Too Faced Matte Chocolate Chip and White Chocolate Chip Eye Shadow Palettes Review and Swatches

I don't know what to do with Too Faced! I love them. I hate them. For Black Friday, they came out with two MINI eye shadow palettes. The concept (as usual) was so cute (and different)! FUN-SIZE!?! You know, like fun size candy that is given out for Halloween!?! Yes, please! Everyone was SUPER-HYPED to get these! The Matte Chocolate Chip, could only be purchased from Too Faced dot com (still available). The White Chocolate Chip was exclusive to Sephora (they have it listed as Coming Soon Hmmm). Now get this! The Matte Chocolate Chip is simply a smaller version of their first Chocolate Bar palette. It doesn't contain all the shades from the original, but only 11 shades. I used Smashbox primer on my hand and that's about as pigmented as I could get with these. I have Too Faced everything! Too Faced just doesn't do matte shadows very well. So I didn't expect much from these. But looking at my Original Too Faced Chocolate Bar Swatches compared to the Matte Chocolate Chip below, the original was MUCH BETTER (you do not need this mini version). In my opinion, the White Chocolate Chip was better. It had more SHIMMER SHADES! Too Faced does good with shimmers & foil type shadows. The mattes were the bummers in these. But honestly, if you have the UD Naked eye shadow palettes, you have these shades! LOL To want these two palettes to USE, is a waste of money! I'm a makeup collector, so I wanted them for the packaging. They look so cute in my makeup room. Many beauty enthusiasts on social media felt the same way I did. It's hard to predict Too Faced! They have a bunch of HITS. Then they have MISSES. You just never know! There were no swatches of these before purchase, because many wouldn't have purchased if they would've known. Too Faced made some quick money with this. They've already previewed their Easter palette. All I can say is LOOK TO SEE IF THERE ARE MORE SHIMMERS THAN MATTES! That's what I'll be doing for now on UNLESS I REALLY WANT THE PACKAGING. Those are my thoughts ;) I love their candy bar theme! I'll have a review of their new Peach Collection soon. It's now permanent due to its popularity.

  1. I totally agree, Kim - Too Faced does great shimmer shades (some of my favourites, in fact) but their matte shades are really lacking. My daily eyeshadow is a combination of mattes from Urban Decay, who make my favourites, and shimmers from Too Faced. I'll consider the white chocolate chip palette if it comes back in stock at Sephora!

  2. I've heard these were hits and miss too. I kind of was surprised on how tiny they are, I knew it was a smaller version but I still expected them to be bigger and have bigger pans for the shadows. I like the look of the matte one, but it's a shame they aren't good mattes! I think my semi sweet chocolate bar palette has good matte shadows! The packaging is definitely cute though. I'm excited for your thoughts on the peach collection kim!

  3. Oh Kim I can't wait to see your makeup room! I had wanted to get the White Chocolate Chip palette but missed out on it. After seeing all the mixed reviews, I'm really glad I wasn't able to get it cause I probably would've ended up returning it. The packaging is super adorable but it would be wasted on me since I'm not a makeup collector and I prefer function LOL ;p

  5. I have not come across a good review on this yet; you were kinder than most haha! I don't remember if you reviewed the Sweet Peach palette but that's one I have my eye on!

  6. I'm so glad you reviewed these! I usually only hear praises about anything Too Faced and it's super refreshing to read this post of pros and cons. The packaging is great so you're super tempted to buy, but I think you're right about swatching everything before

  7. I really wanted these for the packaging but haven't heard that great things about limited edition too faced shadows. I'm glad I passed since I already seem to have all the colors. But I think they'll make a cute addition to your collection :)

  8. These palettes look so beautiful, but it's a shame that the mattes aren't that great. The White Chocolate Chip palette packaging is just so cute, but I probably wouldn't use it much.

  11. good to know that the original is better than this mini version...but omg the packaging is equally adorable:) Perhaps the mini one is even more cute (not that I would buy it only because of it).

  12. It's always a bad or good surprise with Too Faced!! I wouldn't buy any of these palettes because I like two shimmer shadows out of all of them. The packaging is the cutest though! Baci, Valeria - Coco et La vie en rose FASHION & BEAUTY

  15. I belive I have the first chocolate palette and I too have noticed that the shimmer shadows are easier to work with and are much prettier. I also have the NAKED and much of the naturals in that palette are in fact quite similar like you've said too, haha. I love the packaging of these, as always, Too Faced always gets it right with their packaging! I want to see your makeup room, girl! You have to do a YouTube video tour, I bet it's so cute and I know that you have quite the collection!

  16. These are cute because they are small little chocolate bars but they never really interested me. Especially since the mini matte one is basically most of the colors in the larger Chocolate Bar which I own. Thanks for sharing! I love my Sweet Peach Palette though..now I'm gonna go look into their Easter palette lol

  17. I don't think this is something I would pick up - I am very drawn to cool packaging but these do not seem that interesting.

  18. I love all things Too Faced too, but these definitely do not appeal to me at all. They look very chalky and the colours are not very inspiring to creat great makeup looks. It really is a cute concept though. Thanks for the honest review. Xx

  19. I think that if you already own the original Chocolate palette, this is not a must have, but I like the packaging of the white chocolate!
