Not Sponsored: This week I am reviewing some of the products I purchased from REN Clean Skincare. Today, I will be reviewing their No. 1 Purity Cleansing Balm (SpaceNK, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales). It wasn't until I started blogging, that I learned about double cleansing. I love it. Its when you use either micellar water, cleansing balm or oil to break down your makeup, remove the pollutants from the day, bacteria etc. You then use a cleanser. It truly makes sense and your cleanser will be more effective. My skin never really cared for micellar water, but it loved cleansing balms such as Clinique's Take The Day Off (ULTA, QVC, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue) and IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Makeup 3 in 1 Makeup Melting Cleansing Balm (QVC, Sephora). I also love cleansing oil such as DHC's Deep Cleansing Oil (ULTA). So I was excited to try REN's No. 1 Purity Cleansing Balm. This cleansing balm comes in a tube. It's ivory in color and has a lightweight creamy texture. I found it to be just a little heavier than Clinique and IT Cosmetics' formula. This cleansing balm removed my basic makeup (foundation, blush, eyeshadow etc) really well. However, if you wear waterproof mascara, eyeliner and/or non-smudging budging lipstick you may need to apply extra applications of this cleansing balm or something else to remove those things. It struggled with those things. This is a GENTLE cleansing balm. I found my skin to be very soft after using this cleansing balm. It has a clinical and fresh scent. It washed away easily. When I first received the tube, the cleansing balm was hard to dispense. HOWEVER, once it became room temperature in my home it easily dispensed. So give it that time. For me, I am not going to continue buying this cleansing balm for several reasons. It doesn't melt my makeup fast enough, like Clinique or IT Cosmetics. I don't like the look of the tube as I use it (looks crumpled). I much prefer a jar (packaging). Its a little too gentle for me. If you need something really gentle for your skin and you don't wear super powerful makeup, then this would work great for you. The formula is really good. Stick around, because I just received Drunk Elephant's NEW Slaai Makeup Melting Butter Cleanser that I purchased from Sephora and can't wait to try it. I will let you know my thoughts on it Monday.
