Beautyblender + Too Faced Holiday Kit Review

I purchased the Beautyblender + Too Faced Holiday Kit, during the Sephora sale for several reasons. The special edition Blotterazzi case featuring Too Faced's Jerrod Blandino's dog Clover is so cute! I've never tried Blotterazzi by Beautyblender! This set came with a Beautyblender! This set came with a travel size sample of Too Faced Candlelight Rosy Glow. Ok, let me slow my happiness roll and explain everything! You get a baby pink Beautyblender. At first, I said "it looks kind of small, in comparison to my other Beautyblenders." But when I placed it side by side with another Beautyblender, they were the same size. I use Beautyblenders now more than brushes! I use them for my concealer, foundation, blush (both powder & creams) and also cream contouring. Now the Blotterazzi! I've never tried them. I've already talked about the cute case, but how does it work? There are two slim (flat) sponges inside the case. You take one, press it against your skin, hold and lift. It's suppose to absorb the oil that's on your face, BUT leave your makeup in place. I have very dry skin, so I don't produce much oil. When I tried it, it did absorb the oil I did have on my face and my makeup did stay in place! AGAIN, you're suppose to press down on the oily spot/area. NOT SCRUB YOUR FACE WITH THE SPONGE! LOL Now, I know you're saying, "Kim that's why we have BLOTTING PAPERS!" And you are right! In my opinion, blotting papers absorb much more oil than the Blotterazzi. Plus you can SEE the oil on the blotting paper AND throw it away (hygienic). If you are really oily, I would stick with blotting papers. If you're dry to normal, don't be afraid to try the Blotterazzi. I love it. It works for me, because I can use one to absorb the little oil I have and the other to re-apply makeup to areas of my face that need it. There is a divider so you don't cross-contaminate. There's also a vent. Now, that brings me to CLEANING! These are SPONGES! SPONGES HOLD EVERYTHING! YOU HAVE TO CLEAN AFTER EVERY USE! Beautyblender has cleaners but I don't know if they have antimicrobial ones O_o It's something to think about. You don't want your Blotterazzi to start ummm ... GROWING THINGS! LOL NEXT! Too Faced ROSY GLOW Candlelight! This is travel size and if you don't remember how it looks on me CLICK HERE. Just for kicks & giggles, here's warm glow (didn't like it as much as rosy glow). You can't go wrong with Rosy Glow! So here's my suggestion! If you're OILY, stick with blotting papers. Dry, Normal, Combination skin types, I think you'll love Blotterazzi (but keep it CLEAN). A Beautyblender costs $20. Blotterazzi costs $20. This kit costs $40 (but is limited edition for the holidays). The only thing you're getting "free" is the candlelight (and it's travel size). BUT... you do get cute packaging! Tell me your thoughts! Would you try Blotterazzi? Or will blotting papers work best for you?

  1. I hated the Beauty Blender and returned it to Beautylish but recently I got a sponge and tried and love it! I don't know what happened with the Beauty Blender, maybe I over wet it? Maybe my skin has changed? I am tempted to repurchase a Beauty Blender to try again but maybe not anytime soon.

  2. Interesting product. I have combination skin and just use an astringent in the mornings for oil. Luckily I never needed blotting papers or the like.

  5. The kit is def cute! I'm glad you like it. I have combo/oily skin but I am so lazy with cleaning my makeup brushes so I know I won't want to clean a sponge daily lol I will stick to blotting papers. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Kim!

  6. Would you believe I've never tried Beautyblenders? True story! I really need to change that - but I think I'll go with a traditional Beautyblender, rather than this set ;)

  7. I got a Blotterazzi in one of my Sephora beauty boxes but I have yet to use it because of the hassle of having to clean it every time. Blotting papers are just so much easier because they're disposable haha. Well after reading your thoughts, I'm ready to give it a try Kim! My face isn't very oily either so I think it will probably work well for me. OMG that case is crazy adorable!!!

  9. I love my beautyblender and was tempted to pick up this set since I really wanted the exclusive light pink one lol. But I got one of those blotterazzi things in a sephora play box, used it once, and lost it. I read so many negative reviews I automatically assumed it would be terrible. I guess I need to find it and give it another chance! That is annoying that you have to wash it every time :( On the other hand, it is more eco friendly than blotting sheets :)

  10. I love that packaging to the blotterazzi! I've never used those ones before, but I can see how they'd be good to have! This set is super cute kim! I need to pick up that too faced highlighter

  11. For me, this was my biggest waste of money this year honestly. But I love the points you make about the type of skin it's good for!

  12. I've never tried any of the sponges - I used to apply foundation with a sponge and bought them in a pack and chucked them when I couldn't clean them any more. Now I use a brush as it's easier to clean and lasts longer. I wash it after every use as I really don't wear makeup much at the moment!

Hope you have a great weekend ahead of you :)

  14. I am obsessed with the beauty blender cleaner. It's such a miracle worker (compared to other products I tried using prior). But I'd never considered if it had antibacterial properties. I use my blenders for everything too. I don't ever see myself actually going back to brushes. And honestly I don't even know how I survived without them!

  15. The packaging of the Blotterazzi case is sooo cute! I would definitely buy it for the packaging but I'm no fan of the product itself. Blotting papers are a lot cheaper and they work much better!

  18. I have never tried a beauty blender. I only use brushes. I love that the set comes with a travel size candlelight glow highlighter. It's so cute. I would probably only use the blotterazzi for emergency blotting. Like if I am out in public and need to blot quickly and stylishly :-D. I would definitely travel with it in my handbag.

  19. I love BB, so this package sounds great to me. I've always been curious about that Blotterazzi, but have yet to try it though. Not gonna lie....am a big fan of blotting papers coz my oil slick of a face gets really nasty, so I don't know if the Blotterazzi would work for me, but yay that you like it, Kim.
    Have a great weekend!

  21. Hello doll, I love the packaging of this special edition! I wouldn't purchase it because I don't think it's that convenient plus I'm personally against Bloterrazzi. My skin is dry but I prefer blotting papers! Baci, Valeria - Coco et La vie en rose FASHION & BEAUTY

  22. I have never used a beauty blender. Maybe some day:) I think my sister in law uses them, she knows a lot about make up, I'm always telling her she should start a beauty blog. Anyway, yes, you're right about sponges. They absorb everything! When I was a kid, we would sometimes catch (not on purpose obviously) a piece of sponge in our finishing nets. I don't remember what we would do with them, I think we put them on wall for decoration? Anyway, a while back I did buy sea sponge from one Croatian brand (it's organic, taken from our sea) and I used it to remove make up, it was really great that way bit with time it sort of fall apart ( I guess that is normal). You just reminded me that I should buy those again....and I think I might buy a beauty blender too...why not? I want to try it. I don't think I would order this package, it seems kind of pricey and I never tried blotterazzi. This packaging is really cute. The highlighter seems lovely! I had to google Bloterazzi because I wasn't really sure what all these things are for ( I was only sure about that sponge that is used to put make up on, but I think I get it now:)) So, if I understand it well, it absorbs the excess in a way blotting paper would, but it is better because it adjusts to the face better, not being 2D like paper? Lovely kit!

  24. I think this is so cool! However, I have really oily skin, so I think the blotting sheets are best for me, but I love the concept of this. I tried using a bootleg version of the beatuyblender to see see how I'd like it and hated it, but then again, it could've been because it was a bootleg, haha! Everyone seems to really love the way it applies their makeup and I'm impressed that you use it for nearly all your face makeup! Thanks for sharing, beauty, and I hope you're having a wonderful day so far!
