Maybelline Master Glaze Blush Stick Review

The current Maybelline Master Glaze Blush Sticks have broken my heart. HaHaHa For me, GLAZE is for cakes, doughnuts and walls. Not your face! A LOT of people like this product. A LOT!!! However, I don't. I think what I dislike most is that they SHINE too much and the color just sits on the cheeks instead of blending in with your makeup.

I was excited to hear that Maybelline was coming out with blush sticks (again). I was a HUGE fan of their Maybelline Express Blush Sticks. I loved them so, I stockpiled the color Honey (yes, that's a snapshot that reveals part of my stash). I thought the current Maybelline Master Glaze Blush Sticks would be the same! To me, they aren't.

What's to love? Maybelline's blush sticks are compact (purse & traveling), the color easily swipes on your cheeks, the formula is creamy, they're highly pigmented and they're $9.99 (i purchased mine on sale). What's not to love? The current stick only twists up to give you a little over a 1/2" of color (the old stick gave you nearly 1 1/2"...Oh Maybelline... way less product ...really?), the color (to me) doesn't blend in well with the rest of your makeup (it just sits very obviously atop your cheeks), it can be chalky & splotchy (once applied & it dries), and the shine can make oily skin look oilier & emphasize pores, fine lines etc. I wore a primer on my face before applying these. I have dry skin.

For the record, I didn't like Maybelline's bouncy blush either! BOTH of these seem like "play" makeup and I have nothing against drugstore brands. Please compare my (2012) bouncy blush pictures, to the one's here. On the back of your hand, these blushes swatch beautifully. However, when you apply them to your face, it can be a different story. You may like my pictures, but I disliked these so much, I threw both away. HaHaHa I'm happy if these worked for you. I really am! I just think there are much better cream blushes out there.

note: this color (to me) was bright, so i dusted it with powder to tame it. well, that faded it out and it got splotchy.

  2. Hi Kim! currently use liquid blush Avon, but to be honest I prefer the traditional presentation of compact blush brush is applied, the finish is much better for me, it hurts you play this bad experience, but product testing is the only way to find one that is to our liking, you have a great week Kim!

  4. You are right! I am going to say I like that pretty pink shade on you. Agree re the amount of blush difference, though...must be economic rationalisation somewhere in the chain!!! You are like a make-up addicted squirrel stashing those blushes! Have a sweet week from AUS. Xx

  7. Hi kim, to be honest I always love powder blushes, they are much better than a cream blush. It's sad that your experience was not good, but product testing is the only way to find one that is to our liking, you'll find out something good! By the way I liked pretty pink on you. You should try out Sleek Makeup blushes, they are really nice. Have a nice day Kim <3

  10. Ugh! Thanks for an informative review. Too bad these didn't work out for you. Better luck next time!

  11. This is a really informative post, thanks Kim! I haven't used their blush before so not sure how it would work. I battle to find blush which looks more natural as opposed to the obvious smack of colour on my cheeks.

  12. They do look a bit odd when applied... Can't even see the skin or pores or anything through. Very strange. Love the shades, though - I guess they would work as face paint for a kids' party or something. :)

  13. Thanks for another honest review, Kim. I've always liked products like this, but not if they don't blend well!

  14. The pinched pink is such a cute shade on you, so bad that it doesn't sit or blend well :(

At least you have that stockpile of your fave blush to see you through, haha! :)

  15. You know Kim, when first I saw the pic I felt pretty thrilled since here they isnt sold and I am a big fan of blush stick, especially if I am few time to put the make up. But then reading your review I was very disappointed, they sound really so bad (though the swatches are so nice). Also the less product than before is a shame, if ever will be out also here I will not buy them, I dont want to wast money. Many kisses! xo

  19. Wow that's a big difference between the previous version! I wouldn't want it to be too shiny either. Very interesting review! I would think the latest version would be an upgrade!

  21. This is a very honest review Kim. I think that the pink is a very pretty shade on you but I'm astounded by the difference in size! It's a good idea to stockpile favourite products as it can be so disappointing when they sometimes discontinue something you love. I actually like to wear powder blush but I have considered a cream one having tried it at a Clinique beauty event.

  22. What a bummer that these were such a disappointment. I like the portability of blush in stick form but iI don't like it when a company changes up their product and it ends up being a downgrade from before. Thanks for the honest review Kim. I now know to stay away from these.

  25. I have to admit these colours are really pretty but I don't think i could get used to a blush stick, I am way too bad at blending.

    ReplyDelete
  26. P.S I fully agree with you on that hideous dress! It was great hearing your opinion on my last post.

  27. These sticks really seem like they are a bad idea, but I'm terrible at blending! I actually liked the bouncy blush. I bought it in a very light pink and when I apply a small amount with my finger I can get it to blend in very well with just a hint of color. I don't wear any primer or foundation, though, so maybe it works best without other make up? It's too bad these were so horrible!

  28. I like the first pink shade on you Kim. Too bad it didn't meet your expectation but at least you didnt pay a fortune for it. The only product from Maybelline I have use is their mascara. I love blushes from Benefits, so pretty.

  34. lol. Thanks for the humor. I also feel that the idea of glaze sounds tacky for someone's face. Glaze to me is like...donuts - krispy kreme. However, now I want to try these for myself. Not sure why.

  38. It's such a pity to hear you're not a massive fan of them, I really like maybelline products! I can't believe how much less product is in them compared to the other ones. Did you stock pile because it's discontinued?

  44. You know, Kim... For years, I've strayed away from these types of blush products because I had a fear the stuff would just sit there on my face and not blend in--exactly as you described it. There may be a blush in this form out there that won't do this--but, I'm guessing there isn't. Great review--and thanks for validating what I'd always guessed about the cream stick blushes. BTW, you look fab, Hun. xx T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com

  45. wowm the colour is quite overpowering on your face, I know exactly what you mean about it not blending well! Thanks so much for sharing an honest review, I definitely lean towards more subtle make up so I will be staying well away from this product! i come undone

  50. That's a shame, they looked promising. Blush kind of things are hit and miss with me as I often end up looking ill or like I've been smacked, haha. These most likely will do the same. I like the idea of them, maybe give it a whirl in the store, but I won't hold my breath on it!! Super review doll xx

  51. Awwww, that's too bad about those blush sticks. But, you still look good with those blushes on. (Though I have no make up skills whatsoever, hihi). And whoa about that product size. It's like they chopped 1/3 of the original one off.

  52. I'm not good at using blush sticks, I always feel like I look like a clown! LOL

I can't believe how much less they are giving you now compared to before! Blah! Not something I'm interested in trying after your review.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Oh man! Glad I read this as I was curious about the product. I'm always afraid to try new blushes after I find one that works, and I always WANT drugstore brands to work, but they rarely seem to be worth the try.

  56. Glad your review covers whether they blend well or not, I was also wondering about that, because that is generally what I find with cream blush. Some of them can be uncomfortably sticky as well. Well, too bad since I think both colours are actually very pretty, like really nice shades of pink and coral (or was it the powder? haha), and yes, that shade of pink actually really looks lovely on you. :) Great review, Kim!
