Deborah Lippmann Bed Of Roses Review and Swatches

MAUVE. Besides peach, mauve is one of the hot colors in makeup for SPRING! Can you believe it? You use to not see these kind of colors until Autumn/Fall. Whenever I use to hear the word mauve, I would automatically think...oh, that's an old person's color! HaHaHa Not anymore! I'm finding mauve color selections to be very complimentary not only to my skin tone, but to all skin tones. They're soft, appealing and very wearable. I reviewed Deborah Lippmann's Marshmallow hand scrub and another new collection of hers is Bed of Roses ($36) I was instantly smitten with the shades when I first saw them on social media. This set contains six (6) bottles of nail lacquer that range from a nude pink creme to a deep plum rose. I usually do full nail swatches, but since the colors were very close in color (to the eye), I decided to do single nail swatches to show you the differences in color. Each is different. I personally loved all of them. I haven't purchased nail lacquer in awhile (have you seen any nail polish reviews on here??? LOL), but I thought these would be a great addition to my collection. Plus these colors are so soft, I can definitely see myself wearing them during the Spring and even Summer months. Deborah Lippann's nail color is a little thicker than other brands, so you definitely want to allow a little more time drying time in between coats. But the color payoff and durability of her nail lacquers are really good. I also love the small bottle. I don't paint my nails as often anymore, so I don't use whole bottles of nail polish (which end up getting thrown away). So I like her small design.

I bet this song by ABC was the inspiration for the name of the nail lacquer above.

She's an 80's music fan like me. I loved this group.

  1. These are all beautiful polishes! Definitely my types of colors, just like how I like my lip and cheek colors lol! They are all super pretty Kim, thanks for sharing these! I've heard great things about her polishes!

  2. These nail polishes are beautiful! I really like these subtle tones, I think they're very flattering. Soft pink tones are always such a feminine choice, aren't they? Besides the classical red manicure, soft pinks make for my favourite nail looks.

  3. These shades are beautiful, Kim! I love ALL.OF.THEM. I also don't buy a lot of nail polishes, but I'll try to check these ones out for sure. I only have one sample of her lacquer and I do like her formulation. Thanks for the heads up:)
And OMG! I haven't heard that song in ages! Talk about blast from the past:D

  5. Ooh lay lady lay is my favourite! :)

I was out shopping for the breakfast at Tiffany polish collection for a friend (as I couldn't afford real Tiffany's I said I hoped the polish was close enough, ha!) with my mum. She saw how much I admired the huge box of the collection so she spoiled me and got me it for Christmas - I love that it's lots of little ones as I rarely use up a whole big bottle as well, although I think I do my nails fairly often.

I like these shades, especially 'Coming Up Roses', I don't have anything like that but it's such a nice colour.

Hope you are having a wonderful week!

  6. When I think of mauve, I always think of move lavender or lilac-y shades, so I was really expecting not to be a fan of this collection, but to me, these are much more in the nude or taupe family, which I love - and which are so universally complimentary! I love all the shades on your Kim and I'm so interested in trying them myself.

  7. Mauve has quickly become one of my favorite colors, it is so easy to wear to the office. On my nails, but more so on my lips, polished, but not in your face. Great to learn that I am totally on trend with that.

  8. These shades are so gorgeous. I read somewhere years ago that everyone can pull off mauve. Since then, I have always had a mauve shade of lipstick handy. A perfect color for everyday wear!

  11. Kim, I must be an old lady because mauve and I go way back LOL I've always found it to be such a feminine and easy to wear color. This set is lovely and the colors are perfect for spring and summer. I like the size too since I never seem to finish any of my nail polishes.

  12. Haha, I used to associate the shade with old ladies, too! After all, nearly everyone's grandma wears this shade on their nails, but who's to say it's not chic?! Lol! That said, I'll have to check out DL's polishes, I've never tried them before, but I'm pleased to know they have a great lasting power! Thanks for sharing, beauty, and I hope you have a great weekend ahead!

  15. I have tried a couple of DL nail polish before but wasn't impressed by the pigmentation. I'm not sure if it's due to the shades that I got but I need 3 layers to get opacity. This set looks really pretty though and maybe these will perform better for me.

  16. Never tried the brand I am attracted to these shades as they can almost go by unnoticed... which is what I like when my nails are really short ;) My fave is Touch me, Tease me.

  19. Ohhh these are definitely my kind of nail polishes! Nude shades are so flattering to the fingers/hands and I love seeing more of them spring up (no pun intended haha) at this time of year :) The smaller sizes of these bottles are ideal too and especially if you have the whole set.

  27. I love these shades! I got my nails done a few weeks ago with these same colors, with an addition of taupe. They look great together and singularly too! Plus, I like thicker lacquers because they are usually more gentle on our nails. Super duper sweet!
