Although this hand cream comes out marshmallow-y thick, rich & creamy (it contains shea butter, macadamia oil and marshmallow)...it's very light when it comes to hydration and moisture. If your skin doesn't require much moisture, then this will work for you. If you have dryyy...camel....palm tree ...cactus ... or sahara dry skin, like mine .... it will suck up Hand Food and then laugh at it. This isn't for dry skin girls, unless you want to continuously apply it. You'll need something much richer and definitely more moisturizing.
I like the fact that it's fast absorbing, non-greasy nor oily, but it still doesn't pack a punch in my opinion. There's also the scent. It falls under their Original Pink Fragrance family of scent (in which I'm not a big fan of). So you definitely want to smell this before purchasing. I will say it smells better (scent calms down) after it has dried. Hand Food has a huge cult following! MANY people love and even praise it! I personally think it's over-rated and that you can find much better hand creams out there. To read my thoughts on other Soap & Glory products. Click HERE.

supersweet(run & buy it) sweet(really good,buy it) bittersweet(ok, issues)not sweet(not good,don't buy this stuff)
Soap & Glory's Hand Food is Bittersweet.
Hi Kim, thanks for the review on this product and I trust your opinion about it! Have a wonderful day.

And this is why I like your reviews - you call it how you see it and how it is! Great honest review :)
ReplyDeleteThe Dragonfruit Diaries
Hi Kim, Id probably purchase it only for the scent since as you said isnt good for dry skin and when it comes to hands, I usually prefer something more hydrating and nourishing! Have a good Tue Kim, hugs! xo
ReplyDeleteToo bad it's not as amazeballz as the other Soap and Glory stuff you reviewed. The ingredients all sound good, but if they don't do what they're supposed to do....sigh....
ReplyDeleteThanks for this honest review, Kim. You rock! :)
Thanks for the review! I also need something more hydrating for my skin. I have to say that the packaging of Soap and Glory is always so cute!

ReplyDeleteThis could work for me except for mid winter lol
ReplyDeleteI love this product your review is to the point and very detail.

Great review - I'm picky with hand creams, I need lots of hydration but also want something light and non greasy!
ReplyDeleteYour reviews are the best. If something is not worth it I definitely like to know. I would like to get a product like this though.
ReplyDeleteI agree -you can find better products out there but at the same time I do love the scent of this….actually most of S&G Products!!
ReplyDeleteA lot of their products are over-hyped though but that's down to the beauty bloggers who love their products regardless! My favourite hand cream is from The Body Shop…it's actually a Body Butter and it's mandarin, so refreshing with a touch of sweetness…it sinks into skin quickly and leaves them feeling silky soft! :)
Long comment - sorry!

P.S - just followed you on Instagram and Twitter! :) xxx
i have very dry skin so i would need something richer! but shea butter, macadamia oil and marshmallow sound like amazing ingredients!
ReplyDeleteI like it that it isn't oily and have to smell great :)

I've found myself drawn to this at Sephora but wasn't sure how it would work so your review couldn't be more perfect Kim! It does sound lovely but I think this would be a pass for me based on what you said about it's hydrating abilities. Thanks for another honest review!

Good, honest review! I have super dry hands, so I doubt that this would work for me.

I guess this would not be a choice for me.
ReplyDeleteI continue to be a total fan of Crabtree and Evelyn hand creams and if those are not available, L'Occitane hand creams work marvellously well.
Great review!! My hands get dry, but not crazy dry, and this works well for me! I got a small tube of it for $5 at sephora but I don't think i would buy a full size
ReplyDeletei have extremely dry skin, so this would probably laugh at me, too :)
ReplyDeleteI love that you're always so honest in your reviews, Kim! My skin isn't super dry so this might work for me... but I tend to prefer more moisture anyway, so I'll probably stick to my old favourites from The Body Shop!

It's good that the hand cream is non-greasy even though it is thick. Looks like a very nice product.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear this one was bittersweet. Good to know, though. :) Non-greasy is one plus--no doubt. Hugs on your evening, Kim! T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com

ReplyDeleteI usually have dry hands. Even after hand washing clothes without gloves, my hands get flaky. So, this probably isn't for me. And I'm very particular about the scent too when I use lotions or creams. Thanks for the honest review.

I usually have dry hands during winter but I use oils as hand creams (coconut being most favorite) and they work very well for me. Love the packaging of this brand. Very honest and informative review. :)

Might be a good product for summer - when hands aren't too dry but you want some extra moisture :) Definitely sounds like it's not good for winter's dry hands though!

Great review.i prefer abit oily for my hands.
ReplyDeleteBut maybe i would try it for the scent

Perfect, that's sounds good to me! Love your reviews girl:).

I actually have this cream and found it to be great for handbag usage but not for all-the-time use. I appreciate you stopping by :)
ReplyDeleteBoo sucks that it isn't moisturizing enough, but hey, at least it has pretty packaging :)

Too bad it was bittersweet because it does look like it would be good based on the packaging. I realize I haven't done a beauty/skincare product review in some time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I think these products are quite good!

ReplyDeleteHi Kim, First of all, Thank you so much for the guest post! Love it! I'm having so much fun in Paris but wifi sucks in our hotel. I'm in Barcelona right now and wifi is so much better! Aww, it's too bad this cream doesn't work out. Talk to you soon. :)

ReplyDeleteYou're right, I have seen many rave reviews about this, but your warning about the powerful scent gives me reason to stay away.

Well i definitely won't be getting this cream, as it's 0 for 2 in my books: bad smell and not hydrating! Thanks for the info!

I would love to try it out, never used this brand, I'll check if this is available in India. Great review honey as always <3
ReplyDeleteI am probably quite biased as I do love Soap and Glory's body butter...and I remember doing a review on Hand Food some years ago. I have been using Hand Food on and off, as somehow the moisturising properties only seem to last for an initial period before it wears thin again. But I agree its not for everyone. have a fabulous weekend Kim!

Great honest review! I love the name "Hand Food" :) How can it contain marshmallows though? And why would that be good? :)

I love your honest reviews. I don't think I will be buying this soap.
ReplyDeleteI really want to try soap and glory products! I never have before!

The smell alone the way you describe it Kim smells good enough to eat. I don't have a terribly dry skin, i guess normal but I want to try this anyway. Their packaging is always cute.

ReplyDeleteWonderful review, Kim. I wouldn't be tempted with the cream, but I swear by S&G foot buffer - it's THE BEST. As for the creams, Margaret Dabbs product are the one with the magic factor. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat review Kim! I haven't tried this product, but I agree there are some products out there that are so overrated. Thanks for sharing your honest opinion!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, Sahara cactus dry. That is just genius and you get points for making dry skin sound so hip :)). Lovely post darling...as always.

i like soap & glory! they used to do the best ever cleanser, but their other stuff is kind of hit and miss. but i am all for yummy smelling things :D
ReplyDeletesteph / absolutely-fuzzy.com
This stuff works for me, but in the long run for using it, it's a bit hit and miss. Doesn't give my hands what I need every day. Sometimes they are drier than other days and I don't think this often works and other days it does. I prefer other natural hand creams to this like L'Occitane or The Body Shop even! xx
ReplyDeleteMy hands are very dry even in Summer, sometimes I apply pure shea butter and they eat it up! So this is not the product for me!
