The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash Review

My older readers know I love Skin Food's Tea Tree Cleansing Foam! LOVE IT! I just hate waiting for it overseas (S.Korea equals 2 to 3 weeks). So, I decided to try The Body Shop's Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash. It's tea tree! It should be the same! Oooh, not for me it wasn't. HaHaHa It's my fault, because on the label it clearly says "suitable for blemished skin". Mine is hardly blemished. I have sensitive & dry skin, with an occasional break-out. I just thought since I used Skin Food's TEA TREE Cleansing Foam, for months & months without any problems, this would be the same. It wasn't! It wasn't as gentle. I used The Body Shop's Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash for a month (January). Everything started off fine & dandy. The last two weeks, I noticed some mild redness under my eyes and on my forehead. Also, some dryness. So I stopped. I was going to try The Body Shop's Cool & Creamy Wash, however fellow blogger buddy Carmen of Clothes and Camera blog didn't care for that one either (read HERE). LOL I'm not going to rate this product, because I can't give it a fair rating (it's not for my skin type). All I can say is if you have dry or sensitive skin, this is not for you. It may work well for other skin types (it has received HIGH ratings on The Body Shop's website). So far, my favorite cleansers are (Jurlique, Skin Food and Cetaphil). However, I still like to test stuff. HaHaHa I'm currently testing the FRESH beauty rose collection. I'll let you know how that fairs out soon. I want to thank everybody for their kind words. I'm still sick, but improving. Our weather changed (rain, wind & cold), so I had a slight set-back, but I'm hanging in there. What made me feel good was, I won a giveaway. I won a $100 gift card (for Sephora) from Shea of I Would So Rock This Blog. Shea found out I was sick and sent me an e-gift certificate for $125. How sweet was that??? Thank you Shea! That was so kind of you. I know I'm sick, because I haven't purchased one beauty product with it yet. HaHaHa And I love beauty products!!! Let me know your thoughts on tea tree...

  4. Oh dear....doll, I quite using The Body Shop's facial anything after the face stuff I got tore my skin apart & it and it was for combination skin and it messed my skin up, so red and dry and it broke out worse, I was mad!!! And I haven't used any of their stuff since. My skin was too sensitive for it. I tried stuff for dry skin and it didn't do anything...like nothing! One over worked and the other did nothing, so I wasn't impressed and I haven't used any of it. I hope the stuff your testing now works a lot better! Oh the life of a beauty product reviewer I tell you, hahah! Feel better soon doll, sorry you are still unwell!! Hugs and loves xx

  5. I am quite a fan of The Body Shop products but because of their price tags I usually shop only for small treats like lip balms and shower gels. I haver never used their facial products and I'm sorry to read that it went that wrong for your sensitive skin.
Actually, last summer I also stopped using their Born Lippy lip balms, which I had used since I was 18 because they were drying my lipskin too much and my lips were cracky. Maybe my skin is getting sensitive as I age ... now I use a milder lip balm.

Lucky you with that giveaway, I hope you enjoy some good shopping once you're fine. Wishing a speedy recovery (hug)

  6. Get well soon dear!
I have heard that tea tree oil is best for oily or acne prone skin because it can really strip the skin. At least you know it's now for you.
I'm a fan of Jurlique and am also thinking of trying out Fresh products too!

  7. Hey dear,
sorry to hear that you didn't like this product and that it couldn't replace your old cleanser. As you know I wasn't entirely sure about the creamy wash at the beginning but now that I've been using it for a few weeks I must say that it convinced me. Right from the beginning I noticed that it's perfect for blemished skin but I wasn't sure if it wouldn't dry my skin out, which in fact it doesn't. I just take care to using a gentle toner and moisturizing face cream and it works for me. However I can totally understand that this is no product for sensitive skin because that's what I had noticed as well. Anyway I hope that you will find a good alternative you can get your hands on quicker ;)
Oh and thanks for mentioning my blog :D
    Have a nice day!
    xx

I find the bodyshop tea tree range really harsh too, I have sensitive skin so although I've tried it, it's too much for me.

