Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara Review & Swatches

Tarte has a new mascara and it's called Tarteist Lash Paint. I definitely gave it the side-eye, because of the word PAINT. You PAINT fences! You PAINT walls! I PAINT...I mean polish my nails. But to PAINT your lashes? Sounds kind of heavy to me! Well, the consistency of this mascara is pretty black (jet black) & thick! However, the hard-bristled brush-wand it comes with is excellent for applying this mascara. It scoops out the mascara easily (just be careful with the excess on the tip) and when you apply it to your lashes ... it combs, coats & separates each lash. I applied 2-3 coats to my lashes below. I didn't experience any sticking or clumping. But if you go past 3 coats, expect some clumping on the tips of your lashes. Also, this mascara dries SUPER FAST! So do your 1-3 coats quickly or risk tugging with additional coats. The LENGTHENING effect this mascara gives your lashes is ah-mazing. I was like WOW...will my lashes reach my eyebrows? LOL They weren't lying, when they said it increases length by 2700%!!! Volume? Not so much. But you can see my before & after below. What I'm reviewing is NOT the full size! While placing my order at Sephora, they offered a sample deluxe size for 100pts. So this was a great way to try it. How does it compare to my current & favorite mascara (UD Perversion)? Tarteist Lash Paint is Sweet in my book, but Urban Decay's Perversion gives me a "cleaner" look. This is more EDGY, but I think that is what Tarte was going for! Between the cool splashes of paint on the packaging, super blackness of the mascara and spikier look ... it's very COACHELLA. It's a really good mascara, but you may have something similar in your makeup arsenal. If not, TODAY is the last day of Tarte's 30% Off Sale! Get it on sale or try and score a sample of it.

  1. When I used to work photoshoots and backstage at fashion shows, some makeup artists would literally painstakingly "paint" the individual lashes on the models which created a very uniquely defined lash look that made their eyes pop and this mascara reminded me of just that. I hadn't even heard of this product but I totally want to try it now. Thanks Kim!

  5. I like to try out things first before committing to the full-size, so this was an excellent idea getting the sample size. I've not tried this mascara, but it makes sense with the painting effect. I will pass on this as my lashes are naturally crazily long. Thanks for reviewing and sharing. Happy weekend, Kim.

  8. A good mascara is so hard to find - but then again, I think I want my mascara to basically give me the same results as false eyelashes, ha ha! I still haven't found my dream mascara, but this one does look lovely on you :)

  9. I know, I don't like the word paint either. I almost bought it when I purchased the blush palette, but I figured I'd wait...man, I should have. Glad this is working for you!

  10. I remember us liking a few same mascaras, Kim so I'm going to pick this up. I think if it works for your lashes then maybe, just a maybe it'll work for my pathetic lashes too.

  12. Paint does seem like an odd word, but if if definitely works (and it looks like it does!) then I can get past the name :)

  16. I hear ya on the name Paint. It evokes all sorts of images that doesn't include eyelashes, lol! Although, after seeing your before and after photos, it's caught my attention in a good way!

  17. Wow!! The difference is huge, in my Donald Trump voice. This is definittely for me. I don't wear fake eyelashes. Any mascara that can add extra length is good for me.

  20. This is the first review I've seen on this mascara! Your lashes look nice, Kim! I'll have to try this out. It sounds like something I'd like! It may not be a must have, but still worth trying I think!0

  21. I know what you mean about the word 'paint' Kim! It definitely sounds too heavy like you said for lashes, although when you describe how it works it's more like normal mascara. I'm so particular with mascara that I will take your advice and maybe try to score a sample with my Sephora points that I've saved up for years. :)

Hope you had a great weekend,

  25. Very interesting concept for a mascara! I wonder if they called it 'Paint' because of the quick drying time?! Nonetheless, it looks great and I can definitely see the difference in length after applying it! Thanks for sharing, beauty, and I hope you're having a great start to your week so far!
