Sugarpill Liquid Lip Color | Trinket, Truth or Dare & Strange Love Review and Swatches

Not Sponsored: One of my goals for 2019 was to try more indie (small) makeup & skincare brands. This year, I've reviewed such brands as Half Caked, Shea Shea Bakery, Micki Song Cosmetics, The Cottage Greenhouse, Farmhouse Fresh and Mad Hippie. Well add Sugarpill Cosmetics to this list! The brand in cruelty free. They make eyeshadows, pigments and lipsticks. I'm a lipstick girl, so I had to start there. I purchased TRINKET. The first time I saw it on Instagram I fell in love with the color. As have so have many others. When reading Sugarpill's ABOUT section, Trinket (which has a matte to sparkle formula) was their first liquid lipstick. Trinket is described as "a creamy matte mauve infused with luminous golden sparkles". It's so beautiful. My iphoneX couldn't capture those details from my selfie picture, so I also included the stock photo from Sugarpill. I'm not one for a lot of sparkles, but this has subtle sparkles in it. It gives that color an extra oomph! I also purchased TRUTH or DARE (I always think of Madonna HaHaHa). Truth or Dare is described as a "blackened burgundy with purple and gold sparkles." This color will be great for Fall & Winter. The last one I purchased was STRANGE LOVE. Strange Love is a "deep metallic oxblood red with sparkle." It will also look great during the colder months. I want to mention these are all creamsicle scented and have a mousse-y texture. The color looks rich, but the formula is not heavy. They're truly lightweight. They also have staying power. Break out your cleansing balm to get these off your lips. No budging. No smudging. They remind me of Dose of Colors.

Cocofloss Pure Strawberries Dental Floss Review

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links. I get commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post.

Not Sponsored - HOLD ON TO YOUR TEETH :) Cocofloss has been on my wishlist for a couple of years. Doesn't that sound funny? DENTAL FLOSS on my list for a couple of years.  I didn't jump to buy it, because I was determined to use up all of my old dental floss before INDULGING in this LUXURY (bougie bougie) dental floss. HaHaHa What did I know about the brand Cocofloss? Not much. It looked pretty. It looked delicious (they offer an assortment of yummy flavors). It looked designer and luxurious. Yes, I'm talking about DENTAL FLOSS :P But what about the brand Cocofloss? Cocofloss is owned by two sisters. One is a dentist (Chrystle). The other, an artist (Catherine). I can see how this baby came together! How is Cocofloss different from your regular dental floss? Cocofloss states your regular dental floss is slippery and simply moves plaque around. Cocofloss has filaments and scrubs away plaque (like a LOOFAH). The first thing I noticed was how different it looked in comparison to my old floss. It wasn't glossy or slick. More like a string. It had a faint scent of strawberries. The floss has no taste. I was hoping it screamed strawberries, but it doesn't :( No matter what fragrance [the brand says fragrance] you choose, EACH is "infused with microcrystalline wax, coconut oil, fruit oils, and fragrances". So expect a faint scent, no matter what flavor/fragrance you choose. BUT, I still give it a SUPER DUPER WUPER RATING! Why? THIS DENTAL FLOSS WORKS! I underestimated the prettiness of it. When you floss in-between your teeth HOLD ON BABY! IT IS POWERFUL! It will get everything out. My mouth felt SUPER CLEAN. I am thoroughly impressed. Don't let its prettiness fool you. I was using a well known name brand oral dental care floss and this beats it. HANDS DOWN! Did I say I was impressed? I AM. If you flip it over on the back, it keeps track of how much floss you have left. Its a cute little chart. You start with a 60 day supply, then 30 days, 2 weeks and then a Floss Party (buy some more). HaHaHa These ladies really make dental care FUN. I learned about this dental floss from my blog buddy Rowena at Rolala Loves Blog (here). When she raved about it, I knew it was really good. Also, this dental floss is "Free of parabens, SLS, PFAS [and is] Cruelty-free!" It gets rid of plaque, bad breath, helps yellow-stained teeth, and bleeding gums (makes them tougher). Put it on your list! Since we're talking about oral hygiene and care, I'm also VERY impressed with MARVIS TOOTHPASTE I just purchased some more AND they have a mouthwash. Look for a review soon. Cocofloss is my new favorite dental floss. Images: Dior Wonderland nail lacquer. Makeup Case.

