Tarte Toasted Eyeshadow Palette Review and Swatches

There are two more products I purchased on sale (during the Thanksgiving holidays), that I would like to review for you this week. Today, Tarte Toasted $46. You guys know I love my Urban Decay Heat Eyeshadow Palette, but I kept going back & forth as to whether I should purchase Tarte Toasted. I was initially excited when Tarte mentioned mid-year that they were coming out with this palette. Then months & months passed and no Tarte Toasted. While Tarte delayed, Urban Decay came out with Heat and it became the IT warm-toned palette of the year. Many beauty enthusiasts said, if you have Heat you really don't need Toasted. Now that I have both in my hands I pretty much agree. The quality of the shadows in Toasted are really good, but I think the one's in UD are superb. So then it comes down to colors! The only difference I see is that Toasted has some slightly lighter ORANGER shades (warmth, flame & shimmer) than HEAT. I see those slight variations, so I'm glad I purchased this ON SALE (don't think I would want about 3 different shades and pay full price HaHaHa). Those colors are going to work well for me this Summer. Let me know if you purchased both palettes, only one or another warm palette instead! I'd love to know why :) I'll be creating some looks using this next year.

  1. I don't wear a lot of warm-toned eyeshadows, so Urban Decay Naked Heat is a palette I haven't paid much attention to. But when it comes to palettes, Urban Decay offers the best as far as I'm concerned. It's a shame Tarte didn't get theirs out sooner, but based on the colours you've swatched and what I know about the formulas from both brands, I think UD still would have won this contest.

  2. This looks like a great palette for anyone who is into warm toned shadows. Unfortunately Tarte is on my ban list after that racist meme incident that struck a very bad personal chord with me.

  3. While I think the UD Heat is pretty, I have had all 3 naked palettes and barley ever reached for any of them at all. I recently sold them. I def use all of my Tarte palettes. I also like the more orange/less red shades in the Toasted. That is my reasoning for choosing this one over the UD Heat. Great review!

  4. I think the shades looks great but for once I totally dislike the packaging.

  5. I feel like the Toasted palette is more subtle than the Heat palette. I also really like the variety in the shimmer shades while the Heat palette has very similar shimmers. I like both palettes but I have a problem with eyeshadow palettes... lol

  6. I am no longer supporting Tarte for personal reasons but that aside, I find their palettes are too similar. I wish they would release a colourful one, bright and bold.

  7. Wow, this is a gorgeous palette! If I didn't already have the Naked Heat, I would grab this - the only thing I think is missing from Heat is a gold eyeshadow!

  8. I’ve had my eye on this palette because I love the tartelette in bloom palette so much! But since the UD naked heat is so similar I decided to skip it! Your swatches look great Kim!
