades online. NONE matched. HaHaHa One matched my mom! LOL The other three I returned (I usually never return makeup. I was so off). Went into ULTA. Spent hours there trying to decide (the newest thing is to swatch test foundation on your CHEST! where a vneck to the store!). Purchased two (the ones listed here). Before you see them on me, let me give you some advice about the foundation that I experienced. SHAKE IT UP! SHAKE! SHAKE! SHAKE! I didn't initially and saw the difference (powdery, streaky etc). NARS recommends applying this with your fingers. I did, but for me it gave a thinner application. I preferred using my Beautyblender. It gave me full coverage, which I preferred. A little goes a long way! Place a dot on an area and work it in. Dot and work it in. Work in sections. Does it oxidize? I felt the color darkened slightly, but not drastically. NARS states this has a specialized skin-matching technology. It's going to match only to a certain point. I am NEW TO NARS! So I had to go through this entire song & dance to find what worked for me. IF YOU ARE NEW TO NARS, let me HIGHLY RECOMMEND you go to one of their counters and let a professional PROFESSIONALLY match you to your correct foundation, primer etc. It will save you a lot of headache and returning things. LOL Is it transfer resistant? IT IS! IT IS! I initially didn't think it was, because after I applied it I touched my nose and the foundation came off. I applied the rest of my makeup, touched my cheek and the foundation came off. BUT, if you give it 45 minutes to an hour to set, it's transfer resistant. Rub your entire palm on your forehead and it won't come off. So I think a lot of people didn't give it time (including myself initially). Also NARS states the longer you leave this foundation on, it gets BETTER and BETTER. It does! When you initially put this on, you will be like I paid $49 for this!?! HaHaHa I looked in the mirror several hours later and was like Oh, I look good! :D It does look like skin. It looks natural. It makes your skin look radiant. I love the sleekness of the packaging. I love that it has a pump. It's very sophisticated. You guys know I'm on a foundation kick this year, so I will be testing some other brands.

NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation in STROMBOLI
Here is Stromboli! The lighter of the two foundations. For Winter, I think it's a pretty good match. Look at how well it covered my dark areas, freckles and completely evened out my skin tone. I'm wearing NARS Radiance Primer, NARS Orgasm Blush & Lipstick, NARS Albatross highlighter,  NARS Soft Matte Concealer in Macadamia (there is a little creasing under my eyes), Laura Mercier Translucent Powder and IT Cosmetics Brow Power. Stromboli is very yellow. If you look at my chin area and then neck, you can see this. So I think I will add a touch of Vanuatu to correct that problem. But I like how bright Stromboli makes me look.

NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation in VANUATU (pronounced)
Here's Vanuatu! It's just a shade darker than Stromboli. When I look at my chin & neck, it's a really good match. Stromboli just seems to brighten me up more, so I will mix the two.

Final Thoughts!
I've watched countless reviews for this foundation on YouTube. The finish on everyone really looks good. But it won't look good (as you know what I went through) if you're not wearing the right primer, pick the wrong color or apply it wrong etc. I made all 3 mistakes and was ready to give this an F. HaHaHa It was frustrating. I even skipped several weeks blogging trying to deal with this. But once I got the winning combination down I was impressed. I saw it in my pictures. I wanted to share my experience, because others may go through the same. I hope this review helps.

Anastasia Beverly Hills DIPBROW POMADE in Medium Brown and BROW WIZ in Soft Brown Review and Swatches

A well defined brow, can really make a difference in your completed makeup look. I never dabbled with filling in my eyebrows before until I collaborated with IT Cosmetics last year and tried their Brow Power. This led me to want to try other brands and of course led me to the Queen of Eyebrows Anastasia Beverly Hills. I purchased her DIPBROW POMADE in Medium Brown and #12 Duo Brow Eyeliner Angled Cut Spooley Brush. I want to preface this by saying, the color is a little darker than I expected. You don't need much of this pomade! A little goes a long way, because it is highly pigmented. You're suppose to use the spoolie to brush your eyebrows upward and then use the other end to make hair-like strokes within your existing eyebrows. Let me emphasize that you should use LIGHT STROKES. I used light strokes, but it still gave me a "heavy-looking" brow. Even though it's the wrong color (1st picture), I just don't think her DIPBROW POMADE is for me. Don't worry, this pot won't go to waste. I can use it as eyeliner. It does a great job staying put. A deluxe sample of her Brow Wiz in Soft Brown came with my order. I much prefer not only the color, but also its pencil form. Other companies have come out with this form as well. I think consumers prefer the pencil-spoolie option over pomade. As you can see, it gives me a softer brow look. But honestly, I prefer the IT Cosmetics Brow Power. I feel it's creamier. The only negative is Brow Power only comes in ONE color. ABH offers shades 10-11 shades. Both products are great, but it's a matter of what you want to achieve. I've seen others create BEAUTIFUL looks with the pomade. But it's just too much for me. ABH has also come out with a BROW DEFINER! It looks similar to the Brow Wiz but has a thicker pencil and spoolie. I have a hunch its better. Will try. The BROW WIZ has a thinner point.

Lalicious Brown Sugar Vanilla Shower Oil & Bubble Bath Review

I have to tell you guys about Lalicious Brown Sugar Vanilla Shower Oil & Bubble Bath ($28)! This was a gift from my blog buddy & friend Rowena of Rolala Loves blog. It is SOOOOO GOOD! As you can see from my gif, I am down to the last drop! HaHaHa I'm savoring every last drop! Even though I have dry skin, I still get scared when I see the word OIL. You immediately think heavy and greasy! Well THIS IS NOT! It pours as a lightweight oil. It bubbles & foams up when you add water. It hydrates and moisturizes the skin without any residue, slickness or water beading on the skin. Your skin feels soft & beautiful! I absolutely love this stuff! I've been using this since December when she sent it to me and I will be buying another bottle. It also has an AUTHENTIC brown sugar & vanilla scent. It smells so good. I've reviewed other Lalicious products, but this has to be my absolute favorite. I was really shocked with this product, because their scrubs are oily, but this was not. So I love their shower oils & lotions the best. Thanks Rowena! I have a new favorite.
