Tarte x Aspyn Ovard Eye & Cheek Palette Review and Swatches

Not Sponsored: This week (and next) I'm reviewing my Summer makeup purchases, that will take me into Fall. The Tarte x Aspyn Ovard, Eye & Cheek Palette came out the beginning of this year. I'm so happy I purchased this palette. I bought it, because it is a neutral palette. I'm really into neutrals and feel they compliment me. I also purchased this palette, because I was really impressed with Aspyn Ovard's Pixi Beauty Blush/Highlighters. I had no doubt that this palette would have the same quality. I purchased this palette when it first came out and I never opened it. The reason why I didn't, was because there were so many comments (I think it was on trendmood's page), where people were saying it's boring (because they are neutrals), that it wasn't black girl friendly and I think people were saying the swatches looked chalky/underwhelming. So I never opened mine and thought maybe I should sell this thing. So months later, Tarte sold the stock they had of this palette and said that was it. Hope you got it! Enjoy! Well there was a plethora of comments, pretty much saying...YOU'RE NOT GOING TO MAKE THIS ANYMORE? NOOOOO! I REALLY LOVE THIS PALETTE! I NEED A SECOND ONE! To myself, I was like WOW, I need to open up mine and see for myself. Either I'm going to like this thing or not! LOL I decided to open it and swatch it just a couple of weeks ago. When I looked at the swatches on the back of my hand, I was like OK ... this is just OK. What stood out for me was the blush. I've been wanting this color blush for the longest. Its so beautiful. When Too Faced came out with their Natural Face Palette $44 (ULTA, Sephora, Nordstrom) (blushes & highlighters / my review here), I was hoping they had blushes like this color, but none of them were like Made You Blush. I've been using the Tarte Nude Blushes and although some come close, none of them have the depth of this Made You Blush shade. The highlighter in this palette looked pretty. It was the eyeshadows that were just ok when swatched. So I said, let me create a look and get this over with. I have a palette where I love a blush and a highlighter. LMAO Well when I applied everything, the pigmentation of EVERYTHING seemed to come to life. I was so impressed and I think you can see my content & happiness in the pictures below. I used Tea Time & Road Trip between my eyebrows & lid. I used Heart Of Gold on my lid. I used Endless Summer on the inner corners of my eyes. I used Brilliance & Endless Summer right beneath my eyebrows. I used Pure Soul on the bridge of my nose, cupid's bow and underneath my bottom lip. I used Made You Blush (of course) as my blush. I used Tarte's Light Camera Splashes Waterproof Mascara ($23 ULTA, Tarte, Sephora) and I'm wearing Too Faced's Natural Nude Lipstick in the color Send Nudes ($22 ULTA, Sephora, Selfridges) (reviewed here). Too Faced's Send Nudes looks so awesome with a smoky eye & nude makeup. When making a decision on whether to purchase a product, I heavily rely on swatches. It's usually a make or break with me. Lesson Learned! I'm so glad I didn't sell or get rid of this palette, because this is my favorite makeup purchase this year. I love this palette. Unfortunately its not offered anymore, but a very small number are being sold on eBay and such. Neutral makeup looks good year round. People get tired of seeing it, but brands know they can always depend on it selling. If you like my foundation, hold on til next week. It's a new one. I just tried a new primer with it and it is GREAT!