  9. Hi Kim! Oh, sorry for the not good experience with that facial wash, I never used Body Shop stuff for face but I have your same skin so I dont think it could be suitable also for me. I remember Carmen's review about the creamy wash too and I thought the same since I have sensitive and dry skin. Btw, well done for winning the gift card, so curious to see what you are going to buy! Very sorry you are still so poorly and sick, take care my dear and stay warm! Send u a big hug, get better!:*

  12. i had no idea you were in S Korea! I thought you were in Louisiana? Or did I read that incorrectly? Hehe, where's my coffee? ;)

I hope you feel better soon. Nothing is worse than being sick and unable to do fun stuff...like shop! ;)

  13. Hope you feel better too Kim and I didn't realize you were in S. Korea but I can definitely relate how annoying it is to wait for products, especially when they get stuck or take even longer and you're out of face wash or lotion. :) This Body Shop product looks really good and I've used their makeup remover for over 5 years and it's always been great for sensitive skin so I'd try this!

  16. Ah how exciting!! Yes Tea Tree oil is more of an antiseptic I used it back in the day when I pierced my nose and was going through the healing process. Probably better for oily acne prone skin.

  21. oh noo. sorry to hear that it didn't work out. i'm currently using nutriganics foaming facial wash and toner from the body shop and like it. but it's interesting, because sometimes my skin - around my eyes - will have an allergic reaction .. around spring time. and nothing works except a korean product. i can't remember the name of it... but it's the oddest thing. and allergic reaction only happens every once in a blue moon. so odd!

  22. Ugh oh! I used a similar product to this during my teen years, also the face tea-tree face mask they used to to. I'm not sure if they still do it because I'm talking like 10 years ago! It was fine for me back then and I have dry/sensitive skin.

  25. Sorry to hear you're still sick Kim but keep taking care of yourself. The change in weather can make it tricky sometimes. SO glad you had a bit of cheer during this time and congratulations on winning that giveaway! I don't use tea tree products since I have dry sensitive skin but I have bought them for my husband on occasion.

  27. Tea Tree Oil has been part of my beauty regime for a long time and it has done wonders for my skin! However, because I have sensitive skin, it is not something that I can use every day for along time because then I get skin reactions to it. However, twice or three times a week is perfect for me! ^_^

  32. I've been using the Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub from the Body Shop, and it been working well for me (I java occasional breakouts and oily skin), and I noticed that my skin seems to be getting clearer. I was planning on doing a review of that and more Body Shop products myself.

I don't think their products are good for sensitive skin, though, because my mom used the scrub and it also didn't work out too well for her either, so she gave it to me.

  37. My husband uses tea tree oil on his beard, so tea tree must be really different depending on what it is mixed with, etc. I have really dry skin, so I guess I won't be trying this one! I hope you feel better soon (and start spending your gift cards)!

  38. I have tried this one before and it had worked for me because I have combination skin, tea tree is usually good for greasiness. Your thoughts mean very much to me, thanks for stopping by.

  39. Hope you're feeling better Kim! I've tried this in the past and I had a huge love-hate relationship with it. I don't know what it was but with the entire Tea Tree line, it'd work just fine for a few weeks and then break me out and then it'd go back to normal all over again… Since then, I've steered clear of this line!

  50. Kim, so sorry that I have been MIA this week. I hope that you are feeling better! I am trying to catch up on all my blogs!

  51. Feel better soon!

I used some tea tree products when my skin was very blemish prone, and they would just dry out my skin so much and make it irritated :/ I've never found that they've helped my skin at all...

  54. When I had severe acne breakout couple years ago the whole tea tree line of Body Shop is my savior. It actually heals and dries out my acne. But like you said.... if your skin is already healed and its clear from break out, your skin will get dry and that happened to me. I didn't get any redness though but my skin was always dry , i sometimes use the wash every other day and then cetaphil in between. But it really cleared my acne and never came back ever since. Right now im using Kojie Whitening Soap, it doesnt really make you white but it did clear up my blemishes and brighten up your skin and i use Ponds Clarant B3 for moisturizer ...doesnt clog your pores and brightens your skin
