Gerard Cosmetics Berry Smoothie, French Toast, Cherry Cordial, Double Shot and Underworld Lipstick Review and Swatches

Hey Guys! I haven't forgotten about you! I'll be catching up on your blog posts! I'm just trying to finish reviewing everything (this weekend) in my makeup stash before Christmas. It was a blog goal of mine for 2017 ;) I've had these Gerard Cosmetics lipsticks for awhile. You may remember my review of their lip glosses in January of 2016. Well I also had these, but never reviewed them. I put them away, because I found out the company made fun of a blogger in 2015. It left a really bad taste in my mouth. Within these past two years, there has been so much drama in the beauty industry (especially with brands: Too Faced, Benefit, Tarte, Jeffree Star, Kat Von D, Rihanna, Kardashians). It's been very ugly. I really try to stay partial in my reviews (and just evaluate the product), but know I definitely understand how many of you feel (because I feel the same way). Since I already purchased these (and plan on keeping them) I wanted you guys to know my thoughts. The lipsticks ($19) I tried (Berry Smoothie, French Toast and Cherry Cordial) are very good. I found them to be moisturizing. They have excellent pigmentation. They felt creamy on my lips. With Cherry Cordial, your lips have to be exfoliated! If they aren't, any dead skin will definitely show up. Also, those areas that are not exfoliated will appear to be a darker purple than the other areas of your lips. I also tried their Metal Matte ($20) liquid lipsticks in Double Shot and Underworld. I love metallic lipstick. They give so much dimension to color. I thought these were superb. All of these are still offered. Will I purchase more from Gerard Cosmetics? I haven't followed them on social media in two years. I do believe in forgiveness and will see what they're up to. But looking at their website, not much has changed. I attended a seminar at my professional job, where the speaker mentioned serving a delicious, juicy rib-eye steak atop a garbage can lid. It doesn't look as delicious! I find that to be true for people, companies & products! Someone or something can seem so beautiful, but have such an ugly character & disposition that it turns you off.

  1. Oh no! What a shame the company itself is so nasty, especially when you love the products! :(

I like that you are considering giving them a second chance - you are so kind Kim. I am not a beauty blogger so I don't know much about the dramas with brands, but if I have a bad experience with a company I tend to avoid it - and usually tell my friends about it too!

Hope you are having a great week! With all of the gifts bought and wrapped I'm enjoying a few quiet days until Christmas.

  2. That's really too bad that all these drama (all unnecessary, I think) occur in the industry....sigh....I've only really heard about Jeffree Star issues coz I don't follow a lot of companies on social media, but yea....cray cray!
Anyhoo, these shades do look fab on you, Kim!
Happy Friday, and advanced Merry Christmas:)

  3. Gerard Cosmetics really isn't on my radar, anyway. But with that said, there are so many beauty brands out there that I don't feel the need to support one that doesn't practise kindness. If you already have the products, of course, there's no reason not to use them. But I appreciate your honesty, Kim - now I know to stay away. Happy holidays!

  4. Sadly I have too many beauty brands on my ban list because of various infractions but y'know what it just narrows down my choice better in the end and I'd rather support brands that have good business practices. What that speaker said. is so true and definitely applies to both people and companies.

Happy holidays to you and your family Kim! Stay safe, stay warm and have lots of fun! xo

  6. Oh I know what you mean. i really want to try Fenty, but don't love Rihanna's attitude towards Asians well. The colors, especially Berry Smoothie, are lovely on you though!

  7. I don't think I can ever pull of metallic lipsticks but they look lovely on you, and so do the other colors! Such a shame when brands tarnish their image by doing or saying inappropriate things, it really makes their products less desirable :(

Wishing you and your family a very merry Christmas and happy new year!

  8. Jesus! How brutal! Why on earth would they have done that to begin with? I'm not familiar with that particular incident and honestly I'm not even familiar with this brand either. And I don't even care now hahaha. Honestly making fun of anyone these days has to be the most inane thing anyone can do. Its pointless and so hurtful. So why would you do it? Especially in this day and age, there is no excuse for ignorance.

Anyhoo Kim, I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a most exciting and prosperous 2018. Can't wait to see what you come up with next year.

  9. These are all so pretty!! they all look great on you, Kim! I especially love the berry smoothie color and the metal matte underworld! That’s too bad about the drama with this company, and all of the other makeup companies in general!