Why You Should Share Creativity With Your Grandparents

If you’re working on making some positive changes to your life this year, you might be aiming to spend more quality time with the family. If you still have your grandparents, spending time with them over a craft project can be rewarding for both of you. Creative projects could be a great way to learn things together, learn more about your family history and build new bonds between you.

Creative projects can be very beneficial for the elderly, especially for those living in assisted living facilities. As well as being a great way to keep the mind more active, taking on a craft project together will help to prevent them from feeling isolated and lonely. You’ll be able to enjoy the satisfaction of making something together, create new memories and help them to feel happier.

Does your grandparent already have a creative skill? Perhaps they can knit, make clothes, build furniture or are good at woodworking. Take advantage of knowing an expert, and ask them to share their skills with you and teach you how to do it. This will be a lovely way to keep a skill in the family and help your grandparents to pass on something that has brought them joy during their life. Depending on what they can do, spending some time teaching you could help them to strengthen their memory skills or improve physical dexterity by keeping mind and hands active.

Take on a creative project together around your family history. Go through old family photographs or other keepsakes together and find a way to display them in photo albums, scrapbooks or some sort of display. You can learn the stories behind different pictures and save them for later generations, keeping family stories and memories going for longer. Why not take on a challenge like creating a quilt with squares depicting different family members.

Perhaps your family comes from a cultural background with traditional crafts, like folk art, basket weaving or making dreamcatchers. Sharing these crafts as a family is a lovely way to learn about your heritage, your family’s history and some traditional art methods. Get younger children involved to encourage them to learn about where they’re from and some of their cultural traditions. As you work, ask your grandparents to teach about other traditions, to learn more and to make them feel as though their memories and stories are valued.

You could try some crafts that fit in with other interests you and your grandparents share. For example, if you’re both green-fingered you could make crafts for the garden. Make pretty labels for plants or decorate pots for citronella candles. Preserve flowers from their garden by pressing them and using them in other crafts like fitting them in shadow boxes or in decoupage.

Take on a new challenge together, like learning to crochet, or how to make clothes. Spend a few weeks making Christmas gifts for the family together, like coffee mug cosies, comfortable scarves or small pieces of personalised jewellery.

Tips For Dressing For The Fall

With another season fast approaching, it’s time to take a look at your wardrobe and change it ready for the change in weather. Fall is a month where the leaves are starting to fall, there is a chill in the, air and it’s time to wrap up in a hundred and one layers. Never fear, here are some tips for dressing for the fall.

Do A Declutter First
First off, it’s good to declutter your wardrobe so that you can start with a fresh canvas. This is a great way of looking at what you currently have that might already been in your wardrobe, or what you've got available that was brand new last year for fall. A declutter is a fantastic way of resetting your wardrobe and to figure out exactly what it is you need and what you already have to utilize. As far as fast fashion is concerned, the more we can do to reduce the amount of waste we produce, the better. Try to get rid of as much stuff as possible, and vacuum pack your summer attire if you’re limited on space. You can then remove this completely from your wardrobe and pop it in your attic or in another storage space.

Plan To Layer Clothing
As it gets colder, you don’t want to be wearing thin materials, and if you do, you want to master the art of layering. Layering is one thing for all those who hate the cold weather, is a saving grace when it comes to this time of year. It’s important to be careful when layering because you don’t want it to make you look several sizes bigger than you actually are. Layering can be wearing a shirt with a sweater over the top. You might look to wear a long-sleeved top with a sleeveless dress over the top. Start experimenting with your layers and buy a mixture of shirts and basic tops that can go with dresses and thicker clothing like sweaters.

