Gwen Stefani For OPI: Rock Starlets Mini Sets Review

Hey Baby! Hey Baby! Heyyy! I LOVE Gwen Stefani. When OPI first announced the collaboration, I squealed with excitement. I couldn't wait to see the colors she came up with. I knew one would be pink! She loves pink. I like Gwen, because she's a class act and she's never afraid to do her own thing. That's called being original. That's why I respect her. She doesn't disappoint with her OPI collection! It's light, dark, punk, unique and FUN. Here's my review...

This past weekend, I stopped by my local ULTA to purchase and see the collection. There are 7 (seven) nail lacquers and they cost $9 each (see last picture in this post). I purchased the mini set ($12.95). When a lot of colors are involved, I always go with the minis. They allow you to sample the collection, without breaking your bank account. There are 4 (four) colors in the mini collection! They are "Hey Baby", "I Sing In Color", "Love.Angel.Music.Baby" and "4 In The Morning".

Gwen Stefani For OPI: Hey Baby

I think I'm going to purchase the FULL SIZE bottle of 'Hey Baby' (pictured left). This is a gorgeous pink! It's different! It has a LOT of purple in it and I love purple.

If you're tired of ballet or pastel pinks (like moi), you should definitely get this shade. This is pink with pizzazz. This is pink with kick. It's a spicy pink. It's definitely a different shade of pink, than what you're use to. Gwen Stefani got this right.

I applied two coats (see my nails below) Application was easy. No bubbly. No streaky. I can't account for durability, because I swatched all of the colors in just one day (just a little excited). HaHaHa I'm your unconventional beauty blogger ;)

Gwen Stefani For OPI: I Sing In Color
You guys might be shocked at this, but with my hue, I always look better in really dark colors (reds, berries etc) than pastels. I LOVE this color! What's this color? I usually read about a collection, before purchasing. Well, not this time. All I heard, was Gwen Stefani + OPI and ran straight to the store! HaHaHa So this color puzzled me, when I looked at it. Is it burgundy? NO! Is it black? NO! OPI describes it as blackberry. It's a deeeeeeeeeeeeeep shade you guys! When you remove it, you'll see purple. When applied, it reminds ME of a hot fudge sundae topping (almost brown). Two coats were applied below. Smooth application.

Gwen Stefani For OPI: Love. Angel. Music. Baby.
If I Was A Rich Girl! Nah na na na na na na na na...I'm NOT ;) HaHaHa I was hoping one of the nail lacquers would've been called Rich Girl! I'm still waiting on Tom Ford to reply to my suggestion of a 'Broke Bitch' nail lacquer color (he already has 'Bitter Bitch') HaHaHa ;) Anyway, 'Love. Angel. Music. Baby.' is matte gold. Very pretty. Very soft. Very shimmery. It will look pretty on your fingers and toes. It's a soft gold with shimmer. One coat is shown on my nails. Application was simple.

Gwen Stefani For OPI: 4 In The Morning
OPI describes this as a satin black. To me it looks like a really, really, REALLY dark grey when applied & dried. I'm not complaining. This color is going to go great with my dark grey apparel. I don't have anything like this in my nail collection. Three coats are shown below. Application for this shade was a little tricky. It goes on thin, believe it or not (BELIEVE ME). For coverage, I used 3 coats. Give a little extra time to dry.

Below are the SEVEN (7) colors in the collection
and their finishes!

The RED (Over & Over A-Gwen) comes in a box with swarovski crystals (see picture to your left). I forgot to price it. If you want to get your bling on, then it's definitely for you. It seems like a really pretty red.

I'm not big on glitter, but 'In True Stefani Fashion' is BIG TIME silver glitter (too much for me). I can't tell you about 'Push and Shove'. All I know is that it's silver. Reviews on this collection are popping up. So Google them.

Props to Gwen Stefani, for giving us something unique. I get tired of the same nail colors over and over. So this collection was truly refreshing.Gwen ROCKS!

  19. Mini sets are the way to go, after all we love options and how often do we actually finish a bottle of polish? I love the colours although dark polish looks scary on me, think Adams Family. I'd use the pink the most I think. Great review Kim. sparkle2day.com

  20. This sounds like a good mini set! I got the Mariah Carey ones as a gift for Christmas and was kind of disappointed in the color variety! One color was a glitter and the other 3 were all very dark. I do like their size, though! Perfect for traveling!!

  23. I love the idea of mini sets because then you know what color you really love. The pink is my fave but I do think the berries and dark shades look really pretty on you - they usually make me look really pale. Lol at the Tom Ford comment and the matte black looks cool for a change. Also - nice job with all the nail polish changes. That's one of my least favorite parts of fashion blogging - always having to paint my nails lol. :)

  62. I've increasingly been drawn to OPI mini sets because I rarely wear polish more than a few times and the smaller bottles mean I can experiment with more shades without having to spend on the full size. Out of the four here I think my favourite is Hey Baby :)
