Tarte Tarteist Makeup By Shayla Contour Palette Review and Swatches

Tarte came out with a contour palette the beginning of this year. I purchased and never opened it. Mid-year, they collaborated with YouTuber Makeup by Shayla on a contour palette designed specifically for darker skin tones. Initially when I saw it, I thought it was going to be too dark for me. But let me tell you! All the Caucasian girls on Tarte's snapchat started using it and the shades rocked on them!!! Then I saw GlamTrashMakeup (I think she's spanish) do a tutorial using it and it rocked on her. So I sold my original palette and purchased this one. You get a beautiful soft champagne gold highlighter (it SHINES), a pretty peachy-pink blush that warms the cheeks, a yellow corrector for under the eyes, two contour shades and a shimmering bronzing powder. I contoured (using the lighter brown) around my face and my nose (all the way to my eyebrows). I applied the blush to my cheeks. I highlighted the bridge of my nose, under my eyebrows, and atop the blush. I used the yellow correcting powder under my eyes and it really brightened that area. I don't know if some of you have heard of banana powder (Ben Nye), but this is what it's similar to. You apply and then dust off! I've never tried this before, but I like the effect. I think I used a little too much, because I was a little more yellow under my eyes then I wanted to be (but I'm learning). I didn't use the darkest contour shade, because it would be too dark for me, but I noticed Shayla did say these could be used as eyeshadows. So I may try that. And I didn't use the shimmering bronzing powder. It's so gorgeous though! But I thought I was glowing enough. SO SORRY for the dark pictures! I applied my makeup. Got on Snapchat! Then I looked up and it was dark & stormy! We're suppose to have bad weather here until the weekend. Never good for picture taking. But you can kind of see the colors and wonderful glow this palette gave me. I'm so glad I purchased it! On my lips ... I stuck with Tarte ... I'm wearing Tarte's SASS lipstick+gloss lip sculptor. When I saw these pictures, I immediately thought of Bobbi Browns Sandy Nude Collection I purchased last year. Although similar, I think this is richer. I've never watched one Shayla video HaHaHa but she did a really good job with this palette. It's limited edition, but still available at Ulta, Sephora and Tarte. I have one more product from Tarte to review (their new blushes).

  12. I actually don't buy contour palettes. I prefer buying them my contour, blush, and highlighter separately but this one looks so nice that I'm tempted to try it out! Hope you're having an amazing week. Stay pretty! :)

  19. Love your photos Kim, and actually think this is a lovely palette. I've not mastered contouring, but I do use Ben Nye's banana powder, and I also bought Sacha Costmetics powder which is very similar to it. P.S. Hope you're okay wherever you are, I heard about some flooding in Louisiana and thought of you. x/Madison
