Anna Sui 'Tempting Sweets' 2014 Holiday Sweets Collection (01) Review and Swatches

I've wanted to try Anna Sui makeup for awhile. She has the cutest packaging and have you seen her nail polishes? They come in the cutest bottles. Despite her cute packaging, two things always concerned me: QUALITY (her products are for ADULTS but look like play or little girls makeup) and COST (her products are expensive and not always easy to find). I threw caution to the wind, when she came out with her 2014 Tempting Sweets Holiday Collection. How can one (well, me) resist cupcake & gingerbread theme houses, candy trees, lollipops and doughnut packaging (especially this time of year)? I had to have it (plus I collect theme makeup, so that's a good excuse). This collection has an 01 (red theme) and 02 (pink theme) [BOTH are pictured in the very LAST picture]. I wear red pretty well, so I purchased Holiday Sweets Collection 01. You get 4 pots! Lip balm, lip color, eye shadow color and cheek color. Her lip products are very moisturizing! The lip color in this set is gorgeous when applied! Your lips will not have a red lipstick look, but more of a i-just-ate-a-candy-apple luscious red look (see my picture below). I wasn't crazy about her lip balm jelly. It's heavy and reminds me of vaseline. LOL I loved the cheek color in this set! It reminds me of rose water (tinted red or raspberry) beauty products. It gives your cheeks a flushed i'm-in-love-oh-i'm-blushing look (and it's buildable). The eyeshadow is fabulous. Super creamy, smooth and blendable. It looks like frosting. You get a milk chocolate and I would say vanilla latte color (not white and deeper than cream). There's shimmer and sparkle in both, which makes it perfect for the holidays. All 4 pots are encased in a small, super hard (won't dent with above average pressure) round, similar-to-a-hat-box (but fits in the palm of your hand) package. Topped with a hot pink bow (01) and surrounded by sweets, this is a really cute collection. I'm very pleased and impressed! The makeup comes off so NATURAL. The only quirk I have is that all the products have a synthetic scent, but the quality is superb. The first set of pictures were taken at Beau Rivage (click here). The only thing I tested that night was the chocolate cake & moscato HAHAHA, so I just took swatches at home (bottom pictures). I'm wearing NO primer, foundation or concealer in the picture. I wanted you to see how this makeup can give you a really nice natural look. Anna Sui is definitely a SPLURGE, excellent quality, but honestly everything here is dupable (except the packaging hahaha)! You can purchase this at beauty.com, asos ,amazon and ebay. Remember to use ebates to get cash back!

  24. I'm impressed to see such a good review, Kim. I haven't heard many good things about Anna Sui make-up, and I have to admit the little girl style packaging really turns me off quite a bit. Sounds like I need to get over that and give the brand a try for myself!
