Mason Pearson Hairbrush Review

Not Sponsored: I was gifted a Mason Pearson Pocket Bristle & Nylon Hairbrush in December 2014. I've been so impressed with the quality of this brush over this seven (7) year period, that I just replaced it with another one. Mason Pearson Hairbrushes come in several different sizes: Large Hairbrushes (shoulder-length or longer), Medium Hairbrushes (Mid-length to long hair), Handy Brushes (Short to medium length hairstyles), Military Style Hairbrushes (no handle) and Pocket Hairbrushes (Child hairbrush or problematic hair). This pink pocket brush is the cutest. Mason Pearson also makes combs (1,2,3,4,). You may be asking why am I using the Pocket Hairbrush!?! My scalp was damaged after trying a shampoo that dried my hair out and then a relaxer was used. My hair is slowly growing back, but often breaks. So I have to use a very gentle brush. So, once you figure out what size brush you need, then you must determine what type of bristles you want. The choices are Boar Bristle, Bristle & Nylon, Bristle or just Nylon. You can read about each on their website. Boar is too harsh for my hair and scalp. I love the mix of Bristle & Nylon. It's worked for me. With proper cleaning, this brush lasted years for me. It wasn't until this year that some of the bristles started falling out. It's an excellent quality brush, that really lays the hair down. I just wanted to share my thoughts. The Mason Pearson brand has a 130 year history. Here are links about their history and craft.

  1. Kim, the only brush I use is the MP boar bristled one:) Worth every penny. I've had it for more than a decade now and still going strong!
