Maybelline Dream BB Cream, Bouncy Blush and 14 Hour Lipstick Product Review: Sweet or Not

Maybe She's Born With It!
Maybe It's Maybelline!

I kept singing that jingle as I was shampooing & conditioning my hair and trying on my new Maybelline makeup. HaHaHa

BB Cream! BB Cream! BB Cream! It's all the rage now. Almost every beauty blogger is talking about it.

Throughout my life I've always used foundation, so I was really intrigued by this product. I had to try it! The one that was most talked about was Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB Cream. So I bought it. I was also interested in Maybelline's Bouncy Blush and 14 Hour Lipstick. I saw both in a couple of  fashion magazines, so I picked those up as well.

So here's my Maybelline Sweet or Not Product Review of the above items.
Sweet - Bittersweet - Not Sweet

{the end result #4 may LOOK good, but trust me it didn't FEEL good...see my explanation below}

Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB Cream
Sweet
Pros: Maybelline boasts that it does EIGHT things: 1. Blurs Imperfections 2. Enhances 3. Brightens 4. Adjusts to skin tone 5. Smoothes 6. Hydrates 7. SPF 30 protects 8. 0% oils and other heavy ingredients. It does all 8!!! I was impressed by this makeup.
Cons: Please note that it BLURS imperfections and does not COVER them! If you have any imperfections you will need to use a concealer. I used Benefit's Boi-ing concealer and finishing powder since I already had it at my disposal from last week's review.

Maybelline's Dream Bouncy Blush
Not Sweet
Pros: Cute packaging, but that's about it.
Cons: Maybelline needs to go back to the drawing board with this blush. I'm all for futuristic, but this blush smooshes like silly putty and doesn't blend into your makeup. It just sits there like chalk on a chalk board. I threw mine away after this review (oh YES I did!) and will not buy anymore. Save your money!

Maybelline's 14 Hour Lipstick
Not Sweet
Pros: Cute packaging, but that's about it.
Cons: This lipstick doesn't feel good at all. It's dry, heavy, sticky and chalky. I can see why it stays on 14 hours, because it literally feels like glue. DO NOT buy this stuff you guys! Also the color is LOUD! Look at that color on my lips. It's awful! Hated it!

My Final Word: I am very disappointed in Maybelline. I don't know if they're under new management or what, but I've used their products before and they were never like this. The quality is horrible, except for the BB Cream. Their Marketing Team is superb! It was the advertisements that sent me running to the store to buy it. I don't seem to be the only one displeased. Have you guys heard of Makeup Alley? I found the site the other day and they let Maybelline HAVE IT! hahaha Maybelline call me! I will CLEAN HOUSE! I will fire somebody or a group of someone's in a minute. You're losing your credibility! You're too big of a company and established for this!

I say SO about a zillion times on here! HaHaHa

See, I really was shampooing and conditioning my hair! It's finally growing!
Had a horrible hairdresser that nearly took all of my hair. But I'm still SMILING through it all!

  1. I'm sorry to hear the products weren't good (except for the bb cream) - I used to have their products when I was younger, but have changed to bit more expensive brands since. And when reading your review, I think that's a good decision. I hope you'll have a lovely weekend! xoxo ♥

  2. I've found this product was okay once upon a time for eye products like mascara, eyeliner, etc. but I never liked their skin line. In fact I don't use it anymore

  3. Great reviews, Kim. Other than maybe mascara or pencil eyeliners, I haven't really used maybelline in years. Was curious about these Bb creams, tho!

You know, I actually like those dry types of lipsticks, haha! Ok, not dry, but matte....because I hate when my hair gets stuck on my lips! Even tho the lipstick felt pasty, did it make your lips dry?

  4. so sorry the products didn't work out!! i think the color is pretty on u though. i haven't really tried maybelline stuff other than mascaras a looong time ago. they really do hv excellent advertising lol

  5. Kim, you are the best, I'll never stop saying this!! Thank you for the review: I was curious about the BB cream and I'm happy to know about it. Though I'm a little concerned because I've been using Maybelline's mascaras for a couple of months and my eyes often itch and sting. Still it might be a coincidence. A big hug my friend!

  6. I just bought the BB Cream too and though I've only used it once, I was pleasantly surprised. Those others sound horrible though and I definitely won't be trying them. By the way, I actually like that color on you :)

  7. You look amazing as always Kim! Shame about the blush and lipstick! Good review on the BB cream though, will have to look out for it when it arrives here. We still only have 1 main BB cream, a new one was JUST released so I need to try pick that up....so sad it takes so long to get good stuff here!

  8. You got me interested in that bb cream Kim, just look at a lovely glow on your face. Even that lipstick is dry as hell, the color looks great on you. A lovely shade for your skintone. Your reviews are always helpful and informative.

I picked up a Maybelline mascara (Falsie something), works great, glad i didnt buy any lipsticks.

  9. I use the Garnier BB Cream so now I'm curious how it compares to the Maybelline one. The only other Maybelline product I use is their Great Lash Mascara...that really stinks that the other products were so awful. Have a great weekend, Kim!

  10. Sorry to hear you are disappointed. Usually, they take the best products off the shelve. Don't know why.
Maybe its to save money in :)production.

  13. You didn't like the blush!? Realy?! I actually really like mine! but I wonder if that's cause I don't wear any makeup under it, no foundations or BB creams - maybe it doesnt blend in that sort of combo!?

  14. I'm sorry about your hair dresses woes. People messing with my hair really freaks me out.

Anyway, so glad to hear you liked the BB Cream. I was actually at Target the other day and almost picked it up, but of course, they didn't have it in my shade. Sorry to hear about the other makeup--sounds very cakey.

  15. Haha...love your "Sweet" and "Not Sweet" rating system! Maybelline hasn't impressed me for a while now but I am glad to see that the BB cream got your stamp of approval! Oh and I'm on MUA too. It's such a great resource. :D

  16. Oh now I'm intrigued to try BB cream. I always have a bit of a problem with Mabelline mostly because of their ingredients and although many makeup artists rave about the mascara as being the best, I like a longer brush so have switched to Laura Mercier permanently (at least for now..haha). Your skin looks great with the BB foundation so I am probably going to snag some next time I'm at the store :) Have a great weekend Kim!

  22. Oooh Kim you do look ravishing in that lippy, totally stunning. I'm impressed with the coverage the BB cream gave you and the completed look after you'd applied powder etc.
It's a shame when a great makeup brand goes does the sink in terms of quality. I have only ever really used their mascara's.

Hope you're having a wonderful and ravishing weeked! Lady you're born with it! ;)

  25. My friend just raved about Maybelline BB cream although she said the same thing about the lack of coverage. I may need to pick some up today :D Sorry to hear about the blush/lipstick fiasco, cakey blush seems to be a thing now, I just threw one out myself!

  26. You dislike the Bouncy Blush too?! I dislike it as well. I bought 2 The States when I visit my sister in SF and I returned it. It is so sheer like as if I did not put on any blusher. Might as well not put it on and just pinch my cheeks. So I returned it. Not happy.

  27. I've always thought of Maybelline as a good brand as well! Even tho I prefer Asian bb creams, but I mostly like them for their mascaras!

I'm sorry to hear you had to be dissapointed in most of the products you bought! I hate when that happens to me! .___. Well I guess we should always read the reviews before purchasing anything!

  33. So sorry to hear you were disappointed!! I've been wondering if the BB Cream was any good and maybe I'll try it out. I use their mousse foundation and I really like it but other than that I stick to Revlon products.
