Anya Hindmarch Counter Culture Collection

If you're not British, you may learn something new today (I know I did)! If you're British, let me know your thoughts on the products below in my comments section :)! Shopping Carts! Scanners! Moving (Runway) Conveyor Belts and Que Lines! British Handbag Designer Anya Hindmarch never ceases to amaze me with her creativity & imagination. She brings everyday things to her designs and runway shows! Her AW2014 runway show made one feel like they were at a real store. I've always wanted to ride a conveyor belt... wheeeee! >.<. I adored her "Pomp and Pleasure" Collection. It was very Victorian and Marie Antoinette! I was a little disappointed in her SS14 planetary "Out of this World" collection & show. Maybe I'm a little biased, because the solar system has never excited me (except for maybe Star Wars...well Han Solo. LOL). However, I'm now back in her graces with her new AW2014 "Counter Culture Collection". Why? It's a foodie, happy, smiley face, household theme. This collection is not for everybody! Some people don't like fun mixed with fashion. Some people have said, Anya sold her soul with this collection. Not moi! I think she just likes to have FUN. I would happily walk down the street with that Tony The Tiger Tote and Frosties Clutch (in the US we call them Frosted Flakes) and I'm cuckoo over that little monkey Coco Pops clutch. She also did cleaning supplies and popular biscuits. I had to look up the names to those, because they're British brands and I'm not familiar with them! But HEY, I learned something new! Hope you do too! NOTE: I don't like all foodie designs! I didn't like the McDonald's themed Moschino collection.
Get Ready To Learn Something Today! Here We Go! Ready?
Tony The Tiger! Everybody knows him, right? He's the mascot for Kelloggs Frosted Flakes Cereal.
Ahhh, Did You Know This Rooster Had A Name? Cornelius The Rooster for Kellogg's Corn Flakes
In the United States and Canada, we call them Frosted Flakes.
In the UK, Commonwealth, European, Middle East and Spain they're called Frosties.
They're called Corn Frosty in Japan and Corn Frost in Korea.
In the United States we call these (below) Cocoa Krispies

They're called Choco Krispis in Mexico, The Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina.

Choco Krispies in Portugal, Spain, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Coco Pops in the United Kingdom, Denmark, Nigeria, Bulgaria, Ghana, Malta, New Zealand, Ireland, Finland, Italy, Greece, Sweden, Israel, Belgium, the Netherlands, South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Botswana, Hong Kong, Lebanon, Australia and Republic of Korea.

Choco Pops in France. Later in the 1960s, the name was changed to "Coco Krispies," but subsequently reverted to Coco Pops. In 1998, the cereal was briefly renamed again in the UK, this time to Choco Krispies. However, in 1999, after falling sales and a telephone poll in which the British public voted, its name reverted to Coco Pops. (source: wikipedia)
Ship Household. This is only one I couldn't find. Can someone tell me what it is? I think it's matches.
Swan Vesta (here and here) is a popular brand of "strike-anywhere" matches sold in the UK.
England's Glory is a brand of matches available in the United Kingdom.
What's Up Anya with all the matches? LOL I hope she's lighting candles and not ciggies. :P
DAZ is a popular laundry detergent sold in the United Kingdom and Ireland (here and here).
Ariel is a stain remover and laundry detergent.
Custard Cream (is a popular biscuit (in the US we call them cookies) in the British Isles.
Digestives Biscuits are a semi-sweet biscuit that originated in the United Kingdom.
Ginger Nuts are like ginger snap cookies (from what I read).
They're flavored with powdered ginger and a variety of spices, most commonly cinnamon and nutmeg.
Rich Tea is a sweet biscuit suitable for dunking in tea and coffee.
I wasn't aware there were sweet, semi-sweet etc. biscuits. I didn't know (hmmm, just like chocolate).
So interesting. I love learning about new things. :D

  1. Dear Kim, first of all I'm reading this post while having breakfast (none of the mentioned though!!). I must say that I love the pieces where a brand icon is displayed (Cornelius is my favourite), while I'm not fond of the purses where the whole box of cereals/cookies is reproduced. Anyway I enjoyed another of your multicultural posts, it's fun to know how popular things are named differently in different countries :-)

  6. This collection is so happy and witty. I can't imagine having one of these bags for myself (apart from the smilie purse/clutch) as they aren't very me, but for a woman who has everything, this would make a lovely present. :)

  7. These are so cool :)) I love custard creams, so I'll take that bag :))) Rich tea biscuits are nice as well, dip them in your tea, it's really nice. The digestive ones you can get plain or with chocolate on the top of them, which is how I love them of course, haha. There are so many kinds here really. I would definitely use these bags! Have a great day doll :)

  8. You find the coolest stuff, Kim! I LOVE these bags. I'm so over the luxury logos. Want more quirky totes and these hit the spot!

  9. Oh my gosh! This is the first time I've seen the collection. I did see a pic of the runway, but for some reason, never did see THE actual collection. These bags are just too amazing, and would actually be so super stoked to have all of them....when I win the lotto....

  10. I actually do like some of them, they're fun and colourful which is great for summer and would work well with a casual outfit. It's quite a British thing to design something that's not supposed (or at least I think it's not) to be taken completely seriously. I'm just not sure how much money I'd be prepared to part with for a little bit of fun like that - probably not as much as they would cost ;-) Have a lovely start to the week xo

  13. How utterly whimsical and cool! I remembered thinking how interesting it was to see the same cereals named differently for different markets. It is funny to see frosted flakes as frosties here!
    I hope you're having a good birthday weekend/week!

  15. While I do enjoy a level of whimsy this collection is a little kitschy for me. That being said-- loved the different terms for the cereals throughout the world!

  17. Kim, what a fun post and everything is so very familiar of course. We have all grown up with these images and tastes here in the UK. I'm not sure I would rush out to buy one of these bags but the rooster bag is cute and I learnt something today too. I didn't know that the rooster's name was Cornelius! This collection will certainly be a talking point and raise a smile. You are right too, Ship are household matches. Have a great week Kim.

  23. Hmmm... I'm not sure I would like walking around with a cereal brand tote or hand bag, but the idea is very creative.

  24. This post makes me want to eat cereal, Kim...haha. Those bags are cute and fun to look at but I am not sure I want to carry one around in real life.

  25. My thought on these are: corky and trendy. And this is not something I would be spending money on. They are for looks, purely editorial but then it's just me. :)

  26. VERY interesting, not sure how I would feel about wearing food logos on my bag, but I LOVE the rooster one, such a great graphic on it's own but looks awesome on this bag and with the big green tassel I would definitely consider this one for sure.

  41. What a fun collection! I would definitely carry one of the cereal totes, I think the vintage feel and the huge tassel makes them look like something fashionable, and not, say, an add for kellogs.

  45. Oh my gosh, Kim - I just saw this line about an hour ago and I immediately thought of you (not that you would neccessarily love it, but more so what your thoughts might be.) Personally, I fell head over heels, specifically with the cereal-themed pieces. I practically lived on cereal as a kid and I still love all of the mascots. If only there were a Toucan Sam handbag, it would have to be mine!
