REN Clean Skincare: Evercalm Anti-Redness Serum Review

Not Sponsored: As I review products I purchased from REN Clean Skincare, I want to mention that they offer an assortment of skincare BUNDLES at a great price on their website. But sometimes when you buy bundles, there are things that don't exactly fit your skincare needs. That brings me to today's review on their Anti-Redness Serum (Neiman Marcus, Sephora). It's part of their Evercalm Collection. I've tried products in their Evercalm Collection (Gentle Cleansing Milk, Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask) and LOVE THEM. REN describes this serum as a "protective serum for sensitized skin, designed to target visible signs of ageing caused by sensitivity and irritation. Reduce irritation and dryness with this calming facial serum. Developed to replenish and hydrate skin, soothing skin and visibly improving tone to help sensitized skin look younger for longer." After using this serum, they state "Irritation is reduced, Redness reduces and Skin's natural flora is re-balanced." Now, let me give you my opinion! Before reading ANY of the above, I just thought if your skin turned red/irritated it would make it go away! I don't get red unless my eyebrows are tweezed or if I brush against an outside plant. So I tweezed my eyebrows to test this, applied the serum and saw no results. The redness went away eventually, but not because of this serum. So, if you experience redness and want it to go away immediately, I wouldn't invest in this product. After reading the description for this product, this serum seems to work more like a BARRIER in preventing FUTURE redness, outside pollutants, and irritation. You apply it BEFORE your moisturizer! Does it hydrate? It feels very hydrating to the skin when first applied, but then it dries down quickly (just like most serums). You don't feel or see anything on your skin after applying. Your skin feels like skin. The "HOT" skincare products now are ANTI-POLLUTANT skincare products. That's what this serum seems more like. To me, it's like an invisible barrier for the skin. The term "anti-redness" made me think this product was just for that type of skincare problem. I don't know. I guess if something is barely there, you HOPE its working.
