Nivea Lip Butter Caramel Cream Kiss and Vanilla & Macadamia Kiss Product Review

I thought the April Fool's joke was on me, when reviewing these Nivea Lip Butters! I was conflicted on rating them. Initially, I was going to give them a bittersweet rating, but after weighing all aspects I changed it to sweet. Let me explain. The tins are cute (positive)! The scents are nice (positive)! They're extremely moisturizing (positive)! But...But...The formula is SO HEAVY (negative)! I feel like I'm putting butter or grease on my lips! HaHaHa Can anyone say butter lips? HaHaHa I've been using these at night. I feel they're too much for daytime (I'm not walking out my house with shiny and greasy lips). I will say this! The formula works well. I applied the lip butter overnight and my lips felt awesome when I woke up. Very soft. Very supple. However, I still can't get over how heavy the formula is. HaHaHa I really should've known. God bless my grandmother's soul! She loved and used Nivea lotion daily. It kept her skin moisturized and young, but Nivea is the heaviest ass lotion I've ever tried. These lip butters feel the same. The 1st ingredient listed is petrolatum.

The scents definitely match the names on the package (Vanilla & Macadamia and Caramel Cream). I think these would be better if they were in a tube. I hate sticking my finger in the tin. This balm lasts for hours! I applied it before bed and still felt product the next morning. These definitely get the job done, but they're heavy. In conclusion, there are more positives than negatives, that's why I went with a sweet rating. Some excellent lip balms (that are not as heavy) Fresh and Avon (YES!). Have you tried Nivea's Lip Butters or Nivea products?

  2. LOLZ....I like heavy lip stuff coz I have such dry lips I would probably like these. I'm like your grandma, Kim! And you can't go wrong with anything named Caramel Cream Kiss, right? Heehee

  3. Hmm, sounds like it'd best be used as an overnight lip treatment then, huh? Such a fair review for these Kim! When I have super chapped lips, I'll have to look into them :)

  4. OMG these sound delicious! I know what you mean about tubes but somehow they never seem as rich and moisturising as balms in little tubs. Unless it's the squeezy tubes, they're best of both worlds x

  5. I know you're torn, but this totally sounds like my cup of tea. I'm not a huge fan of buttery lips in the daytime (hair flying in the wind and sticking to your mouth and all) but I think I am Vaseline's biggest fan and I do love their pots of luscious goodness. Hm, these Nivea pots do seem like a bit of a copy! The different tastes/fragrances sound absolutely lush though. Nice review, once again lil Kim! Rosemary x

  7. Oh the caramel cream sounds like it would smell lovely! :)

Will always make a good overnight lip treatment, even if it's too heavy to use during the day! :)

  9. I haven't tried them but after reading your review I wouldn't. Not because of your rating, but because I really don't like heavy and shining lipbalms. I usually don't use their body lotions, but like their lipbalms. But see, this has its positive side - you can use the butter during the night when it lasts so longs. :)

  10. You made me smile Kim! I think I would hate the heavy formula as well but maybe I could use them in the night as you. I also really dislike that packaging for lip balms, hate put the fingers in the tin to take the product, even if I am at home. However, Id like to try the same, I feel my lips little dry at this time. Many hugs! xo

  12. I've always liked their tins, but never bought them simply because I prefer more natural balms. The tins are super pretty, though. :)

  13. These sound like such yummy lip butters! I prefer stick balms too but find they don't usually work as well as balms in a tub or tin like this :) xx

  14. I used to use Nivea, but stopped due to the heaviness as well. I'd put the lotion on and go sliding all over the place, that drove me crazy. I used a lip butter once and I couldn't take the heaviness either, I like lip stuff to sink in and 'just' be on my lips. So, I can understand what you mean. But, they do work so well, which is a shame because I can't get passed the heaviness, haha!! Super review doll. Happy Tuesday xx

  15. I was looking for these, but can't find them anywhere over here. Too bad they are too heavy, but that's perfect during the night!

  18. Hmmm..the scents sound so divine I would rather eat them Kim. I would love to try this except that its first ingredient is Petrolatum (the same ingredient used in Vaseline). I will have to pass. Totally agree how Nivea cream/lotion is heavy.

  24. I've always used different lip products for day and night. At night I like something super moisturising - and it doesn't matter if it's greasy since I'm only going to bed. These sound like they would would perfectly for me, I'll have to give them a try. But I can see why you wouldn't want to wear them out of the house!

  27. Ironically, I was thisclose to purchasing a lip butter the other day in the drug store. I kept hearing good reviews mixed with warnings like your review. I may or may not still try it thought. I just am not sure how I may feel with the "heavy" feeling but it may not be a bother if I wear it overnight as you did. =)

  36. These seem like they would be good for the colder months since the formulation is heavier. I hear you on tubes vs. tins as it's more sanitary. The scents sound yummy! Thanks for the review Kim!

  41. I love lip creams I can wear overnight and I don't mind if they are heavy. I honestly really like Vaseline on my lips. This sounds basically the same, but with great smells, so I'll have to check them out. Thanks for the thorough reviews!

  44. haha about the Butter Lips, but I would definitely try this product just because I love Macadamia Nuts right now. I think I would do what you do though and use it as an intense night moisturizer because my skin has gotten so dry in Switzerland. Nice review and thanks for the honesty too, Nivea products are all over the place in the EU. I'll keep an eye out for this.

  48. Hmmm, these really sound great but I have to agree Nivea's creams are really heavy though.I also use these kind of creams at night, before going to bed,and when I wake up I feel softer.I think that's the only thing works for my skin and me haha.I feel good about the product I use.So I will keep using Nivea :) But now wishing we also had these products here. Can you send one to me? Of course i'll pay for it :) Let me know

  53. Those are very cute tins. Some of my favourite balms are in tins such as Nuxe and Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour but like you I'm not so keen on having to put my finger in the tin and really prefer a stick. I'm impressed that the flavours are like the description.

  68. Awhhh, I'm not sure about these ones, but Nivea has always been my go-to lip balm (ummm... the mint-green one). It's the only lip balm I find working best on super dry lips like when I needed it. Haha, I think I get what you mean though, it feels super heavy, and yes, we might fear to stain our pillow cases with some lip balm too, haha. :P
