Laura Geller Beauty Garden Party 6-Piece Make-Up Collection Product Review

Ohhh a garden party!!! Garden parties can be so beautiful...flowers, petit fours, teacups and such! They can also be a nightmare...inclement weather, insects...OH MY! I picked up Laura Geller's Garden Party 6 Piece Make-up Collection when it was on sale two weeks ago. Was this garden party sweet or not? It was a mixed bag. I felt like the Mad Hatter had put this collection together and I was in makeup TRIPPY LAND. Let me tell you what worked and what didn't! >.<

Sweet-Bittersweet-NotSweet
supersweet(run & buy it) sweet(really good,buy it) bittersweet(ok, issues)not sweet(not good,don't buy this stuff)

Laura Geller BB Cream All-In-One Skin-Perfecting Beauty Balm SPF 21 - Not Sweet
Do you have luck with BB Creams? I don't! I have yet to find a BB Cream that will work with my skin. I think it's the fact that my skin requires coverage. So I always stick to foundations. Several blog posts have stated the best BB Creams are from Asia. If that's true or not, I do not know. I DO KNOW Laura Geller's BB Cream seems more like an illuminator. It illuminates your skin! However, I thought it was too shiny. I have super dry skin and it made it look oily (see picture below). The BB Cream in this kit only comes in medium and it offered NO COVERAGE for my skin (I think your skin has to be PERFECT to wear this alone). It comes out the tube beigey-brown, but provides no color when applied to the face. I ended up putting on my Urban Decay Naked Foundation and Benefit Boi-ing Concealer OVER this BB Cream. See the difference? For my regular readers, I'm almost out of my UD Naked Skin, so I'll be purchasing MAC & YSL soon.

Laura Geller Supreme Lip Spackle - Not Sweet
The purpose of this lip spackle, is to keep your lipstick in place. Well, IT DID but it felt like a glue stick! It's HEAVY & THICK! You better exfoliate the hell out of your lips, or your lips will look like you are on drugs girl! I know it's a primer for your lips (before applying lipstick), but damn. I HATED THE FEEL OF IT! LOL :P

Laura Geller Lipstick in Pink Mink - Sweet
This is where the Garden Party gets better! I must say it was a rough start! LOL I love Laura Geller's lipstick. And guess what? You can purchase this lipstick WITHOUT buying the kit! I wish I would've known! LOL Gorgeous color! It's a pink-brown color. Nice shine! Very moisturizing! I can't complain. I also love how her name and lips are imprinted on the lipstick. Very nice touch! Very classy!

Laura Geller Baked Gelato Vivid Flower Blush Pink Dahlia - Sweet
Isn't this blush gorgeous!?! It's a gorgeous dimensional flower, that's a raspberry pink and light dusty frosted pink. There's a little sparkle in this blush, but nothing that's annoying. It's really nice and gives you a healthy glow. It goes on very light. I wish it had just a little more punch to it, but it is buildable. So add and add on baby!

Laura Geller  I-Care Waterproof Eyeliner Caffe' Mocha - Bittersweet
This eyeliner fades fast! HaHaHa It's a beautiful brown when applied, but it fades over time. Waterproof? It may not run, but it will disappear. HaHaHa Surprisingly, I got a lovely look out of all of this! Thanks to my Urban Decay Foundation, Benefit Boi-ing, Laura Geller Lipstick and Blush. Kits are funny! They definitely can be a mixed bag. Oh well! That's my honest review!

Laura Geller Retractable Baked Powder Brush - Bittersweet
One more thing! The brush! I thought this was a blush brush, until I read the outer casing (powder brush)! I didn't quite understand this, because there's NO POWDER in the kit. There is however BLUSH! A blush brush would've been nice! HaHaHa This brush is strictly to powder your face. The bristles are longggg and soft! Put some powder on it, retract it and put it in your purse. You'll use it later that day :) That's how I use mine. If you want this kit, don't pay full price (I didn't! Wait for a really good sale!). This garden party wore me out!!! I'm going to relax by the pool this weekend and catch up with your blogs. Have an awesome weekend my friends! I'll see you next week! <3

  3. Love a Garden Party! Great theme, too bad it's a mixed bag, at least you didn't pay full price for it. The pink mink lip color looks great on you. Glad some of the items worked out! Have a wonderful weekend!

  6. What a shame about the duds in there. They looked great too. I haven't found a BB cream that works for me either, I've given up actually. The last one I tried made me look like I had been out playing in the dirt, hahaha. It was so horrible, like a very bad fake tan & it made my skin feel greasy. I just use foundation as it evens out my skin tone anyways. The products are gorgeous though, I love the designs :) At least there was some good ones in there for you too. Super review doll. Have a great weekend xx

  7. Oh Kim, the kit sounds pretty disappointing! Though the pink lipstick and the blush looks very good, the whole set doesnt inspire me at all. I have ur same trouble with BB creams, I give up at the end!:) Enjoy the pool and have a marvelous weekend Kim! Hugs! xo

  8. Such a shame that they weren't all great products for you Kim! Especially the BB cream - I hope you find the perfect one for you soon!

I couldn't use my regular BB cream during pregnancy because of the ingredients, so I switched to another one that was okay, but not as good as my regular one. Makes getting ready really easy, one cream and I'm done! Worth hunting down the right one for you :)

  10. Wow! You're so right about the BB Cream just looking at that picture. I have problem skin and need coverage, so that would be a no-go for me. I do like the Garnier one though. Have u tried that one?
At least, that lippie is great though:D You look fab in that colour, Kim.

  12. Such a shame that a couple of products aren't at all what you expected. I really like the design of the blush, though. :)

  13. The red lipstick and the blush look great. I don't use a BB cream as my skin is oily and it gives an extra shine which is not cool. I only use powder. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Have a great weekend by the pool!

  15. I love the way the Pink Mink lipstick and Pink Dahlia blush look on you Kim! So pretty! Such a shame that not everything was a winner in this set but at least a few things worked out. BB creams from Asia definitely offer better coverage but the downside is the limited shades.

  17. This collection sounds like it has some great hits - but some serious misses, too. I have the same problem with BB Creams that you do, Kim. I have oilier skin and BB creams just make me look shiny! Estee Lauder has some of the best ones I've tried, but even so... Foundation is the way to go for me.

  20. The Laura Gellar lipstick and blush is beautifully packaged I must say. And wow yes that BB cream does not offer any coverage. But then if your skin was perfect you probably wouldn't need it haha.

  28. What a mix bag it is. I'm glad you didn't pay the full price for it. Initially I thought the BB cream was amazing coz I thought the left pic was the before and the right pic is the after. What a shame that you've to pile foundation and concealer to achieve the pic on the right. That said, UD foundation and Benefit concealer look so promising. The lipstick is lovely and I love the embossing.

  33. Although, I love the lipstick details, it's too bad about the kit. I don't really use BB cream, but the only one that I bought last year that worked was actually one of the Japanese and Korean brands, because my skin has yellow undertones. Hope you can relax and enjoy your week.

Such a shame about everything else. I would like to try some BB or CC creams, but I haven't heard nothing great about them, except from Asia.

  44. The blush look so adorable and all the pictures are so pretty. It is such a shame the products don't turn out to be so great . BB creams are tricky business, some people just never find the right one, i was until I found one good enough from TBS, it wasn't perfect but still.

  45. The blush looks so adorable that I would not want to use it and get mess up. The lipstick though(red) looks fabulous on you and glad that some ended up being "sweet". Thanks for keeping in touch and for all the sweet words.
