Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Golden Duo 2 Review And Swatches

Yep! This is a blast from the past! I promise new stuff to come peeps ;) Make Up For Ever came out with two Pro Sculpting Duo's ($39) in '15. One, a pink/beige duo (1) and the other, a golden duo (2) you see below. These are still available on both Make Up For Ever's website and also Amazon. Mine has been packed away (as you guys know). When this first came out, I was just enamored with how pretty the brown & gold was together! HaHaHa That's the truth! I didn't pay attention if the brown would work for me or not! Well guess what doesn't work? THE BROWN! It's muddy on me. I'm yellow toned and it just doesn't compliment me (maybe it's too warm). The gold is gorgeous! You can see how stunning it is from my swatches. I was able to give this to my mom! She's more of a reddish-brown and can really pull this off. I looked at the pink/beige duo and know that won't work for me. The quality of these are excellent, but I think both are limited depending on your hue.

Emmy, from Scarberian Fashion Lover blog asked me a really good question in yesterday's comments, what do I do with skincare/makeup that doesn't work for me? I usually give skincare that doesn't work for me, to my mom. She doesn't have sensitive skin like me. I swear everything works great on her skin! LOL Makeup is a little different. We're totally different hues. Something that is too dark like this, she can wear. But anything else that doesn't work for me, I usually just throw away :( If a company sends me makeup that I know won't work for me, I usually do a giveaway. I've been back & forth on whether to give lightly swatched makeup that doesn't work for me away to other beauty bloggers I know (that may want it). Let me know in the comments how you feel about that and I may do that. If anyone is interested in OFRA's blissful & rodeo drive (from yesterday's post) leave a comment below. I'll just randomly pick someone to receive those. I have 2 more brands of highlighters to review. I'll post those this weekend for you. I'm a little behind this week, because we had a Tropical Storm Cindy to deal with and my iphone is on life support LOL The insurance company is sending me another one to get me by, because the iPhone 8 will be out in September. I didn't want to buy an iPhone 7 when the new one is coming out :S So I'll be around to catch up on your blogs & happenings tomorrow :)

  1. I almost picked up one of those MUF duos so many times! I knew the Bronzer side wouldn't work for my skin tone though, and that I'd just use the highlight side. It's a beautiful highlight and just a beautiful duo in general!! And I've give away lighty used/swatched makeup before to friends/bloggers, and have been given some as well. It's nice if someone can get use out of things, and stuff like that doesn't bother me!

  2. I also give skincare to my mum ☺️. She's got drier skin than mine and can rake most products. Love this palette, will need to check it out. Also, great lipstick in the photo! 😘😘

  3. I remember a makeup artist using the highlight part of this duo which was stunninggggg but didn't like the bronzer section particularly either. Now they have full sizes of these highlighters which I neeeeed in my life! Also, I'd love to try your swatched Ofra highlighters. :)

  4. I give skincare to my mom too. Plus she takes makeup I have used and don't want, LOL. I'm not into that muddy look either. It's always hard to find great highlighter and bronzer duos. I laughed when you said your iphone is on life support. It's great that you are getting another phone in the mean time. Is iphone 8 coming out already? Oh my gosh I can't keep up. I'm still on iphone 5, LOL! 😂😂😂

  5. Oh no, so sorry to hear about the storm! I'm glad you're ok, but I can imagine that would take up a lot of time! Hopefully you get a new phone soon too - it's nice they will send you a temporary one for a while :)

It's sweet of you to offer the makeup for other bloggers too, I could definitely see that helping out other beauty bloggers! Nice way for you to share the love :)

Hope you have a great weekend ahead of you! :)

  6. I am glad you were safe from Cindy! It looks like she left tons of rain in your region from what I saw in the news.
These shades are really pretty for the right skin tone. :)

  7. That brown shade is beautiful next to the gold, but I think it would be hard for a lot of people to pull off. It's a shame because Make Up Forever makes such excellent products but I find that the shades they offer very often limit the customer who can use them - it sounds like that's the case with these duos, as well :(

  8. I have yellow undertones as well and certain shades of brown just don't work on me either The gold in this duo is fabulous though! I also give skincare to my mom and makeup usually goes to my friends. I hope you weren't hit too hard by Cindy. It's making it's way through the Northeast now. Good thing you're getting a another phone for now Kim. I'm holding out for the iPhone 8 as well. Take care babe!

  9. This duo is SO pretty! Its a bummer it doesn't work on you. I would think that a warm bronzer would go with a yellow undertone but I guess not! I usually do a couple things with products that don't work for me or that I don't use. Believe it or not...people have bought ALOT of used shadow palettes from me on Poshmark. I have so many that alot were only swatched or lightly used. For products like lipsticks eyeliners mascaras etc and shadows that are more used or drugstore products, I set aside and give to family and friends. I only put stuff on Poshmark that I have paid for myself. I think alot of bloggers don't mind used products. I have swapped some with Ashley and Lauren before. It's a good way to recycle makeup!

  10. This duo is so pretty, loved the shades. I feel bad that most of the products that didn't work for my skin , just throw away.

  12. It looks so nice- even though the brown did not work on you -
And your mom is one lucky lady... as for the rest of the make up you toss I wish I was your neighbour I'd be knocking on your door asking for them.

  14. First off, I'm glad you're okay after the storm, girl! Eddie is so excited about the iPhone 8 coming out because he still has the 6. To be honest, I'm so overwhelmed by how fast these phones are coming out these days, there used to be more years in between, now it feels like every single year they come out with another one! Anyway, gold anything looks great on you in my opinion, so this highlight looks amazing on you! I'm sure your mom loves when you can pass products along to her, haha. I think that would be a great idea to pass along gently used/swatched makeup to other beauty bloggers for sure! Thanks for sharing, beauty, and I hope you have a great weekend ahead!

  15. I give my products to friends who are also beauty obsessed. And you should do a blog sale, Kim, I would love to buy it off you if I don't blow my budget out of the water as soon as my pay cheque comes in. I don't mind getting swatched or very lightly used products. It's better than having them thrown away or given to someone who doesn't appreciates it.

  16. Giving the products to a lucky winner is a great way to get rid of the ones that dont work for you. I often wonder how you beauty bloggers keep up with all the products you receive. Isn't your mom lucky that her skin is very receptive to most products. I used to be that way and still am to some extent.
