The Simpsons In New Orleans: A Restaurant Guide

I haven't talked about The Simpsons, since I reviewed their MAC x Marge: The Simpsons Collection back in 2014. Well last Sunday (April 22nd), "they visited" New Orleans via FOX television. The episode is called, "Lisa Gets The Blues". You can view it HERE. The Simpson Family was flying to Gainesville, Florida and their flight was diverted to New Orleans, Louisiana. What's so funny is, I went to nursery school in Gainesville! My dad was from Florida. So I could relate. Below are some of the New Orleans restaurants & places they featured in the show. I made each restaurant clickable in this post. I thought it would make a great guide for anyone thinking about visiting New Orleans. New Orleans is known for great food and Homer literally tries almost everything. New Orleans can be very fun, but also realize there's been an uptick in crime (purse snatching, robbery and car jacking). I always like to keep things real. Carry little. Don't look like a tourist. Don't hang around. Go to your destination. Leave your destination. There's currently a lot of construction in the French Quarter area, so you might want to hold off visiting until next year. I think they did a fabulous job featuring all of these places and I love the illustrations. Have they ever showcased your city?

  1. Oh I love this Kim! I haven't been to New Orleans in years, but would love to return. I took a Cajun cooking class down there years ago as well and it was fun! There is such distinctive and delicious food there too. I remember you mentioned a Po boy place (not Johnny's here) and that would be a first stop since I love sandwiches!

  2. This a great idea for a post. New Orleans remains a popular destination. I would love to visit it some day, but I don't think I will be able travel to the states anytime soon...but I do enjoy travel and guide posts.....And who doesn't like The Simpsons? I didn't know they did a show on NY. Nice you included links to restaurants. Such a cute photo of you as a little girl! Great tips about safety as well. Crime rates have risen in Europe too, something to keep in mind should you decide to visit. I've read that the London is the city with the most homicide in the world, now it's even more dangerous than NY.

  3. What a fun idea for the show, and an even better idea to make a travel post out of it Kim! So clever! So cute seeing you when you were younger too!

I haven't watched the Simpsons in ages - it changed TV channels here, the channel that was allowed to air it, and so I haven't seen it in a while as they changed the time too. It is such a fun show though.

Hope you have had a wonderful weekend! We had a fun time at a kite festival on Sunday! :)

  4. I haven't watched The Simpsons for many years, although I really loved the earlier seasons. I find the show very gimmicky now, but sometimes the gimmicks can be fun and it looks like this visit to New Orleans was one that really worked. I can't believe how many real restaurants they had Homer eat at! This is such a fun guide Kim, thanks for sharing :)
