Hello Kitty POP Phone: It's Purrr-fect!

Hey Everybody! How do you like my new Hello Kitty POP Phone? It's sweet isn't it!?! Not only does it look sweet, but the benefits are even sweeter. Let me fill you in. Have you heard chatter around the web about cell phone radiation? Your cell phone emits a certain amount of radiation and it can adversely effect your health.

Cell phone radiation? Yes! Studies are inconclusive, but long-term cell phone use (10 years or longer) and cell phone radiation are linked to brain tumors, cancer and other disturbing ailments. You can read about them here.

Check YOUR cell phone! My iPhone 4S emits 1.11 SAR (the SAR limit in the US/Canada is 1.6 watts per kilogram and in Europe it's 2.0 watts per kilogram). Click this link to see what yours is (it also gives a listing of cell phones with the highest and lowest limits). Astonishing isn't it? What's even more disturbing is that they're thinking about INCREASING the amount of radiation emitted. Read about it here.

Purchase a POP phone! When a representative contacted me about the Hello Kitty POP Phone and said how it could reduce my exposure up to 99%, I was all Kitty ears! HaHaHa I don't want to take ANY risks as it relates to my health. I'm happy to feature this product on my blog.

Native Union is the creator of the POP phone and they collaborated with Sanrio to create this really cute retro handset. You just plug it into your cell phone and you're protected from harmful radiation up to 99% when you talk on your phone. See if your cell phone is compatible here.

Cute phone! The box is adorned with pretty polka dots and the phone is soft to the touch. The Hello Kitty POP Phone comes in 3 wonderful colors (black, pink, white), has a custom molded 3D bow and cat ears. Plus it's only $39.99.

When it comes to your health, is there really a price? I have an aunt out of state that can TALK! HaHa So to use up my cell phone minutes, I'm going to use this headset, instead of placing the cell phone next to my head.

Here are some tips to protect yourself from cell phone radiation:

  1. Use a headset like the HELLO KITTY POP PHONE or talk on speaker.
  2. Carry your phone at least 1 inch away from your body (make sure the antenna is facing away from you).
  3. If you're pregnant, you should avoid carrying a phone next to your abdomen.
  4. Some researchers also caution against using your phone in areas with a weak signal since phones emit MORE electro-magnetic radiation during those times.
  5. Children, who have smaller and thinner skulls, should limit cell phone use, and people of any age should not sleep with an active phone next to the bedside or under the pillow. (Source)

Did everybody enjoy the Olympics and closing ceremony?

I thought London did a superb job and it was a blast watching! My favorite parts were Madness, The Pet Shop Boys, Stomp, LOVED Imagine w/ the late John Lennon & the children's choir, George Michael looks different, Annie of Eurythmics and that fabulous ghost ship, Spice Girls (I thought Posh was going to fall off that taxi!), Jessie J and the Freddie Mercury/Queen tribute.

BTW, Native Union also has a British POP phone!
Check out their site to see all of the styles. HaHaHa PEACE!!!

  3. What a fun giveaway! the pink one is too cute!

I always worry when I talk too long on my mobile phone and it heats up - the hotter it is the worse it is radiation wise I think! I used to use a handsfree kit for a while, now I just avoid being on the phone as much as possible and just text instead :)

  26. I'm horrified by this post. I mean, my dad has been saying for years that I should watch out for radiation from cell phones, but I never took it seriously seriously.

I use my cell phone all the freaking time, because as a freelance journalist, it is my lifeline. I don't have an office.

Plus, I don't have a landline at my apartment, so I keep my cell on my bedstand (one foot away from me) every night, so I can hear it if I need to. I'm paranoid about emergencies. I also use it has my alarm clock. :(

    What's wrong with me?!?

These Hello Kitty pop out phones are super cute and would be insanely helpful for me. Omg.

I like Native Union on FB now. And as for the color...I'm having a reaaally hard time deciding between the black and pink. They are both so pretty. I think the black. I have a pink cell phone case, so the black would be a nice contrast, especially with the pink bow. :)

Awesome giveaway. You always have such cool ones.

  27. Oh yeah, you know I follow you too, right? Haha. :)

  28. This is uncanny, the man was just reminding me about radiation again on the weekend... Just like Jen, my phone does stays about a foot or so on my beside table, so when the alarm blasts off I can reach it!

I'd love one of those kitty phones, in black! Genius stuff and clearly I haven't grown up yet.

Loved the closing ceremony - glad you enjoyed too, although I couldn't help but giggle when George was gyrating like he did in decades ago! Oh and Boris Johnson dancing to the Spice Girls! Brilliant.
