Laura Geller Peach Glow & Gilded Honey Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator Review & Swatches

Last year, Laura Geller came out with three Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminators: Ballerina, Charming Pink and Gilded Honey. Gilded Honey was a huge hit with beauty lovers, because of it's pretty swirl design and lovely gold color. Illuminators are exactly what their name suggests! They're used to brighten, illuminate and give your face an overall glow. You may have also heard of Highlighters! Highlighters target certain areas of your face, such as your nose, cheeks, cupids bow, chin etc. Overall, I find Highlighters to be more pigmented than Illuminators. But don't despair, almost everyone uses them the same way. HaHaHa Since Gilded Gold was such a hit last year, Laura Geller created a new one this year. It's called Peach Glow (as shown in my Sunday Snapchat Stories Blog Post). Below are my thoughts on each and overall thoughts.

 Sweet-Bittersweet-NotSweet
supersweet(run & buy it) sweet(really good,buy it) bittersweet(ok, issues)not sweet(not good,don't buy this stuff)
Laura Geller Peach Glow & Gilded Honey Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminators are Sweet

FYI: I want to point out some things that initially surprised me! These Illuminators are HARD! They're not creamy (as they look). This is not a problem, because they give your face a dusting of color when applied to the face. These are pigmented, but when applied to the face the color is very light.

Peach Glow

Peach Glow is Laura Geller's newest creation. I was happy that she created a PEACHY shade, because Ballerina is too soft a pink for me.  But this is a VERY soft peach (leaning more towards pink) HaHaHa At first, I thought this would look too icy for my skin tone. But when I used my Too Faced Foundation (Warm Beige), Bobbi Brown Bronzer, Too Faced Love Flush Blush in Baby Love and Jouer's Papaye Lipstick it looked pretty. It really surprised me. It gives a soft look, that's perfect for Summer.

Gilded Honey

I purchased Gilded Honey last year from QVC. I purchased it from there, because for $2 more it came with a brush. After using the brush (it's nice), but really not necessary! A small brush in your makeup arsenal will suffice or even using your finger (remember this Illuminator is hard). Gilded gold has been described among beauty bloggers & YouTubers as the perfect gold. It's not too light. It's not too powerful. It's very soft. It's SAFE to use all over your face. It illuminates your entire face, giving your skin a healthy glow. I have the same base makeup as shown above, but Jouer's Pamplemousse Lipstick. I'll be testing some other gold highlighters & illuminators, so stay tuned. I purchased many last year, but had to pack them up because my house was being renovated. You can see my current collection of highlighters HERE. But the closest to this (in my collection) is The Balm Mary Lou Manizer and Benefit's Sunbeam.

My Final Thoughts

These are great! I like the fact that they are pretty-much mistake proof. They go on light and it would take A LOT to over do it. I really packed it on for these pictures and as you can see, my face still looks soft (and not overdone). These are safe for everyday looks. These are great for anyone, not into heavy Highlighting or Illuminating. Great for beginners. I didn't show it here, but if you want to highlight your collar bone, they're perfect for that. Why just the Sweet rating? Price & Quantity. These cost $26 each and they're pretty small in size. But you don't need much product! This may not be very cost effective for someone. I just think they cost a tad bit too much. But they perform beautifully. Now, MANY companies are making Illuminators/Highlighters. So it just depends on what you're looking for.

  2. Seems like no harm can be done with this - which is great !
Because I always fear of looking over done. I do agree with the price being a bit high, at 22.00 it may be more realistic.

  6. I do love the look of these on you, Kim, but I admit that when it comes to beauty products, highlighters and illuminators are among the things I understand the least. I feel like my blush and bronzer combination gives me enough glow and adding anything else just wouldn't have much point. But that's probably just me ;)

  8. I'm not at all gifted or knowledgable in the beauty or makeup area, so I really had no idea what the difference was between illuminators and highlighters, haha! Glad that they can be used interchangeably, but if I want more of an impactful glow to stick with highlighters. I love the packaging, too, the swirl is so pretty and I love both the colors you've shown here, the finishes are so pretty! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you have a great weekend ahead!

  9. Both of these are very beautiful, Kim! The gold one is stunning but I love the look of the peach one! I haven't seen or owned a highlight like that. I wouldn't mind that these are smaller, because I'd never finish it up lol!

  16. You're the only one that I've seen who mentioned the point about them being small in quantity and size so the price is a little too much. Thank you for such a great, thorough and honest review, Kim. This is why I love you and your blog so much. You already know I have my eyes on these, just wish they weren't so dang pricey to ship to Canada.

  19. Why do good things have to be expensive and tiny? I like how it looks and also swirl shape makes it look different than other products, however the price...

  24. I have just now gotten where I will wear highlighter frequently, so I'm interested in all of the highlighters and illuminators. I really like how gilded honey isn't too powerful, as you put it. It's a safe choice for trying a golden highlight.
