Star Wars Covergirl Limited Edition Makeup Collection Review

Friday, October 30, 2015

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! When I found out Covergirl was coming out with a Limited Edition Star Wars Makeup Collection #BeautyForce, I nearly flipped. When I found out there was going to be another Star Wars movie (The Force Awakens December 2015) that included the original cast, I double flipped. It brought back so many memories. I was a child of the 80's and LOVED Star Wars! But I never dressed up as my favorite female character...Princess Leia! So, I decided to dress as her THIS year! :) My first onscreen crush was Han Solo (Harrison Ford). I thought he was the dreamiest! He was even dreamier when he played Indiana Jones (what a manly man ... He's still crashing planes LOL). My other onscreen crush was Ozone aka Adolfo Quinones from the movie Breakin and my crazy loco crush was John Taylor of Duran Duran. But anyway ... LOL ... TMI ... Check out my thoughts on the collection (that came out about a month ago) below and take a trippy trip down memory lane.

supersweet(run & buy it) sweet(really good,buy it) bittersweet(ok, issues)not sweet(not good,don't buy this stuff)

COVERGIRL Star Wars Limited Edition Colorlicious Lipstick - Supersweet

This lipstick comes in 6 shades: Silver (10), Lilac (20), Red (30), Gold (40), Dark Purple (50), and Nude (70). I purchased 4: Red, Gold, Dark Purple and Nude (shown below). I LOVE THIS LIPSTICK! The colors are pretty! It's moisturizing and has a nice sheen! The wearing time is normal (a couple of hours), but it doesn't disappear (except for nude) after you eat or drink ... which is good.

COVERGIRL Star Wars Limited Edition Colorlicious Lipstick - Red (30)

It's a berry or wine red. Very rich! Very pretty!

"May The Force Be With You. Always." - Obi Wan Kenobi

COVERGIRL Star Wars Limited Edition Colorlicious Lipstick - Gold (40)

This has an orange hue! Yes, there's some gold mixed in but don't expect this to be a GOLD lipstick. It's very beautiful. Very frosty. I think it will be even better for Spring/Summer.

"I Love You...I Know" Princess Leia & Han Solo

COVERGIRL Star Wars Limited Edition Colorlicious Lipstick - Dark Purple (50)

When they say DARK PURPLE, you better believe it! LOL It's a TRUE PURPLE! Very vamp. Very dark. Very steampunk, heavy metal and punk rock! I LOVE IT!

"Why You Stuck Up, Half-Witted, Scruffy Looking,
Nerf Herder" Princess Leia

COVERGIRL Star Wars Limited Edition Colorlicious Lipstick - Nude (70)

I knew I would either LOVE or HATE this nude lipstick color. Well, I love it! It's almost like a dusty pink. I think it would look even more beautiful with a dark eye and bronzer.  I'll have to try it.

"Help Me Obi Wan Kenobi. You're My Only Hope."
Princess Leia

COVERGIRL Star Wars Limited Edition Outlast Nail Polish - Bittersweet

This nail polish is offered in 6 colors: Nuclear (97), Nemesis (195), Mutant (101), Fury (93), Red Revenge (180) and Speed Of Light (200). I only purchased 2: Nemesis and Red Revenge. BOTH colors are very pretty. Red Revenge is a true red. Nemesis is a deep dark purple, just like the lipstick above. There are several hiccups! ONE, Covergirl merely used the same color nail polish ALREADY in their collection. TWO, instead of special packaging they just SLAPPED a Star Wars Sticker on the bottle (HOW LAZY!). Special tops could've EASILY been inscribed! THREE, the formula requires some drying time (overall and in-between coats) or risk denting and smudging.

COVERGIRL Star Wars Limited Edition Super Sizer WATERPROOF Mascara (The Light Side) Bittersweet

This is Covergirl's Super Sizer Waterproof Mascara! I've never tried it before. Yes, it will lengthen your lashes to infinity, BUT also expect clumps with that length. I am NOT IMPRESSED! Thank God I only purchased these for packaging purposes. LOL There are 10 Light Side (with Star Wars, you're either on the Light or DARK side LOL) mascara's! ALL have different & famous quotes from all the Star Wars movies. This was definitely a smart marketing ploy, because if you ordered these online the company or store sent you ANY quote they felt like! I lucked up and got May The Force Be With You (but that one was plentiful). I had to resort to eBay to get Do or Do Not, There Is No Try! I went to several Walgreens and CVS and they never put the collection out! So these are the 4 quotes I have in my collection now. Luminous beings we are...hmmm ~ Yoda

COVERGIRL Star Wars Limited Edition Super Sizer Mascara (THE DARK SIDE) Not Sweet

The worse of the two mascaras is this one! CLUMPVILLE! LOL There are 10 mascaras for the Dark Side also, but I only wanted 2! You will meet your destiny! But not by wearing this mascara. LOL And Indeed you are powerful! But not by wearing this mascara. LOL

Where can you buy? Online at Walgreens (some items are limited or sold out), so you may have to resort to eBay :( Ok, here's my costume & short video!

