Ariana Grande Sweet Like Candy Review

Wednesday, December 14, 2016

Sponsored: I walked into ULTA several months ago, and they had an assortment of perfumes on a table. Ariana Grande's Sweet Like Candy perfume was one of them. For kicks and giggles (and of course the sweet name), I said let me try this. I spritzed it on my wrist and it smelled good. I didn't purchase it, because I wanted to see how it would react with my body chemistry. Sometimes scents change on me. Well I forgot to see how it smelled after a couple of hours and that was that. Fast forward to now, and a PR company sent me a bottle. I'm a lucky girl. I've had a lot of misses with celebrity fragrances, but this one proved really good. It's soft. Nothing jarring or offensive. It's wearable & pleasant (so important to me). It's very fruity at first! I definitely pick up pear & blackberry notes. By the time it dries down, you smell vanilla & marshmallow. All the scents are pleasant through the entire process. I like it! It's young. It's fresh. It's fun. I encourage you to try it the next time you're in a store. I think you'll be surprised. I love the box it comes in! It's befitting of the name. The pink bottle it comes in reminds me of two things! A Willy Wonka everlasting gobstopper or hand grenade (pull the pom pom and get ready to explode...with fruit of course). HaHaHa Ok, I'm being silly. What do you think of the packaging? What do you see? Have you tried this fragrance? Have you tried her other fragrance ARI?

Fragrance Notes:
Top (Sweet Addiction) - Sparkling blackberry, Italian bergamot, pear
Heart (Delightfully Dangerous) - Jasmine sambac, frangipani, dewy honeysuckle
Drydown (Sexy Wink) - Crème de cassis, marshmallow, cashmere woods, sexy vanilla

Sweet-Bittersweet-NotSweet
supersweet(run & buy it) sweet(really good,buy it) bittersweet(ok, issues)not sweet(not good,don't buy this stuff)

It sounds like the kind of scent I'd like, I'll check it out next time I'm in store! A very fun bottle design so it will be easy to find on the shelf, haha!

Sorry I haven't been round to your blog much but thank you for your sweet words on my latest post :) Hopefully we will be home by Christmas!

Fragrances can really be so hit or miss so I always wait to see how they sit on me before I make any purchases. It's good to hear this one worked out for you Kim. I would expect the scent to be sweet just based on that fun and feminine looking bottle.

It dries down to a vanilla/marshmallow scent? I have a HUGE affinity for marshmallows.... I think I would eat all the time if I bought this. I think the bottle is really cute though!

I should take a whiff of it soon, it sounds like a decent scent. But I'm really picky with perfumes, most end up giving me a headache. Love the little pom pom!

Fragrances are so tough because they are so individual. When I was in university, I worked at a department store fragrance counter for two years and I learned so much. My body chemistry doesn't react well with citrus scents like bergamot - I wind up smelling like lemon pledge - so a lot of scents don't work for me that smell great on other people, and it sounds like this would probably one of them. Based on your description though, I would definitely consider it as a gift for one of my younger cousins.

I've never really been into celebrity perfumes, except J.LO's live (I believe that's what it's called). I picked it up on a whim at Marshalls years ago and LOVED it, but got distracted with trying other scents that I've never repurchased. I've never smelt this one before or her other because I don't know, I guess I have a stereotype with celebrity perfumes, it seems like they all have one and so I just avoid them. But, since you say this one smells good, I'll give it a try the next time I'm at ULTA. I think the packaging is cute and it does remind me of a hand grenade! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you're having a great week so far!

XO,

Jalisa

I haven't tried this but I saw it the other day and was curious! It was at target but they didn't have testers. I'm glad to know that it's good! I love fruity scents but I also love vinallas too so I think I'd love how this one wears!

I admire Ariana Grande. She is very talented. I haven't tried this perfume but the packaging is very nice and classy. Would try it when I see it here,

yeah, I have to remember to let a fragrance sit for a while to let it mix with my chemistry. Glad it worked for you! Sweeter scents tend to not do so well with me, but maybe I'll go into ULTA and test it ;)

So nice that this perfume works well for you! Sometimes celebrity perfumes can be a bit of a disappointment, but it always depends on our personal taste I guess. After all, all perfumes are designed by teams of experts not by celebs themselves, so they are usually of a good quality. However, with celebrity perfumes something it is hard to know what to expect...with known perfume brands you kind of know what they offer and they seem to have a signature style...but it one way this actually makes celebrity perfumes more interesting because you don't know what you might expect...and they can be a nice surprise- like in your case:). I'm not a perfume gal, having just one or two is usually enough for me, but I'm open to buying celebrity perfumes...who knows? I might even try out this one. The packaging is adorable.

Kim, TBH, I've always like celeb fragrances even though I don't buy them:D The Britney Spears, JLO, Justin Bieber ones....they actually smell nice IMO. Good to know this Ariane Grande one is a win:) DD loves her!

Love the packaging Kim ! It reminds me of V&R Flower bomb.
I have to agree that the moment I hear its a celebrity fragrance I am automatically thinking that its going to be sweet, stuffy and not going to like it.
