Chanel Shopping Center: Chic & Couture Shopping

When Elle France featured Karl Lagerfeld grocery shopping, I should've known he would eventually have a supermarket theme for one of his collections. Well, that was definitely the case for his FW14/15 Collection. I think I was more smitten with the set than the collection. HaHaHa Chanel milk cartons, bottled water, and bright bottles of soda lit up my eyes. I loved the color of the fresh fruit that was displayed and given to the attendees. There was even a hardware section with Chanel chainsaws, gardening gloves and brooms. I didn't like the entire collection. I loved the sneakers, casual outfits that Cara D. wore (My midriff & hole days are over, but  I would wear the orange one below! HaHaHa), and many of the coats that were showcased. I really fell head over heels for the accessories. The lait de coco milk carton...YES, please! The bracelet cuffs are gorgeous and HELLO that Chanel sweet tart necklace and bracelet set...SWOON! Loved the Chanel gummi fashion treats that were given to the attendees and look at the cute mini Chanel shopping bags that were given out. It took a lot of time to have containers designed and set up for this. It wasn't a hard concept, so I wouldn't call it genius. Just meticulous and tedious. I have a love/hate for Karl L. You guys know that. There was a lot to dislike about this collection, but there was also a lot that was sweet. I concentrated on the sweet details below. I think it would've been sweeter, if a portion of each sale would go to fighting world hunger (since it's a food theme). If I was a designer, that's what I would do. There's too many people hungry everyday, for this sort of extravagance. Just my thoughts. Oh well! This is fashion. NOTE: The Coco Puffs box below was from an artist on Instagram (not part of the collection). <singing> Shimmy Shimmy Coco Puffs! I have that Digital Underground "Kiss You Back" song stuck in my head. HaHaHa I attached a video of the Chanel runway show below.

  3. I really do love this set, Kim! I think I like it more too than the collection...hehe. That would've been great if part of the proceeds would go to a charity for battling food hunger, but we all know it's all about profit....sigh...

  4. I was just looking at this set earlier. I love the attention to details. The Chanel flap packaged as meat was cute; i'll take two of that please, lol! I could get used to shopping at the Chanel supermarket any day :)

  6. Absolutely amazing! The collection looks fabulous (not that I could afford even a single piece), but the "supermarket" setup and all the details around it are just superb. The "product" labelling and having "Jardin de Gabrielle" on the tinned brussels sprouts is pure genius. xo

  8. Love that...so cool...It would be fab to have them all...I need to win the lottery, haha!! I like the theme and the idea...very clever!! It's good that they went down to the very last detail with everything, otherwise it wouldn't have worked, but I love it!! Happy Thursday doll, I hope you're getting some rest & feeling better....almost the weekend :D xx

  10. Hi Kim, Im totally agree with what you said. I was smitten so much by the set and the backgrund, the big effort in each little details and the theme, but not by the collections itself, except for some outerwear and the accessories. I want that Lait de Coco bag too, how cute! Regarding your last thoughts, well I also agree. Kisses dear, hope you are doing better xo

  12. Chanel sure managed to make everything look fancy, grocery shopping included. What a fun theme they came up with. Kind of unexpected to see from Chanel. My crazy phase for Chanel has died though (thank god..haha), I find myself falling out of love a few years ago. Their accessories are good looking but ridiculously overpriced for the type of materials they use.

  13. Who knew grocery shopping could be SO glam? I associate Chanel with elegance so it's a little weird for me that they're doing crop tops though.

  15. Very creative! I'd be happy to just have the Channel "products" as decor, instead of the clothes and jewelry!

  20. What a fascinating post, Kim. The attention to detail is extraordinary and there are so many clever and witty items particularly Choco Chanel and Jambon Cambon. Those tweed locks are so cute. I'm trying to imagine how long it must have taken to design and make it all, not to mention the cost!

  23. OMG Kim! I love that you found all these photos and you're so right about how much detail and sweet elements went into this. I can't imagine how much it must have cost and your idea to give some of the proceeds to fight hunger would have been so amazing if they did that. Too bad they didn't :(

Tweeting this post now! Loved it

  32. The Chanel Shopping Center is just the best and fun Fashion Show. Karl is a genius. The clothes and bags are amazing. The goodies are something to covet. But I read that the guests were not allowed to purchase to take those goodies away. Those goodies will be donated to charity.

  33. You knocked it out of the park Kim! I've seen so much online about this Chanel show but your roundup was the BEST. It has to be one of the most fun and reality based Chanel shows to date, I loved the concept. We can all relate to a little grocery shopping. Just wish my food market looked this Fab. LOL

Thank you for your sweet comment on my post dear and really hope you are feeling better. Sending you big hugs!

  35. I'm with you, I think I like the set more than the collection, it's so fun. I wonder how long it will be until we see those Chanel doormats floating around the internet for sale. I also, would have loved to see a portion of the sales donated to fight world hunger, that's a great idea.

  37. Hi Kim! Ah, this definitely looks like a show that would've been amazing to attend. I definitely think that their set design was a total standout and super unique. It's crazy to see all of the little details that went into each and every part of the set! I wonder if the Chanel shopping baskets will become a thing in their stores, haha.

Hope you have a lovely week! xo

  38. Dear Kim, you truly picked the best of this collection. What I love is that Karl (stuck-up snobbish genius) didn't incorporate the supermarket into Chanel (see Mosxhino and Hindmarch), but the other way round. Happy Friday sweetest thing

I agree with you in everything. K. Lager feld is not my cup of tea but he usually does nice things at Chanel, though not this time. I only liked the grey dress with the silver coat but then I saw the high sneakers and thought 'oh, no' hehehe
That's a wonderful idea of you, to donate profits of a food-theme collection to fight world poverty. You go, girl! The world sure need more people like you :)