Get Some Durable Footwear
Footwear is an essential purchase for your fall wear because unfortunately, there’s likely to be more wet weather than there will be dry. It’s good to buy quality footwear that’s going to be durable. So look for those with a thicker sole and always consider what type of material the outer layer of the shoe is going to be. Leather is the best option if you’re after a material that’s going to last longer. You can also be synthetic and faux leather, but this might not last as long. Quality doesn’t mean that you have to spend a lot of money on it, but you are likely in most cases, to get shoes that will last much longer if you invest just a little more into them.

Boots are a typical fall footwear option and the thicker the sole, the better. You may also benefit from getting some type of protectant to put on the outside of your shoes to protect it from getting soaked with water or scuffed.

Invest In A Good Coat
Coats and outerwear, in general, are one thing that perhaps you only buy one or two of. A good thermal coat that’s waterproof is ideal for those days when it really is too wet and windy to wear anything else. Investing in your main coat though is certainly going to be worthwhile. When looking for a coat, you want one that’s going to keep you warm but perhaps isn’t too heavy. There’s a lot of luxury streetwear available out there that can really transform a casual style into something a little more exciting. The Upperroom Boutique is a good source of luxury streetwear, and so that might be a good place to start.

A good investment into a coat may set you back a couple of hundred dollars, but if you pick the right style, it’s something that may end up lasting you for years if it’s one that’s always on-trend.

Dress With Accessories
Next up are your accessories. As this is the season to layer, what another few bits between friends? Scarves, hats, and gloves are going to keep you warm, even when you may be lacking a few layers. Try to match up these three accessories or at least go for a basic color like black or grey that’s going to match up with more adventurous colors and patterns. There are plenty of variations of accessories to pick from, and this is where you can go a little overboard. However, it’s worth having a few scarves, a handful of hats and gloves, so that you have some choice to partner up with your outfits.

Find Your Color Palette
And most importantly, it’s good to find your color palette for the season. Trends and styles will change each fall season, and so it’s good to know what’s current but also what colors may suit your complexion and also are your favorite. Everyone has a favorite color to wear, and some even have a theme of colors that they wear regularly. It might be nudes, it could be bold colors or all black. It’s whatever works for you and what you enjoy wearing. You may suit a certain shade of color, but that doesn’t mean you need to wear it all the time. Experiment with color and find the shapes and patterns you like wearing too. There are really no rules when it comes to picking a palette for your wardrobe, just as long as everything has a purpose and that it goes together in a variation of outfits.

Dressing for the fall certainly has it challenges, but like any season it’s only around for a certain time so try to make the most of it. Invest in a good coat or two, buy footwear that’s going to be durable against the harsh weather and most importantly, find pieces that work for you and that you enjoy wearing. You are wearing the outfit, and when you’re confident, it shows through your clothing.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Scented Notebook

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links. I get commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post.

Not Sponsored: Happy Saturday Everybody! I wanted to get this post up today, because in my last Sephora Haul I received the cutest "free" gift. It's only available for a limited time. If you order a select Viktor & Rolf perfume (large size :P), then you get a Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Scented Notebook for "free" if you enter the code NOTED. I love notebooks! I'm always jotting or writing something down. It seems I have a penchant for PINK notebooks. My collection is shown in the picture below. I've accumulated such a cute assortment of notebooks. They make me SMILE.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Perfume
Do I really need to talk about their Flowerbomb perfume (Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Dillards)? It's been out forever! It has notes of vanilla, patchouli, praline, bergamot, mandarin, jasmine, freesia. I really like it. I've only had small samples of it, but decided to take the plunge with this deal to get the notebook & full-size perfume :P

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Scented Notebook
Let's get to the notebook! I was so enamored by the design that I didn't know it was scented until I received it.  Now, don't worry...it's lightly scented. Its not overwhelming at all. I couldn't imagine using anything overly scented, no matter how much I like the scent. But this notebook is a pretty light pink, has a Viktor & Rolf seal and black ribbon. The pages are white, but if you look on the side the pages have a metallic silver trim. It's very pretty. I can't wait to use this. I wanted to tell you about it, before the offer goes away and off of Sephora's website. It's a really cute notebook.

Bobbi Brown The Essential Deluxe Eyeshadow & Face Palette Review and Swatches

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links. I get commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post.

