Eggwhite Soap Review

Have you heard of egg white soap? I briefly read about it a couple of years ago. Egg white soap is suppose to help clean and reduce pore size, give one a clearer complexion and soften skin. I decided to give egg white soap a whirl and below are my thoughts.

 Sweet-Bittersweet-NotSweet
supersweet(run & buy it) sweet(really good,buy it) bittersweet(ok, issues)not sweet(not good,don't buy this stuff)

Victoria Lanolin Agg Tval Egg White Facial Care (Lanolin & Rosewater) - Sweet

This particular brand (Victoria Soaps) was recommended by the magazine I was reading. It's a Swedish family run company that has been making soap since 1905. This IS soap! So I knew it would be drying, but I shockingly never experienced any redness, dry patches, irritation or flakiness while using this (and I have dry/sensitive skin). However, I did not use this every day (but every three days or twice a week)! You wet the soap and lather it up (it lathers really well). Apply it to your face. Then let it sit for a couple of minutes. I say 1-2 minutes before rinsing and not 5-10 as recommended (too drying). I rinsed THEN used my regular cleanser and moisturizer. YOU WILL need a moisturizer! This is too drying to use on it's own. Let me tell you, my skin is clearer and softer. My pores do look reduced and my skin is tauter. I was getting some pesky breakouts on my chin and it's clearing them up. If you don't want to use this all over your face, just apply it to affected areas. It works like a charm. This soap would also be great for oily skin types. I don't consider this an everyday cleanser for ANY SKIN TYPE! I would treat it like any mask you use (1-3 times a week). This company also makes a lot of shea butter soaps, scrubs and lotions so I'm interested in trying those. Their packaging is really cute. This specialty box was $4.00, but where I purchased it (beautyhabit.com) sells bars for .50 and a large box of 6 for $20.

Belgian Soaps Eggwhite Soap (Camomile Flowers & Lecithin) - Sweet

Then I saw these cute little Belgian Eggwhite Soaps ($5 for 1 or $20 for 6). This particular Eggwhite Soap was not as drying as the one above. It was more moisturizing, but less effective with my breakouts. But this does a great job softening and my skin felt firmer. So in the "nut egg-shell", it just depends on what's going on with your skin. You may not want to try any of these. HaHaHa I'm just a curious person and love to give things I've never tried a whirl (and of course tell you guys about it). That's why I blog! Plus I collect cute packaging :) I also read that you can use real eggs (only the egg whites), mix them together and apply to your face to achieve the same affect! So I may try that >.<

  1. The first bar sounds really interesting to me! I tend to get cystic acne on my forehead and chin around that time of the month and have pretty large pores on the apples of my cheeks so this sounds like it would be a great addition to my routine once or twice week to keep everything under control. You added in some great advice on how to best use these, too :D

  2. Oh wow, I have never heard of egg white soap but this looks so interesting! I think rather than suffering from oily skin, I usually have very dry skin! Do you think it would also be good for that, too? I usually just stay away from junk food and try to get regular sleep and I don't tend to have too much acne, although I really love the concept of natural soaps for your skin!!

  3. I love the cute European style packaging of both of these brands and I'm always so nervous to try actual soaps on my face because they never seem to get my eye makeup off and feel like there's a residue left behind, but I'd still give these a try because the egg white aspect seems really interesting! Thanks for sharing Kim and I agree that it's probably best for really oily skin.

  8. This sounds awesome, never heard of it before. Glad the one wasn't as drying as the other. Soap usually dries out my skin. I might give the egg white a go on the face, you can buy just egg whites now, so I won't have to separate the yolk. Sometimes eggs make me feel ill, hahaha!! All gooey and snotty. LOL!! Super review doll :) Xxx

  11. Kim, like the other commenters above, I haven't heard of this kind of soap till now. Wow! Who knew? The second one sounds great, although because I have super oily T-zone, the first one is probably right up my alley too:D

  14. My skin is oily, so I'd love to try the Victoria Lanolin Agg Tval Egg soap! Btw, I know that recipe. It makes your skin whiter, but I prefer my skin tanned, haha.

  17. I feel like this could be a great face product for some people, but for me, I just know it would be too drying - I never put true soap anywhere near my face, and I never will if I can avoid it! Loved reading your review, though, Kim :)

  22. This soap sounds like a wonderful treatment Kim! Egg whites are supposed to be very beneficial to the skin. I'm not one for bar soap since i never know how to store them but I'm currently using egg white pore foam from Skinfood to wash my face.

  25. This is an entirely new concept to me.. I'm learning so much through blogging haha! It's great to hear it worked for you and left your skin feeling noticeably smoother. I wouldn't be able to experiment with this as I'm finally beating a breakout on my chin and wouldn't like to risk that returning, however this was interesting to read about! :)

I've never heard of egg white soap! What an interesting product. I really need help with my skin, clearing it and making my pores smaller, maybe I'll try this if i can find it in the store! I still get breakouts on my chin and T-zone, which is annoying, but I have been trying new products and things are clearing up but I need to be more consistent!
Thanks for sharing, and having a great weekend! xo

  42. The boxes for the soaps are very cute. Although it is a Swedish company the look is almost a bit Pennsylvania Dutch to me. I've never tried a DIY egg white mask...looks like I've got some plans for tonight!

  43. I would give the first one a try but, as you suggest, use it only on affected areas. I might apply egg white as an alternative :-)
