Where to Travel While in Ireland?

If you are an outdoor lover, there are a lot of places in Ireland that will excite you. The region has a wide biodiversity, acres of wild countryside, impressive villages, and beautiful coastal cliffs. Ireland also has fascinating UNESCO World Heritage sites that you can photograph. The surprisingly varying scenery makes the place a great travel destination. Let us look at some of the notable places to travel in Ireland.

Ring of Kerry
This scenic trail runs for about 120 miles through mind blowing landscape. Some of the sites that you will encounter in this landscape are heather-topped mountains, glacial lakes, and lush meadows. Other places worth mentioning are the Kerrry Way (the region’s oldest and longest walking path) and Beara Peninsula. You can as well visit Killarney National park which hosts the endangered wild red deer and Ross Castle.

Cliffs of Moher
This natural attraction still remains the most visited place in Ireland. These amazing cliffs run for about 8 km from Doolin to Hags Head. Most people visit this place because it still remains the most spectacular coastal walk in Ireland. The cliffs were formed by a huge river delta approximately 320 million years ago. There is also an incredible view of the Galway Bay, mountain ranges, and Turk Mountains.

The Giant’s Causeway
This is a UNESCO World Heritage site which proves that the nature can provide beautiful tourist attractions that are naturally formed. This place is made up of about 40,000 polygonal basalt rocks. The amazing thing is that these rock columns were formed a long time ago through volcanic activities. The rocks stretch along the coastline making gigantic stepping stones. This area still remains the most popular excursion site in Ireland. You will have an opportunity to walk on peculiar pathways provided by nature.

Glenveagh National Park
This is the second largest National Park in Ireland covering 14,000 acres. This is the number one attraction site where fishermen, hikers, and tourist from all over the world come to visit. You can enjoy your drink on viewing the beautiful scenery. You can as well go fishing for trout and salmons. We can also not afford to forget mentioning the park’s rare wildlife. Some of the notable wild animals that are special to the park are the red deer and Golden Eagle.

The Burren
This amazing landscape is made up of rocky mounds and fissures. Walking across this surface is likened to visiting the moon. The rocks were formed through acid erosion that occurred thousands of years ago. The karst landscape seems more of a jigsaw of clints and grikes teetering 300m above ocean level. As you walk across the landscape, pay attention to the wide variety of insects and plants. The colorful wildflowers growing between the rocks are also beautiful to look at.
