Vogue India: Deepika Padukone is Going Places

Deepika Padukone is on a roll and definitely going places this year! She was on the cover of Architectural Digest India (March-April 2012) and now she graces the June 2012 cover of Vogue India.

Vogue India did an exclusive interview with her regarding her healthy lifestyle and daily fitness mantra. I've included some of the quotes from her interview here. (source) It seems Vogue did a health initiative with all of their issues for each country.Very nice!

The photo shoot took place in Cape Town, South Africa. Fast cars, broken cars, dirt roads, motorbikes and car body & repair shops are the backdrops. Deepika definitely takes charge and makes one notice her and not so much the scenery behind her. That's a sign of a good model, even though she's labeled as an actress.

Vogue also produced a video outlining the different aspects of the photo shoot. I included it at the very end so that you can see these wonderful shots come to LIFE. I always love to see behind-the-scene footage. It's amazing the number of people involved.

Standing at 5ft9in and weighing 60 kilos, she confesses that she has never loved her body as much as she does today. “I am definitely looking my best now,” she says contentedly.

Deepika confesses, “While I believe that when you are in the glamour industry, you have to look your best, I also believe being skinny is not ‘hot and happening’. A really skinny person may not necessarily be fit. I endorse fitness, which combines a healthy lifestyle, diet and exercise.” She adds, “Fitness depends on fat per cent, not body weight. Lots of skinny people have a high fat percentage. That’s unhealthy, and one day they will expand.”

It becomes apparent just how much of her current success is a result of years of training and self-control instilled by her parents. “With Dad being an athlete, fitness was a part of growing up. Not just in food and exercise. They also ensured that we slept and woke up on time. These little habits formed the person I have become.”

Now a bona fide screen goddess, Deepika still relies on exercise and healthy eating to keep her desirable shape. A few years ago, Padukone also started practising yoga seriously. “What I like about Yasmin Karachiwala’s workout is that it is all free-hand, forcing you to use your core, your own body weight.” Furthermore the stunning beauty reveals her 10-steps guide to a better body in the June issue of Vogue India.

  2. She is stunning!! And I love her opinion on things too. Lots of skinny people aren't actually healthy and sometimes others actually put the work in to maintain a healthy body. I love that bathing suit she is wearing, although I'd need to get fit to keep from poking out of it, hahahaha!! Gorgeous editorial! :) Have a great weekend darling girl!

  4. Beautiful! She is very stunning, and I love how she is talking about being healthy rather than being a particular weight. People can worry too much about a number, it's the lifestyle that makes a difference not some numbers on a scale. IMHO anyway :)

  12. Her face is so strong and pretty--total beauty. I had to look up kilos to pounds and found out she is about 132 pounds, so that is definitely pretty healthy...much better than being 110 pounds at her height. Lovely!

  27. she used to badminton and always had a very athletic body..then she started with modelling..the thing is before this cover she went through some regime to lose further weight and look more toned to don a bikini..i respect that she did it the healthy way but i think she was quite fit and thin to wear a bikini(in an upcoming movie she has a lot of beach and party scenes)to begin with.
