Clarins Limited Edition Sunkissed Summer Collection Review & Swatches

Every Summer there are always a couple of makeup collections that catch my eye. Last year for me, it was Dolce & Gabbana's Summer In Italy Collection, NARS Undercover Summer Collection and Mally's Shimmer Shape & Glow Collection. As soon as I saw the Clarins 2017 Limited Edition Sunkissed Summer Makeup Collection, I knew I had to have it. I loved the colors. I loved the packaging and overall thought it was perfect for Summer. It's a nice edition to my collection. Below are my thoughts.

Sweet-Bittersweet-NotSweet
supersweet(run & buy it) sweet(really good,buy it) bittersweet(ok, issues)not sweet(not good,don't buy this stuff)

Clarins Limited Edition Bronzing & Blush Compact ($40) - Sweet

This is my first Clarins purchase and one thing I noticed is their makeup is very soft. There's nothing bold or jarring about it. It's great for everyday. This bronzing & blush compact is divided into four. You have a variation of 3 bronzing shades and 1 blush. I swatched each individually below. The bronzer is very pretty. I simply swirled all three together and applied it to various areas of my face. The blush is gorgeous. It's a peachy orange that truly brightens the face. I just wish there was more of the blush. But I will say it's pigmented, so you do not need a lot. You'll see my full look at the very end. I love the packaging. It's a beautiful orange & brown compact with an array of flowers and leaves. It's about the size of 2 small compacts, so it fills up your hand. Gorgeous large mirror, which makes application a breeze when on the go.

Clarins Limited Edition 4 Colour Eyeshadow Palette ($43) - Sweet

Golds, Browns and Oranges. Usually you don't see these shades until Fall. I was wondering how this would work for Summer, but it does. The reason I think they work, is that the colors are very soft in hue. Plus they have the slightest shimmer to them. All applied and blended really well on my eyes. There are two suggested looks below. I used the second one for the look below.

Clarins Limited Edition Waterproof Eye Pencil in Copper (07) and Gold (06) ($26.50) - Supersweet

Metallic Eye Pencils in Copper and Gold. I thought these were so pretty. There is a pencil end and the opposite end has a sponge where you can smudge these out if you want. They're waterproof as well. It's a great way to add a bit of sparkle to the corners of the eyes or used an eyeliner. Love the colors.

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in Juicy Mandarin (14) ($26) - Supersweet

Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil in Honey Glam (07) ($26) - Bittersweet

I love love love love their Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in Juicy Mandarin! When I first swatched it, I was like ummmm it might be too dark and too orange, but it truly isn't. Look at my lips below. It's truly a wearable orange. It also does a great job moisturizing the lips. I also tried their new Lip Oil in Honey Glam. I love the applicator. The oil is thick but not sticky like honey. So it applies great. It feels great to the lips as well. My only problem is that your lips don't stay or feel moisturized after the oil goes away. I haven't had much luck with lip oils. I feel the same way about these as I did the Lancome Juicy Shakers I reviewed. I was watching Christina Zilber of Jouer Cosmetics Snapchat one night and she mentioned that oils do not moisturize the skin. Lips are skin. I'll post what she showed on her snapchat below. What are your thoughts on oils? This has me re-thinking about different products that are out there on the market. It kind of makes sense. Like with the Drunk Elephant products, you apply everything (serum, moisturizers) and the last step is the facial oil that seals everything.

*This collection as of today was still available, but remember its Limited Edition. Overall, I'm very impressed with the quality of Clarins makeup. It is very expensive, so choose products wisely.

  1. That bronzer looks so pretty! I think at first I`d be scared to use it just so I don`t ruin the nice pattern.

  2. The thing with oils is, I guess, that they do prevent your lips from loosing moisture when applied. If your lips are already dry, they will not really help much to cure that. Prevention rather than cure, I guess.

  3. It's interesting- the oils really help my lips. And my lips are always dry. It's not like they don't get dry again, but it's improved texture a lot. What I loved from this collection was the eyepencils - worked really well on me for the summer :)

  4. I'm so surprised by how soft these shades are on you compared to how they look in the packages and when swatched - but I love them so much more when I see them on you, Kim! This is by far one of my favourite collections that you've worn recently, you look so naturally radiant and perfectly summery. I've used very few Clarins products but you definitely have me rethinking that now ;)

  5. Love the colours included in the quad, I'm getting excited about Autumn already! Those copper eyeliners look amazing too so I'm glad they were supersweet. I think I'll be picking up something like that in time for Autumn.

  6. The eyeshadow palette looks lovely, and I want to try the lip oil. I need to make it a point to check out the Clarins section when I go to the store. I don't usually check their section. http://www.mrsqbeauty.com

  7. These products are beautiful and look great on you! I have never heard of lip oil. I have tried oils as moisturizers (particularly coconut) but they just don't work for me. However my husband loves coconut oil for his skin and lips and it works for him!

  12. It's been awhile since I've played with Clarins makeup but in my recollection, their shades have always been on the soft side which can be nice if you're looking for something that you can easily wear all the time. I don't remember their packaging being so pretty though. These products/shades look perfect for summer Kim! I always treat oils as occlusives to seal everything in so it makes sense to use them last.

  13. This is a beautiful collection, and everything looks so great on you Kim! That blush/Bronzer is so pretty! I love the shadows and those liners are super pretty too. And you're right that the lip color is a super wearable orange! And it definitely makes since to leave oils for last! I use to use coconut oil every night for my Moisturizer. I guess since my skin is already oily it worked fine, but I can see how it wouldn't necessarily hydrate the skin!

  16. The two products that really caught my eyes were the bronzer/blusher and the eyeshadow quad. I wasn't sure if the pigmentation will show up on me but now that I've seen them on you, they are beautiful! Soft and natural but gorgeous!

  20. I love the look of all of these products - especially the lip oil - I wouldn't normally gravitate towards these hues, but they are subtly nice.

  21. Oh my gosh! I never knew how to use oil this entire time! This makes all the sense in the world to put it on last to keep in the nutrients. Thanks for sharing! Xo, Ellese

  22. What a beautiful summer look Kim! The only thing I bought from Clarins is their stretch mark cream and sadly, it didn't work. Lol. How's your summer so far? I just came back from Europe so I have a lot of catching up to do. Ttyl

  23. Clarins products that I have bought usually deliver ;)
If i had a choice here I'd go for the bronzer and these tones look so good on you Kim. Then again, there is not a color that does not.

  24. First off, the packaging is really pretty! I also love the fact that these colors could easily transition for a fall makeup look, too, so the colors aren't limiting. I've never tried lip oils before, but my lips soak up cocnunt oil almost instantly, so I don't think they'd work well on me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, girl; I had no idea Clarins made makeup!
