Jo Malone London Sugar & Spice Collection

I learned about Jo Malone London years ago, from my aunt. She loves fragrance and would have the Neiman Marcus lady call her whenever something new or interesting would come along. Can you believe that? I never had it like that! HaHaHa Then she would buy the entire collection for whatever scent she chose. Un-frickin-believable! HaHaHa

I love beauty products, but I've never been big on fragrance. Back in my college & graduate school days, I couldn't fathom spending $100 on one bottle of cologne. Let alone a cologne with WHAT in it? Anise? Cassis? What is THAT? How much? You mean I don't even get lotion for that price? HaHaHa Yeah, my aunt would hide her head in shame! LOL Well anyway, many Jo Malone London scents smell really good. Jo Malone London was established in the UK in 1994. Estee Lauder acquired it in 1999. Jo Malone London has just released a NEW collection (that interests ME)! Food is involved! HaHaHa Hmmm, did my aunt write her? LOL

Jo Malone London's NEW limited edition collection is called Sugar & Spice. It just hit stores you guys. It's available online at Jo Malone London and I would call your higher-end department stores to make sure they have it. It's "a collection of fragrances created for moments of delicious pleasure.Decadently tempting" Oooh Weee! I'm all ears! HaHaHa Jo Malone's marketing team get's an A+ for that line.

The Sugar & Spice Collection consists of: Lemon Tart, Redcurrant & Cream, Elderflower & Gooseberry, Ginger Buiscuit, and Bitter Orange & Chocolate. Each is $60 for a 30mL bottle. I'm trying to decide which one I want. I really should sample them, but we don't have a Neiman Marcus where I live and Saks Fifth Avenue is downtown. Are you still there? I was thinking out loud. HaHaHa

Below are the descriptions for each:

Lemon Tart - The mouth-watering tang of lemon tart. Sparkling with citrus fruits and verbena, contrasted with swirls of meringue and lemon thyme. Refreshing.

Redcurrant & Cream - A summer pudding. Sharp-scarlet juices of redcurrants, lush strawberries and raspberries, rippling through creamy musk. Vivacious and enticing.

Elderflower & Gooseberry - A voluptuous gooseberry fool. Crushed, summer-green gooseberries, juicy with lychee, enfolded into the soft delicacy of elderflower. Tender and feminine.

Ginger Biscuit - Just-baked biscuit. Spiced with ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon, melting into caramel. Butter-crumbly with roasted hazelnuts. Warmed by tonka bean and vanilla. Irresistible.

Bitter Orange & Chocolate - The bite of bitter orange, layered with dark chocolate. Orange peel counterpoised with warm, powdery cocoa, milky coconut and coumarin.  Sumptuous and addictive.

If these cologne's are as good as the pictured desserts, I'm in trouble. HaHaHa Has anyone tried these and what do you think of Jo Malone? If you like or have any particular scents let me know in my comments section below. If you don't like something, let me know too. HaHaHa There's no room for error cost wise.

Somebody please tell me what a GOOSEBERRY is? They look like peeled grapes! How do they taste? Don't worry I won't lick the cologne. HaHaHa

I think I'm leaning towards Lemon Tart or Ginger Biscuit. If you're not into foodie perfumes, she has a plethora of others in floral, citrus, fruity, woodsy and spicy lines. There's definitely something for everyone!

Below is a cute video the company released.

  7. I tried them all. I will be going back for the Bitter Orange & Chocolate and Redcurrant & Cream. I wanted to love the Lemon but it was too soft. The Ginger Biscuit was really nice, but I picked up too much ginger and not enough of the rest of the scent. The Elderflower and Gooseberry was also very soft and pretty.

