Biossance Squalane + Omega Repair Cream Review

Not Sponsored: Sephora had a lot of deluxe sample products that I was interested in, so I used some of my points to purchase them. I'll be reviewing these products for you, both this week and next week. Let me start with Biossance.

Biossance has been on my beauty radar for awhile. They're owned by a biotechnology company called Amyris. They're a science and technology led company. They believe in clean chemistry and a commitment to a sustainable planet. So all of this translates (without getting too technical) to clean beauty and health. Well, I'm all for that! That's always good.

One thing that is consistent on all Biossance skincare packaging is the word SQUALANE. To give you a short biology and chemistry lesson, "The human body produces its own version of squalane called squalene, but the amount made and retained decreases as you get older." "Biossance found a way to produce squalane as safely and effectively as the body does. Our squalane comes from 100% plant-based, renewable sugarcane, then bio-fermented to create a beautiful end result—highly stable, totally sustainable and eco-friendly squalane. Squalane is the skin’s best moisturizer that is suitable for all skin types." I can't stress enough, this is why it is so important to hydrate and moisturize your skin.

I thought what better way to test this hydration theory out, then to try Biossance's Squalane + Omega Repair Cream (Harrods, Selfridges). I have super dry skin, so I was interested in seeing how it worked. This face cream has a dreamy and creamy white texture. It's fluffy as a cloud (and may I add lightweight). The scent is medical. When I applied it to my skin, it felt really good. You can feel it going into your skin. The cream feels nourishing to the skin. Your skin feels instantly hydrated. You can use this moisturizer both day and night. It won't conflict with your makeup and honestly provides a nice layer of moisture before makeup application. When I used it overnight, my skin felt hydrated and also soft by morning. My skin really loved this face cream. So what's the magic in this jar? Sugarcane Derived Squalane, which deeply nourishes dry, flaky skin. Hyaluronic Acid, which visibly plumps skin. Ceramides & Fatty Acids, which strengthen and repair your moisture barrier. I think you'll be very pleased with this moisturizer. So why a Sweet and not Supersweet rating? I think if you have super dry skin, you will need something more during the Winter months. Let me suggest my favorite, Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base (reviewed here)(Harrods, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Selfridges, Saks Fifth Avenue). I just don't feel the Biossance will be enough for super dry skin during colder months. I would get a sample and try it for yourself to see. For all other skin types, it should be fine.

What else is there to love about this cream? It's Vegan, Cruelty Free, Non-Toxic, Paraben Free, Fragrance Free, PEG Free, EWG Verified, and it also has My Green Lab Certification.

I definitely would like to try more Biossance skincare products. I was very impressed with this moisturizer.
