Fresh Beauty: The Rose Skincare Collection Product Review

Fresh Beauty is a skin & body care company, that started in Boston and is now known internationally. The only product I ever tried from them was their Brown Sugar Body Polish (it won all kinds of awards from various magazines). Well, it looked great in the jar, but it was way too greasy/oily for me and left my bath tub really slippery. HaHaHa So that product didn't work out for me and I kind of left Fresh Beauty alone (for years). Well, I decided to try them again. This time, I wanted to try one of their skincare collections. I have dry & sensitive skin, so after reviewing all of their collections, the Rose Collection seemed to be the one for my skincare issues. The Rose Collection promised hydration & moisture! I've used this skin care collection for exactly a month now. Did it come up smelling like a rose? Here's my review.

Sweet-Bittersweet-NotSweet
supersweet(run & buy it) sweet(really good,buy it) bittersweet(ok, issues)not sweet(not good,don't buy this stuff)

Fresh Sugar Rose Lip Treatment ($22.50) - Supersweet
I can't rave enough about this lip treatment (lip balm). It's absolutely fantastic. To look at the lip balm, it doesn't look very hydrating. But let me tell you it IS. It's super duper hydrating with a capital H. HaHaHa It feels so good to the lips. Fresh Beauty makes the claim that you will get SIX HOURS of moisturization! That's a pretty big claim, that I DID test! It IS true. Around the five hour mark, you do start to lose moisture, but it is still there. IMPRESSIVE! Please note I did the test at night and did not eat or drink. There's no taste, but it has a wonderful sweet sugary scent to it. It shocked me, because I thought it was going to be a rose scent. This lip balm is a rose color and gives your lips a hint of red color. It's also SPF 15 UVA/UVB. At $22.50, Fresh's lip treatments are pricey. However, I can't speak highly enough about this one and can't wait to buy more. It's so worth it. I've used mine for exactly 4 weeks now (daily) and I have a large amount of the lip balm stick left. So it's very substantial and doesn't melt down fast. It's a winner in my book.

Fresh Rose Cleansing Foam ($38) - Bittersweet
This cleanser dispenses as a white foam. It's very lightweight. One to two pumps is enough to cleanse your skin. It cleansed well. I'm a light make up wearer, so it removed all of my makeup. It felt very hydrating when I applied it (when I began to shower). However, after I completed showering and stepped out of the shower, my skin immediately felt dry again. I thought that was so weird. It also felt a smidgen taut and tighter (it was a dry tightness). I felt like I needed moisturizer. I didn't experience any adverse reactions. I never turned red. I didn't experience any flakiness or dry patches. Never any sensitivity. I just didn't like the tight feeling (it doesn't happen right after you cleanse, but when you complete your shower/bath...if you wash your face 1st and then the rest of your body). This cleanser was just ok. I feel it would be great for someone with normal or combination skin, but it fell flat with me because it didn't provide the moisture I thought it would.

Fresh Rose Floral Toner ($38) - Bittersweet
So after using the cleanser, the last thing I wanted to do was apply toner to my skin. HaHaHa But I did, because I was going along with the steps in the "collection". HaHaHa The toner is clear. It does have a definite rose scent. It's a HARD spritz! So I would spray it on a cotton ball, as suggested by Fresh and then apply it to your skin. One wrong miss, and you can hit your eye. LOL The Rose Cleansing Foam cleaned my face so well, there was hardly anything on the cotton ball after using the toner. So to me, it's almost not needed. After use, my skin felt taut, tight and dry. Again, I felt I needed moisturizer! HaHaHa This toner is gentle and there were no adverse reactions, but I didn't like the dry feeling afterwards. I just felt this step wasn't needed.

Fresh Rose Face Mask ($58) - Bittersweet
The consistency of this face mask is like a jelly, but nowhere near as heavy. It has bits of rose petals in it. It's cool and feels fantastic when applied. It never dries. It stays moist. AND again, once I washed it off my skin... my skin didn't feel moisturized. When these products are ON, you do feel moisture. When you rinse them OFF, the moisture goes away.Very weird! That's the only way I can describe it.

My Final Thoughts: LOVED the lip treatment! It's spectacular! The Rose Skin Care Collection was BLAH for the expensive price. There was nothing bad about the skin care products. They just didn't seem to live up to the promise of moisturized & hydrated skin. Paying this amount of money, it should. I think this collection would be nice for normal or even combination skin (I gave my leftover product to my mom who likes it), but I cannot recommend them to someone with DRY skin like myself. Fresh does offer a Rose Hydrating Gel Cream $42 (moisturizer) and a number of serums ($36 - $260). However, I felt I spent enough money on these products (which left me less than impressed) and didn't delve any further. HaHaHa The cream and serums ARE probably the products that GIVE YOU moisture, but if that's the case why bother buying the other parts of the collection that leave you dry (less than moisturized). LOL Have you tried any products from Fresh Beauty?

  4. The lip balm looks beautiful and if it works as well, then it has to be a winner. Such a shame that the other products were 'bittersweet' as I had hoped they'd be really good judging by the packaging and the fact that they contain roses.
I hope you're well and Spring is on its way where you are xo

  5. They sound wonderful to start with, but I am surprised at their after effect, especially the drying... With the rose, it should really be the opposite... I think I will be checking the ingredients next. Thanks for the review, Kim! x

  14. Kim, your review makes me LOL. I feel like you're right here telling me about these products...love it:D That does suck that for the amount of $$$ they charge for the skin care, you would think it would blow us out of the water, but no...sigh....at least, the lip treatment was good though. That's the only thing I've ever really tried from Fresh.

  22. I've never heard of this brand/company before. I'm sorry to hear that the products didn't really work out for you. I know that tight/taught feeling you're talking about and it doesn't feel good. Especially after you've applied a product that's supposed to help!

The lip balm may be something I look into. Did you purchase online, Ulta?

  27. Fresh Lip Treatment is one of my favorites but I haven't tried their skincare in many years aside from the Soy face cleanser which is also awesome. It's such a bummer to hear that this collection didn't work out for you considering their prices.

  28. I must try the lip balm. I have been in a market for years Kim. This is very pricey for a lip balm but if it works wonderfully, I am willing to try. What a bummer the rest dont work but at least your mom can use them.

Yeah I thought about children jewelry too but I don't think I have a business mind Kim. I tend to give up too easily and to build a business it takes a strong mind. Maybe I will start small again. Thank you for your brilliant idea as always :)

  43. Haha this review started off great, and then things just started slipping, eh? The lip treatment sounds fantastic but I have to say, I've never come across a lip balm and thought "yes, this is the one" - they all just seem to do the exact same job to me - which is not very much!

  44. Thanks Kim for the great review. I may have tried some of the line before but not the skin care. I am a fan of all things rose usually but since studying natural perfume I tend to stick with only organic essential oil based products when making a rose choice. The lip stuff sounds divine though!

  57. I'm a 30 year old, combination skin type & I live in an area with moderate humidity. In the winter I get really dry but the rest of the year, I'm semi oily in my t zone but normal everywhere else. I purchased the Rose cleansing foam, rose toner & the Rose cream/gel. I personally LOVE all of these products & as a person with this skin type, would recommend them to others with the same issues. That's too bad you didn't feel it was hydrating enough for you, I would have really expected with the Rose water, it would have been. Have you ever tried the brand First Aid Beauty? Sephora carries it and I'm in love with the hand cream. I keep multiple bottles of it around my house for the winter months! They make facial products that are suppose to be excellent for sensitive and dry skin types, maybe it would be a fit for you. =D
