Deborah Lippmann Marshmallow Whipped Hand & Cuticle Scrub Review

Let's talk hands & nails this week on A Very Sweet Blog! The beginning of this year, celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann came out with a hand scrub called Marshmallow $29. The name alone had me hooked and I knew I had to purchase it. I've never used a scrub specifically for hands. Have you? I just use my favorite scrub, Soap & Glory's The Breakfast Scrub all over my body (including my hands). Marshmallow is a whipped hand & cuticle scrub. Let me stop right here. It smells like coconut & marshmallow. It has a beautiful pearlescent/opalescent color. It's fluffy & light like marshmallow creme you would find in a jar. Now don't worry, it's NOT STICKY like marshmallow. A little goes a long way! I've tried it on both dry & wet hands. I prefer it on dry hands. When mixed with water (on wet hands) it reduces it's effectiveness. There are also small granules in this, which help with exfoliation. After applying, rubbing it in and rinsing, my hands felt very smooth & soft. My hands even had a glow. I also found that each time I used it, my hands got better & better. Marshmallow moisturizes, but I find its only temporary. It's more of an exfoliate. Marshmallow is brand new and what I think would compliment it (and what I feel is missing), would be a Marshmallow Hand Cream (Deborah, make a hand cream!!!). This needs to be a duo! Exfoliate and then apply a hand cream that would moisturize. I love the marshmallow scent of this product and a hand cream would be the icing on the cake. The packaging is very luxurious. The outer packaging is a square jar, and housed within is a circular pot which holds the product. You get a lot of product, and a little of this goes a long way. This scrub also boasts AHA and BHA fruit & plant acids, Perlite (volcanic ash - lift dead skin cells & clear pores), Marshmallow Root Extract (calming & soothing) and Glycerin/Coconut Oil (moisturizing). Do you NEED this? My answer is (and I should've done this more when I was younger), under your eyes...your hands....your feet...and your neck need products that target those areas. Those areas show aging and require a little more than your everyday lotions & body scrubs. This product is really good, but I haven't tried any other hand scrubs. So I have nothing to compare to Marshmallow. Love the scrub, but I feel it needs a companion (a moisturizer/hand cream to compliment it) for everything to be in sync.

  1. I had a hand scrub once, but I rarely used it. The effect was good, but I have a hard time even rememberibg hand cream, let alone a hand scrub. Something I really should work on.

  2. I recently tried a Deborah Lippmann polish for the first time, but I didn't know she made other products and now I'm so intrigued - I'm a life long fan on all things marshmallow, so this sounds amazing to me. Although I totally agree that a hand cream companion needs to be released!

  4. This sounds fantastic. I used a scrub at one time after going to an Arbonne party. It was actually a foot scrub that was marketed for the hands too and it felt amazing! I loved the soft skin that followed but I never continued with it. Hands are something many of us ladies forget to care for in terms of anti aging. I notice my hands looking older these days and need to start caring for them better!

  5. I don't believe I've ever tried a hand scrub before, this one sounds lovely though, and I do agree that hands need more attention than we think, a hand cream definitely isn't enough!

  7. It sounds like a great product! :) You've made me remember that somewhere I have a 3 step kit for hands that has a scrub as one of the items, I am having a few skin problems at the moment and I wonder if that scrub might help. I'm going to have to look it out (and make sure it hasn't expired as it's been a while, haha!)

Hope you are having a great start to the week!

  8. This scrubs sounds like such a treat to use Kim! I want to try it just based on your description of the texture. I make my own hand scrub with sugar, coconut oil and essential oils but this would be a step up since it has fruit acid action. Thanks for the intro babe!

  18. This scrub sounds so scrumptious, haha, that's the first word that came to my mind while reading your thoughts! I love marshmallows and so, I of course love the smell of them! The consistency seems very different than your typical scrub, which I find pretty cool. I've never used a scrub specifically for hands before either, just for body and I apply it to my hands like you do. I think it's a great suggestion to make an accompanying cream for more hydration, Kim! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it, I'll have to keep an eye out. I hope you're having a wonderful week so far, beauty!

  20. I always learn something when I'm over here :)
My hands go through some of the most brutal treatment (constantly washing and cleaning and wiping - ah the life of a doggy sitter). I have basically given up on hand care but reading about smooth hands makes me want to care again..! :)

  22. Marshmallow sounds like a product name you would like:). To answer the question, no I have never used a hand scrub. I usually use a face scrub to scrub my hands. I figure that it makes sense. I also use coffee...because I have to wash coffee cups a few times a day anyway so I figure it is a good time for a peeling as any. Here we don't really drink instant, we prepare coffee in traditional style...I'm digressing, ain't it?:)

It is great to know that this product worked well for you. I like the packaging....It is great that it comes together with a hand cream...it is like a nice hand care kit, isn't it?....anything that contains coconut oil sounds good to me...and how cool that it actually contains marshmallow root extract ( I had no idea that was a thing!).

  25. I've never tried a hand scrub either! It sounds lovely though, also for the luminescent effect it leaves on your skin. A matching moisturiser is definitely a must-have! Baci, Valeria - Coco et La vie en rose FASHION & BEAUTY
