Etude House Sweet Recipe Review

Hansel and Gretel...remember them? BTW, the movie Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters was awesome! Rent it! Etude House created an entire makeup collection this past Spring, called Sweet Recipe, based on that fairytale. I could marry & kiss Mr. Boram Kim (see video below). I love his sweet thoughts! Etude House markets their products for young adults. That's their focus and they are doing really well. I purchased this collection merely to showcase the packaging (just being honest) for my personal use. However, many of the products worked so well I thought I would put together a review for you guys before this collection goes away. I didn't add prices. They vary a lot now. Comparison shop before making a purchase. This collection can be found on eBay, Sasa.com and many other sites. Some have hiked their prices, because the collection is limited now. If you Google Etude House Sweet Recipe, bloggers have blogged about this line since the beginning of the year. So you'll see LOTS and LOTS of reviews. I'm late to the game, but here's mine.

Etude House Sweet Recipe
White Chocolate Highlighter

It's important to mention, that the White Chocolate is a HIGHLIGHTER. There is a CHOCOLATE package that looks similar to this one, but it is EYESHADOW. I felt I should clarify.

I love the highlighter! On the picture below, I applied it to my forehead, nose and cheeks. You can clearly see it. Wherever you want a little illumination, apply lightly on those places.

It truly does have the look and shape of a candy bar. It slides out of the outer package. Really cute packaging.

Etude House Sweet Recipe
Dark Chocolate Smudge Eye Liner

How frickin' cute is this? It looks like a piece of chocolate candy with pink icing. It's shaped like a heart and sits in a real candy wrapper. Just like a piece of chocolate, that you would find around Valentine's Day!

This eyeliner really works! I purchased the dark chocolate, but it also comes in milk chocolate. I highly suggest you buy the smudge liner blush to apply this. This eyeliner applies really well. You can easily make thin or thick lines by using the brush and it STAYS ON. Removal is easy.

Candy Stick

Yes! A candy cane shaped lip balm. Too cute! This comes in two other shades & scents ( I think a pink and yellow) I must be on an orange kick, because that's the color I chose. It's glossy. It's moisturizing. It has an authentic orange scent. Twist it to retrieve more.

The lip balm has an orange tint. It looks pink on me in the pictures. No matter what lighting I used, it never showed up orange. Of course I did use my cell phone instead of my Canon for all of these pics. I've been lazy with my DSLR. A couple of you asked what lip color I was wearing in previous posts. This was it.

Etude House Sweet Recipe
Dear My Jelly Lips Talk

If you want an ORANGE lipstick that's glossy, then here it is. I find it to be a very pretty & soft shade. The lipstick also looks like the old school jelly shoes etc.

I love the outer packaging (carton) of this lipstick more than the lipstick container itself. It has cute little jelly beans on it. They should've put jelly beans on the lipstick package.

The lipstick itself has a nice scent, but it doesn't smell like orange. Just sweet. This lipstick is highly moisturizing. It truly feels good on the lips.

Etude House
Cupcake All Over Color (blushes & eyeshadow)
These were just ok (orange & peach). I give them all a Bittersweet rating. The color just sits on top of the skin. I'm wearing the peach in the picture above. Maybe it's just my skin because I'm older, but I didn't find them very blend-able in comparison to other cream blushes I've used before. The eyeshadow does have a shimmer glitter to it with fall out. I wear contacts, so I can't use this. My eyes would constantly be irritated.

Etude House Sweet Recipe
Ice Cream Nail Polish

The brush is literally an ice cream cone. This makes you want to paint your nails all the time. HaHaHa I purchased this in a light peach, but there are an array of colors. They even have speckled colors. So there's lots to choose from. There's something for everybody.

It applies well! You only need two coats. Give it a little extra drying time to avoid dents. The consistency is pretty thick. I was shocked. Expected it to be thinner. It stays on about 3-4 days. I see why people were buying these in bunches. I need to go back and get some other colors.

  5. I think this might be the cutest line of make-up products ever, Kim! And what a bonus that some of them seem to work so well - I was particularly impressed by how great the smudge eyeliner looks on you... I actually loved seeing how the whole look came together as you went through the review. It's a shame you can't wear the eyeshadow, but all of the other products look great on you. And that ice cream cone nailpolish brush? So, so cute!
