Letter To A Bridesmaid

Being a bridesmaid means one has to look amazing on the day of the wedding whilst complementing the bride and her outstanding gown. On the big day, the focus has to be on the lady who’s all dressed in white, that’s for sure. Therefore, the ones standing next to her at the altar should look amazing without overshadowing the bride. From the start, the color palette helps make that difference because she’ll be wearing white, which is the symbol of purity and innocence. No one else should be able to compete with her when it comes to color choices.

Bridesmaiddresses should be chosen so that they create harmony with the bridal gown, instead of contrast and differences. For example, if the bride decides on a dress which reminds people of retro times, then it would probably best to look for outfits with similar tones for the accompanying ladies. The bridal gown comes first and bridesmaid dress comes second. That’s an unwritten rule, which has to be respected.

Deciding on the style of the dress, the length, shape and color might be tricky. However, when knowing exactly what you’re looking for, this could be like child play. A vintage themed wedding will imply appearances with characteristic elements such as floor length, classy materials and accessories and elegant color palettes.  In this case, the bridesmaids might wear dresses which are reminiscent of Audry Hepburn’s style.  Knee length gowns can be an option because they might match more styles and body shapes as opposed to floor length outfits which require slim and slender figures.  Depending on the season when the event takes places, dresses with or without sleeves prove to be just as beautiful and flattering provided that all options are explored before making a decision.
Fever Designs London is one of the brands which offer solutions and ideas to suit everyone's styles and preferences. Even if you might not find it straight away, we all have to start somewhere right? Remember to enjoy the process and believe that the gown is out there, waiting to be found.

  9. What a lovely selection of dresses... although I must say, I am so glad that I don't have to go through the torture of bridemaid dress shopping for my own wedding ever again. It's not much better for someone else's wedding, come to think of it ;) If I had it to do over, I think I would elope! Ha ha, I'm only half-kidding. My girls all did look beautiful when they did finally have their dresses :)

  30. Love these dresses, I actually own the blue and white one! I'm not sure I agree with the advice, though - as a bride I wanted my matrons of honor to look and feel their best. I wasn't a bit worried that they could 'outshine' me in any way.

  31. I've never been a bridesmaid but I was recently asked to be one. I don't have any details of anything since she is still in planning mode but I'm anxious to see what parts of the process will be like what I hear vs. what I truly experience! =) I didn't have a traditional wedding experience so I hope my ladies didn't feel "stereotyped" =)

  39. Pretty options here. When I got married, I picked out a certain line and color, and let my bridesmaids each pick out a dress that the felt suited them.

  40. As a wedding planner, I was so happy to see these selections. why? They look like dresses I or any bridesmaid could wear at anytime! I wish more brides would consider these options when asking their friends to plunk down $200 plus on a dress, which many can never wear again. Great post for sure.
