Bobbi Brown Makeup Melter & Cleanser Review

Not Sponsored: It's really important to remove makeup from your face and cleanse your face (this process is known as double-cleansing). Usually this is done with TWO separate products. So when I saw Bobbi Brown's Makeup Melter & Cleanser (Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Macys, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Sephora, QVC), the product immediately caught my eye. Remove makeup and cleanse effectively at the same time? Hmmm. Let me try it! This product is in liquid form. Great for at home, but not so great if you travel. Putting that aside, the packaging for this product is great. I love the black & frosted design of the bottle. You can easily see the product. It comes with a sturdy pump and the product dispenses easily. So how does the product work? You shake the bottle to evenly distribute the product. It dispenses as a foam and then you apply it to your face. The foam felt rich & creamy. I did detect some fragrance, which I don't particularly care for in skincare products. It contains cranberry, blueberry and goji berry extract. This makeup melter did a great job removing my foundation, blush and lipstick. However, it struggled to remove mascara, eyeliner and some eye shadow. It also didn't help that some got in my eyes (and it stung). How are you suppose to remove your eye makeup effectively (that's why I prefer cleansing balms), if this causes your eyes to sting? If you wear "light" makeup, this product should work for you. If not, you will most likely have to use something else or something in addition to this (which defeats the entire purpose). As a cleanser, this did not work for me. I had to stop using it after a week, because I was getting some redness underneath my eyes (flush). So I didn't pursue using it anymore. So if you have dry, sensitive and/or reactive skin like me I would find something else to use. I've tried many makeup removers and my favorites are still Clinique's Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm (Saks, ULTA, QVC, HSN, Bloomingdales, Sephora, Nordstrom, Selfridges, Harrods)(reviewed here); Drunk Elephant's Slaai Makeup Melting Butter Cleanser (Sephora, Space NK)(reviewed here); and IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Makeup 3-in-1 Makeup Melting Cleansing Balm (Selfridges, HSN, QVC)(reviewed here). The reviews aren't that great for this product on her website. I always read them after I've tested the product myself to see how others felt. For the hefty price tag, you can buy so much better. Bobbi Brown has some really awesome skincare products, but this one is not. To read all of my Bobbi Brown reviews, click here.
