On Netflix: MInimalism, Kevyn Aucoin Beauty & The Beast In Me, Ella Brennan Commanding The Table, 7 Days Out World's Biggest Events, Solo A Star Wars Story

Hey Everybody! I hope you had a great weekend. It was "cold" in New Orleans, so I stayed glued to the tube. Besides watching my favorites, Victoria and Marie Kondo Tidying Up, I also tuned into Netflix. Last year, I shared some of my favorite documentaries with you (here & here). I want to do the same this year. Add these to your watch list.

1. Minimalism - If you are in the process of minimizing your life, thinking about it or you're already a minimalist you will love this documentary! It chronicles individuals that have achieved minimalism. They talk about how they felt when they had a lot of stuff and how they felt when they got rid of it. They also discuss how happier they are without a lot of things. I found this to be very enlightening and true. It may give you that extra push to do more in your life.

2. Kevyn Aucoin Beauty & The Beast In Me - Kevyn Aucoin was a popular makeup artist in the 80's and 90's. He was from LOUISIANA! He died in 2002. His story was so heartfelt & heartbreaking. This documentary discusses a series of events that happened in his life from beginning to end that tormented him. Anyone that loves beauty & fashion will find interesting the celebrities/models he worked with and how he used video to document his passions.

3. Ella Brennan: Commanding The Table - Another LOUISIANIAN! Ella Brennan (Brennan Family) was the owner of the award winning restaurant Commander's Palace (She recently died in 2018). Every woman should watch this documentary. It talks about her family's history, struggle as a female business owner, difficulties with her husband, strive for perfection (yet happiness), perseverance after Hurricane Katrina and how she has helped so many others. Do you know Commander's Palace was where renowned chefs Emeril Lagasse and the late Chef Paul Prudhomme got their start? You'll see their humble beginnings. Even the television show The Simpsons, featured Commander's Palace last year (one of many popular New Orleans restaurants). It's a gorgeous restaurant. I'll go back and feature it for you.

4. 7 Days Out: World's Biggest Events - This documentary chronicles six events, where they film what happens 7 days out to the time of the event. I only watched one. It was the Chanel Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week Show. This concept is not new, but gives you a wonderful appreciation of the detail, time, craftsmanship etc. that goes into fashion (and these shows). It's amazing and happens with such precision. There are so many talented people behind the scenes.

5. Solo: A Star Wars Story - I've been a Star Wars fan since I was a little girl. My mom took me to see The Empire's Strike Back and I was hooked. I've kept up with the Star Wars Saga ever since. Solo A Start Wars Story is the most recent series in the saga. I was always a fan of the character Han Solo and this movie explained so much. This movie explained his name. It explained his friendship with Chewbacca and how they met. Thandie Newton was in this movie! I love her! It also brings back Billy Dee Williams character Lando Calrissian. The Star Wars franchise is bringing Billy Dee back in the next Star Wars movie.
