Using A Cordless Iron For The Best Look

I found the TIPS about ironing in this sponsored post SO interesting! I need to get a cordless iron. But also read what they have to say about hair straighteners (hair flat irons), dark heavy clothes, paper clips and aluminum foil! Who would've thought!?! Happy Sunday!

Wireless: Using a Cordless Iron for the Best Look
In the throes of a laundry crisis, that mound of wrinkled shirts seems to expand its limits like the universe itself. This continues indefinitely, or until the morning you're faced with the ultimate dilemma: look anything but dapper when you leave the house, or face the ironing, head on. Unfortunately, there’s no magic word which can persuade your shirts to iron themselves, but there are a few tips and tricks which might just help you steam through your laundry and emerge, cotton fresh, from the other side of the ironing board, triumphantly clutching a ream of beautifully pressed clothes. Read on for some shortcuts to crisp shirts...

Invest in a cordless iron
With a cordless iron, you can at least press your collar and cuffs into shape, find the patience to tackle plaits and skim over deep wrinkles without cursing a tangled flex every 30 seconds. It’s much safer, too, with a static charging base which is  less likely to become entwined with long sheets, trip you up, or attract the attention of curious cats. The portability of a cordless iron also means you can give hanging clothes and curtains a quick, freshening steam without wasting time arranging them on the board.

Know the technique
Firstly, try to iron shirts while they're slightly damp. Not only will this give the cotton a crisper finish, it saves money on tumble drying! Have some water in a spray bottle to hand, or use this feature of your iron liberally on stubborn spots. Iron dark, heavier clothes inside out to avoid leaving a sheen on the outside of the fabric, and if you're looking for an executive finish, deploy a spritz of nicely scented starch.

Smoothen out the kinks
Perhaps you’re rushing out to a meeting and notice a giant crevasse running down your skirt. There’s no time to get the ironing board set up, but equally, you can't leave the house wearing the cotton equivalent of the Grand Canyon. Plug in the hair straighteners, put them on a low heat setting, and smooth over the hot mess that used to be your garment. Don’t leave the heated plates on one spot too long, and use only in an emergency.

Bonus hacks
In addition to the above, you can really streamline your efforts at the ironing board by lining it (under the cover!) with aluminium foil, which will reflect heat back into the garment you're working on. Always hang up freshly pressed clothes immediately, and if you are negotiating your way around tricky plaits, use some paper clips to keep them looking origami-crisp.

The tips above can help you look smarter and sharper. Remember that first impressions last, and you don't want the crumpled clothing stealing the show!