  12. I loved the fragrance they released around Christmas, it was so beautiful and I am sure these will be just as lovely.
Frankly, I never actually saw gooberries in British shops, but they are one of my most favourite berries. We had a few bushes in Russia where they are very common. They can be green or have a purple tint and come in two sizes. The large ones are the same size as grapes and the smaller ones are slitly bigger than blueberries. They taste beautiful, a bit like kiwi and you can either eat them as is or turn into jam (which you'd call jelly in the States)
They do have to be in season and ripe to taste great - when they are picked early, the skin is very hard and they taste really sour - not that this ever stopped me from eating them when I was a kid. :) :) :)

  13. I swear it's sometimes torture when I swing by here, all that sugary sweet goodness...sigh. I love JO Malone aromas... i'm still an originals kinda girl though. I will occasionally splash out on the lime basil one... an old fave.

  15. I'm not a huge fan of perfume either. I rarely wear it! Most perfumes I find are too strong and they just give me a headache. The ginger biscuit sounds good though...who wouldn't want to smell like a cookie? :)

  16. I used to work across the street from a Jo Malone shop and loved going in there to take in all the lovely scents. This collection sounds delicious! I don't think I'd mind smelling like dessert as long as it's not overwhelming which I know her scents aren't. Looking forward to seeing what you end up choosing Kim! Your aunt sounds so cool! Coolness must run in your family :)

  17. Jo Malone scents are beautiful and I like their simple but lovely packaging. Now, how to explain a gooseberry - I know what they are and they taste amazing in a tart, but how the hell do I explain it?!?!?! ;-)

  18. I really like Jo Malone! =) This campaign is also calling my name too! Unlike you, I was obsessed with scents when I was a teenager. It was almost an obsession. But when I started to move around a lot during college and in my early 20s, my obsession decreased because I kept misplacing them! haha...

  23. Hey Kim, did you enjoy your birthday yesterday? I'm a huge fan of Jo Malone. I have tried their body creams and fragrances. My favorite scents are grapefruit and lime basil. These new ones look so tempting. I'll definitely check it out. Also, I think gooseberries are the fancy berries they garnished on the desserts at fine dining restaurants. I'm not sure but if they are, they're very sweet. Have a great week!

  36. How fitting that you posted this today because less than an hour ago I was venting to my mother about Jo Malone and this collection! I was very excited about the new collection as I got an invitation in the mail to an event at a local restaurant celebrating the new launch with desserts that matched the flavor. I have shopped at the Jo Malone store before and assumed they were just trying to drum up some business with a nice event. So I called to make a reservation and they wanted a $25 deposit guaranteeing a purchase. This would have been fine if the invitation had mentioned it! I was really excited but I felt hoodwinked and will definitely not be going now!

  40. I have an aunt just like the aunt you described in the post so that part made me smile :) I've never been big on fragrance either but I love essential oils. The collection sounds amazing...like a tasty treat for our senses. Gooseberries do look like grapes a bit but they can be very bitter or very sour (depending on the variety). You might find it in some asian markets. :)

  41. I love Jo Malone candles and these new fragrances look perfect for summer. In the warmer months I prefer lighter, floral or citrus scents and the Elderflower and Gooseberry sounds perfect. Gooseberries are quite sour but with plenty of sugar they are amazing in a pie. What a cute, fun video. Great post, Kim. Have a good weekend.

  42. Oh my goodness... I'm in love! I actually worked as a fragrance sales girl when I was in university and while it did give me an appreciation for scents, it also gave me horrible allergies, so I've rarely worn a fragrance since. The ones I can usually manage are fruit- or food-scented, plus that's really what I love, anyway ;) There is a Jo Malone store not far from me and now I know where I'll be going on my afternoon walk!

  49. Kim I feel like you read my mind. I am on a HUGE Jo Malone kick and I LOVE LOVE their stuff! Years ago I worked for MAC which is also an estee lauder company and got a massive discount at jo malone which was my neighboring store! Currently I only have one jo malone perfume (because the scents are so good I used up the others!) I own wild bluebell and it smells simply amazing! fresh and floral but not TOO floral. Just clean and light. I also ADORE their candles. My favorite candle is the fig! I also love red roses. I'm really interested in smelling these new fragrances, especially the elderflower and gooseberry! Have you heard of the liquor st germaine thats all over blogs? thats elderflower and gooseberries have a similar scent to me! Gosh I hope you pick some of these up, I think the sense of smell is so lovely