Not Sponsored: I purchased Bobbi Brown's The Essential Deluxe Eye Shadow & Face Set during Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale. I thought it was a pretty mix of soft neutrals (beiges, browns) and pinks. The packaging also caught my eye. I took the plunge and purchased it. I've used it for a month, so I'm ready to share my thoughts with you.

Sweet-Bittersweet-NotSweet

Bobbi Brown The Essential Deluxe Eyeshadow & Face Palette is  is Bittersweet

Bobbi Brown | Essential Deluxe Eyeshadow & Face Palette (Outer Packaging)
The outer box is really cool. Its an array of shades that you will find in the palette.
Pinks, beiges and browns always look so pretty together.

Bobbi Brown | Essential Deluxe Eyeshadow & Face Palette (Sleeve | Travel Case)
Within the box, is the eye shadow & face palette. There's also a sleeve/travel case to put the palette in. Its pink and made of sturdy material. Because its so flat and the palette itself is so chunky, I didn't think it would properly hold the palette. But it does (proved me wrong)! HaHaHa You have just enough room for the palette and space on either side so the palette won't slip. This sleeve could also be used for the many other palettes in your eye shadow collection. I know for me, when I travel, I'm always worried about packing eye shadow palettes. I don't want anything to break and get all over my other things. So something like this prevents a mess (to a degree - it has a snap closure) from happening.

Bobbi Brown | Essential Deluxe Eyeshadow & Face Palette (Palette & Swatches)
You receive 6 eye shadows, 1 bronzer, 1 highlighting powder, 1 illuminating bronzing powder and 1 mascara with this set. There's also a dual-ended brush to apply the eye shadows and line your eyes. The palette has a workable mirror. You have everything you need to add color to your face. I love the swirl design on the cover of the palette. It looks like marble. Everything swatched really well. Everything is pigmented. But when I looked at the swatches on my hand, I had a bad feeling. The makeup was very cool-toned. Which makes my skin look ashy & dull. I gave it a try anyway.

Bronzing Powder In Golden Light
This bronzer did nothing for me :P  Its not going to compliment everyone. In the past, I purchased a wonderful bronzer by Bobbi Brown. It was part of her Sandy Nudes Collection in 2015. Do you see the difference? It was warmer and lifted me up. This brought me down. So, the wrong bronzer can mess you up. I would suggest to the Bobbi Brown team to include at least one cool tone bronzer and one warm tone bronzer in these types of face palettes. But I don't know if that would even help, because everything seems cool-toned. She probably needs to offer two different palettes.

 Eyeshadows
In comparison to the Natasha Denona Biba Palette that I just purchased, I felt  these shadows didn't compliment me as well. You're also very limited in looks you can create with this palette. Despite the shades looking soft, I didn't feel they gave me a soft look. Again, these shades may look better on a lighter skin tone (as shown on the caucasian model below). As you can see, on the african-american model, the shades look very different. I didn't experience joy using this. HaHaHa This did come with a sample of her lipstick. Its called Neutral Rose Luxe Lip Color. It feels really good on the lips (very creamy), is pigmented and has a nice shine without being sticky or too glossy. As you can see, I did a video for this, but I'm not going to post it because I wasn't crazy about the result. HaHaHa It was just ok.

Bobbi Brown | Essential Deluxe Eyeshadow & Face Palette (Smokey Eye Mascara)
This palette contained Bobbi Brown's full size Smoky Eye Mascara (Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bobbi Brown, Macys, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, Sephora, Bergdorf Goodman, Selfridges, Harrods, QVC).  It's really good! Super black. It lengthens and provides volume. I have no qualms about it. It's described as "a kohl-pigmented mascara that delivers high drama by creating extremely black, stretched-out lashes in an instant." It's also paraben-free; sulfate-free; phthalate-free; sulfite-free; gluten-free.

So overall, this set was just ok. There was a lot of hit or miss. Not enough WOW for the price tag! Even if you like cool tones & neutrals, you can find better in a much cheaper palette. I just feel it's overpriced to just get OK & NICE results.