Below was my Snapchat (starts at 0:03) about this post (sorry for the funky blogger video. i didn't want to put this short clip on YouTube). FOLLOW ME ON SNAPCHAT (averysweetblog) to see my daily happenings :)

Ooh all of the lipstick shades are lovely! It's too bad the nail polishes are ehh and the packaging is lazy. i'll admit i'm getting pumped up too. My husband had made me watch the trailer so many times. It should be fun!

Kim, this post is amazing - your Princess Leia costume and your videos quoting lines for Star Wars... You have knocked it out of the park this Halloween! I am admittedly not much of a Star Wars girl but my husband absolutely loves the movies and so I've had ample opportunity to watch them over the years. I won't be rushing out to buy this collection except for maybe the purple lip shade, because it looks so good on you! Happy Halloween!

This is so fun, Kim!! My brother looooves Star Wars so I grew up watching them as well. I didn't like it as much as he did but I guess knowing all the air craft names and such just came with the territory of having a brother make me play make believe Star Wars with him all the time :) I appreciate all that now and it's kinda cool to know the story and the details of it :) I just recently bought Piri a Deathstar toy from Petco! lol I am very much excited about the moving coming out in December and this make up has made me smile!! Happy weekend to you!

I love your costume Kim! And every single one of those lipsticks look gorgoues on you!! Too bad you didn't like the mascaras!! The super size is one of my favorites! This collection is so cool, I think the only thing I've seen around from it was the mascara though.

You look great as Princess Leia, Kim! And omg, my husband is a huge Star Wars fan and he actually said, I should get the CoverGirl lipsticks. LOL! Shame about the nail polish, I understand about trying to cash in on the huge Star Wars hype but at least out in some effort, that's just plain lazy!

We're looking forward to the movie end of this year, I hope it'll be good!

Can I just say you are BEYOND awesome Kim??? I love you dressed up at Princess Leia. Harrison Ford/Han Solo is still my crush, even if he is a little crazy recently. Haha. I love all the quotes you put in too!! I almost bought the mascara and now I am glad I didn't!

I love Star Wars...despite the fact that they're basically a rip off. They do take a lot of ideas from Dune (one of the best known sf novels) but I still like them a lot and I think they're such an iconic series- I wouldn't mind seeing them again...and the music! Best soundtrack ever!!!!!!!!!!

You look adorable as princess Leila ...this costume is wonderful. I loved all of your make up looks, but I must admit I wasn't too crazy about one lipstick...the nude (dusty pink) one, but it may just be that I'm not into light lipsticks.

Sorry to hear the nailpolishes were a disappointment, they were probably just trying to cash it that Star Wars theme, ha? not fair....just because we all love Star Wars doesn't mean they should think that anything will Star Wars logo is good enough to be sold.

You look so cute in that video and in that animated photo (those are called gifs, right?) where you deliver that famous Leila's adorable! Now, I know how you look when you get angry;) and I can't believe how cute it is.

That's a lot of flipping, Kim! Haha! You look too cute in those pictures. I love all the shades on you. HAPPY HALLOWEEN, love!

Hahah oh wow you got me at Clumpville! Too funny xD I searched so many stores for this collection and couldn't find it anywhere, I thought it would be a much larger release then it was since I only ever saw it online :( So unfortunate since that Gold lipstick is beautiful but I'm glad you got your hands on some of the products! Your Princess Leia costume is so spot on :)

Awesome! I loved Star Wars when I was younger and I think Has Solo was one of my first crushes also lol! The red looks stunning against your skin, it looks to be quite rich and pigmented. You make a beautiful Princess your side buns!

We would have been best friends in the 80s. I used to dress up a stuffed Chewy and an Ewok in my dolls clothes! John Taylor was the cutest Duran Duran member but I did crush on Simon Le Bon too. Those guy's posters were on my wall!

Great lip colors! It sounds like they were a score. Great costume too. :)

Lovely entertaining post, Kim! So fab you've made a video and I love your fun gifs as always. :) I'm not a fan of Star Wars and even didn't watch it properly back in the days. However agree with you on Harrison Ford - such a cool guy!!
Love all 4 lipsticks on you, Kim.

Cool costume! I'm also excited about the movie. I was so thrilled to hear that they'll be including the original cast. I saw the trailer on youtube, and I can't wait to see the movie :) Haha about Harrison Ford and still crashing planes, and he was my crush too, especially as Indiana Jones!
Glad to hear that at least the lipstick worked out. Thanks for the review. I was on the fence about what to get from the collection. I wanted something as a momento because I never thought they'll be able to bring back the original cast, so exciting.
