Coola Mineral Liplux SPF30 Lip Balm In Firecracker Review & Swatches

Sponsored: What is the SPF of your favorite lip balm? Don't laugh, but I had to check mine (Fresh tinted lip treatments have an SPF of 15). Sunscreen is so important, but we often forget to protect our lips. Well, the brand COOLA has been on my beauty radar since the beginning of this year. It's a company out of San Diego, California (est 2007) that specializes in natural & organic sun care products. The founder Chris Birchby went to grad school for art, but BOTH of his parents developed melanoma (cancer of the skin). They caught it early and fully recovered, but he decided to take a different path and reevaluate his bad sun care practices. He created COOLA (see the video HERE). COOLA Mineral Liplux have a Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 30 Protection, they're water resistant (40 minutes), they have 70% + Certified Organic Ingredients, they nourish with Cupuacu Butter and Mongongo Oil, Cruelty Free and available in 6 natural sheer shades. I love the one that was sent to me (Firecracker). It gives me a great wash of color, the highest sun protection for lips I've ever owned and is moisturizing. I was interested in Fresh's Sugar Sport Treatment, which has an SPF of 30, but it doesn't come in any tinted shades :( I will still get it, but sometimes you want a little color for your lips. The only thing that stopped Coola from getting a Supersweet rating was that it wasn't AS moisturizing as Fresh, but it did still provide a great deal of moisture. I will definitely purchase Coola in other shades. Really interested in Bonfire and Tan Line :) Thanks for letting me try these Coola :)

  4. I think my lip balm has SPF 30, but now I'm going to have to check! It is strange how we are so conscious of sincere on our faces, but somehow forget that our lips are a part of that - thanks for the reminder, Kim!

  5. I also use the Fresh tinted lip treatment and I fortify if with another SPF lip balm. This sounds like a much easier way to get SPF 30 protection. Thanks for the review Kim! The Bonfire shade totally looks up my alley :)

  7. I love that this product has 30 spf. When I'm going to be in the sun for a long period of time I always use a lip balm with protection. This is a pretty shade!

  8. I've never heard of this brand before, but I love the story behind it. I feel that when there's a personal connection behind the drive and heart of the business, you get better quality and service from the brand. I've intently searched for lip balms or a tinted gloss with SPF, but it's so hard to find in drug stores! I was at one point using L'Oreal's Colur Riche Balm, which had an SPF of 15, but then they discontinued it, which is a shame because I really loved it! Anyway, I'll have to keep an eye out for this one! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you're having a great start to your week so far!

  9. This is a beautiful shade Kim! It reminds me of my benetint a little! I love how there is natural and organic ingredients in this. And you're so right that it's important to protect our lips with spf too!

  10. It is a lovely colour Kim! :)

SPF is so important everywhere, especially on the face and lips! My lip balm only has SPF 15, but I make sure to wear it when I'll be in the sun a lot as although it's not the SPF 20 of my daily BB cream, it's better than nothing :)

  16. This is the first time I'm reading about this brand, Kim but I love that soft wash of colour. I have used Blistex which has SPF30 but it is sooooo dry on my lips so I ended up going back to Carmex which only have SPF15. Thank you for the introduction to COOLA, I'll check them out.
